I always wanted to be a truck driver as a kid, but went into policing now Im retired and a network engineer. But all of a sudden Im getting all these trucking videos. You put up some great, common sense points and I encourage anyone actually getting into this business to listen to this dude.

KLLM in Jackson MS , was a very horrible experience, one trainer cussed me out for no good reason, another trainer which was his buddy lied and said my back end trailer touch the median, they was out to fail me because I stood up to the trainers for their rude conduct. That was my experience years ago.

Most truckers have no time for the gym. I do foodservice and pretty much get paid to workout, home daily , great benefits and the checks are above $1300 a week net

I use to be a mover, we did a cash job and most of the deliveries were from swift and all drivers did an amazing job at parking into very narrow spaces. I almost forgot Schneider drivers as well nothing but good when meeting with them at the customers homesm Every compmay/organization will have good and bad.

Do you have to go otr to get local jobs ? I have my class a but start a dump truck job, will that count as experience for class a or just class b experience? OTR is my last resort smh

Schneider got slapped with a 47 million dollar judgment for a reason. They suck, they treat drivers like shit and don't care. Hopefully, they keep getting fined cause they only care for their pockets and hitting them where it hurts , speaks volumes.

I don't see how any driving job could be considered physically strenuous. Even if you have to load the truck or strap things down and do a little bit of physical work blah blah blah. Coming from someone who's been welding for 18 years, standing on my feet for a mandatory 12 hours a day in an un air conditioned factory while wearing my welding gear for 60 hours a week. I would like to spend just 50% of the time sitting on my butt in an air conditioning truck.

Thanks for the advice I got my CDL in April then took off for a 43 long vacation overseas and now im back and it’s time to find a job lol and it’s lowkey been stressing me out cuz I also have to submit my disability paperwork since I was in the army and navy but anyway. Most companies will recruit at CDL schools. All promise the world but will give you nothing. For those who don’t know, the OTR trucking industry is all promise and minimal deliver, no pun intended. They are all generally the same. You don’t get paid what you’re worth, many times you’ll do work for free and you’ll sometimes not go home when you want or need to. Everyone needs to start somewhere. Everyone’s needs are different. I hear from people that love the travel and are not concerned about the pay. Others need to make a living. There is an old saying in this industry, “You’ll never get rich driving a truck.” Today there can be another more updated saying. “ I know I’ll never get rich driving a truck. I just didn’t think I would wind up starving!” Today after driving 24 years, I’m off the road. I work local, paid by the hour with OT and work 5 days a week. Drive a fuel tanker and love it. The freight loads and unloads itself! Home everyday. Average 55 to 60 hrs a week. Gross around 127k.

lol I don’t think anybody pays lower in tanker than Schneider. In fact all the other tanker outfits hate them because Schneider is willing to run hazmat tanker freight for as low as 2 dollar a mile which no other carrier can compete with. My carrier won’t move chemicals for less than 8 dollars a mile.
