Jaime Torres Salar de Uyuni
Sopla el viento en el salar
y con un manto gris
inunda mi ansiedad
Sol que, junto con la sal
convierte su existir
en pura soledad
En el Cachinchal
las aguas dejan de andar
Horizonte no hay
el cielo también es sal
y con un manto gris
inunda mi ansiedad
Sol que, junto con la sal
convierte su existir
en pura soledad
En el Cachinchal
las aguas dejan de andar
Horizonte no hay
el cielo también es sal

GranTorino Theme Song (Clint Eastwood & Jamie Cullum)
This deserves way more attention than it has. Absolutely stunning lyrics and vocals that so beautifully add to an already gorgeous John Barry melody.
I am fascinated by the 50s. I wish I had lived in those times. Jane Russell is my eternal MUSE.
Hermosa canción
What movie was this song in?
The Las Vegas Story
@@iulitus Thank You!
Carly Simon recorded a lovely rendition of this song which is worth looking up. Whoever sings it, it just breaks my heart...
Conocí salar de Uyuni en el 2008 no hay mejor canción que está como describe el paisaje...me conmueve ...gracias x compartir
Mismisimo? Incomparable? Inolvidable, both.
Hello, music history guy! Welcome to our world.
I get along just fine without you … except when the memories come back on their own …. Or when I sleep, dream only you. I just dream only one person , different lives, always same person ….. living with them in a different life, a different time…
Hoagy Carmichael had a genious for adapting great music to words. Some he wrote, some notes he adapted from others. Being a great pianist helps.
era una morena muy guapa buena actriz y cantante
She was something else.
Love Jane with the bangs....
That's Hoagy Carmichael, the composer and lyricist of this tune, at the upright piano behind Jane. Who knows who was actually singing -- it's long been standard practice in Hollywood films for songs within films to have been recorded in the studio and lip-synced by the star. It may have been Jane, or maybe not. :) But as the composer, Hoagy is the star here. And it is a very nice reading by whomever was singing.
Actually the lyrics are from a poem by Ruth Brown. She was a widow who contributed a poem to a magazine that went out of business. Someone handed Hoagy a copy of the poem and told him he should make a song out of it. A number of ;years later, he did exactly that. The problem was locating Ruth Brown regarding copyright and royalties. So he contacted a friend of his who was the popular radio personality Walter Winchell and he made a pitch over the radio. They were able to find Mrs Brown, an elderly lady, and she signed papers so that she was legally and financially covered. She died the day before the song was to premiered.
Most film stars couldn't sing worth a damn ,and so they lip-synched to a usually anonymous singer. Watch "Singing in the rain"!
Great wardrobe...
This generation does not appreciate how talented and beautiful Jane Russell was. Let's also mention that Hoagy Carmichael was a music legend
Well actually I'm only 16 and I absolutely adore Jane Russell - I first saw her in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and thought she was wonderful!
❤
Unstoppable Force meets Immovable Object. 💘🤘❤️🔥🫠👸
what a dish!
Wonderful rendition - nostalgia setting in...........
What about Hoagy Carmichael singer songwriter what a gifted guy not to mention Stardust.!!! What a legacy he left us
I get along without you very well Of course I do Except when soft rains fall And drip from leaves, then I recall The thrill of being sheltered in you arms Of course I do But I get along without you very well I've forgotten you just like I should Of course I have Except to hear your name or someone's laugh That is the same But I've forgotten you just like I should What a guy, what a fool am I To think my breaking heart could kid the moon What's in store, should I phone once more? No, it's best that I stick to my tune I get along without you very well Of course I do Except perhaps in spring, but I should Never think of spring For that would surely break my heart in two
Pretty song and really nicely done by Hoagy and Jane. Love it when the tearful memories and steamy echo chamber kicked in. Beautiful.
Bravo Jane... Bravo Hoagy!!! Great great song!
Was she good and could she sing of course she could
Look at Jane !!!
This was arroud when I was a boy I'm 77 good yrs old it's priceless talented singers and actors great for the ear
lovely
José-Ismael R. A.
I looove this movie, and I love this song too. It’s the perfect match.
Thank you so so much! This is beautiful 💕
Those were precious times.
She was modestly talented but there was something so authentic about her. She sings from the heart.
She could sing, act and dance well. Not modestly at all.
she was a very stunningly beautiful woman with a voice match and the figure (the wife)
It was lovely to see jane russell & hoagy carmichael doing their routine

I just watched this on TV, and came here for a second bite of the cherry. I really enjoyed the film, and it had an excellent cast. Victor Mature, Jane Russell, Hoagy Carmichael, Brad Dexter, Robert Wilke, Jay C. Flippen. Did Jane really sing or was she miming ?

Thanks. Immediately after posting the above I popped onto Amazon and found numerous musical offerings by the lovely Ms. Russell. So she really can sing.
She could sing and how...
JANE RUSSELL really sang perfectly "I Get Along Without You Very Well" ... should have been released as a record at that time.
@@robertbyrd5219 I guess. I sort of went deaf after watching her inhale the first time.
Jane is sensational!!!
I love the inflection in American voices back then.
