fordson standard pulling out dead tree stumps
Переглядів 265Рік тому
Pulling out dead horse chestnut and silver birch stumps with a chain and Bamford muck spreader wheel. Please note as tension is put into chain I am watching front wheels to make sure they don't lift. Original fordson operators manual says these tractors are not to be used to pull out tree stumps.
Fordson Standard start up walk round.

Cold start, prime 4 times ignition off, ignition on, cross fingers, half choke start!
Purrs like a kitten
Thanks
Very well behaved fellow! Wish my bugger would do that from warm!!!
Haha, I have spent many hours pulling that handle before now! Keep playing around and you'll get yours right.
@@mrdexter1500 he's a gentleman from cold, a bastard when warm! 😂🤣
³😂@@mrdexter1500
We have a few of the English versions here that we used back in the 60s. Ours has the cold manifold and the air washer on it. Always started ok. but the clutch always was a bit sticky. I see he has the required clutch pedal lock down on it, we just used a block of wood under the axle housing to hold it till it decided to release and warm up. Got a lot of useful work from them for years. Now they are retired. Simple motor but durable.
Thanks for the comment. Where are you from?
Central Illinois USA.@@mrdexter1500
I grew up with one of these and our starting procedure was to crank on full choke (ignition on) until it fired, then one more pull on half choke would almost always start it. We never found it necessary to touch the mixture screw. To stop the engine we always turned off the TVO tap and then let it run on till it died, so all TVO was consumed. The only time starting was a problem was if we stalled the engine just after switching over to TVO.
Thanks, I'll try it your way next time. Always really useful to hear from people who used them in the old days. 👍
Plo😊
0:52 wipe the pipe, check
Hahahaha, just showing it was cold start 👍
Nice runner 😊
Thank you, when they're reliable they are great little tractors.
Nice to see your Fordson fella in your possession still. What's the Idea of the wheel rim when stump pulling? Kind of reduction gearing I guess?
The wheel rim is to lift the stump instead of pulling sideways. I think it would work better on fence posts, but not sure if it was an advantage on tree stumps. these were very dead the roots snapped off straight away.
@@mrdexter1500 ahh,yes I see. At least you know the governor works how it should.
I think there are too many procedures in start
Open the carb drain then turn on the Petrol Tap to flush out any TVO then close the carb drain. Hard starting due to a mix of petrol and TVO in the float chamber as common problem
Fordson Standard ist ein Benzinmotor, nicht wahr!. Hat Wasserpumpe, Keine konvektionskuehlung. Keine hydraulikanlage. Kam erst in der nächsten Generation. Das Dritte Reich hatte die Einfuhr verboten. Fordson ging dann bald zu Diesel über. Unglaublich leichter Start. N. W.
start an benzin, wann heiss lauft an parafin. deisel wille noch nie fangen an.
@@mrdexter1500 …danke, thanks, for yor comment! N. W.

Lovely tractor Mine doesn't start that handy
Thanks, it needs a bit of tidying but starts pretty well....usually.
Why is the starting handle not removable. So that the driver can’t whack the tractor when it won’t start
Or throw it over the hedge!
They can't grab, the design of them pushing them away when the engine fires
Сколько же он отработал в свое время, и все ещё нн ходу, во. Она частная собственность на средства производства, по этому и дожили эти трактора до наших дней
Tractor is 1942, before our time. And still doing a job.
тракор есть 1942. до ндших дней. ещё делание ля работа.
They are charismatic fellows, I love them. Can be teasers when starting. 3 pulls cough, 3 more nowt, 2 more, o ok Ill start now. Next time you go to them, straight up and running.
Thanks for the comment. I cough, he splutters, but always starts in the end.
@@mrdexter1500 how many turns out on the needle do you run at? Mine likes about 1.5 turns out after two and a half to start.
@@09amusement hi, mine runs at 1.5 turns once started. Yours is a very nice looking fordson,do you show it?
@@mrdexter1500 Thank you, I bought mine already restored. Yes, I do show him, my 1949 Petrol Ferguson pulls the trailer I use for transport. I'll try and send you some photos. I took them both to a 1940's event on the North Norfolk Railway. There is a video of this year's event on youtube too.
