Add Pockets To Any Garment in 5 Minutes
😮thanks for the inform0ation. I worked at joanns in Austin years ago and loved it😢
I wish they had stayed more fabric than crafts. Last time i was in they had a line 10 deep for fabric to be cut
They will be missed
JoAnn went from beautiful garment fabrics to a fleece and quilt factory.
So sad I will literally cry.
I have quite a few totes of sizeable yardage cuts from my days of garment sewing when some of the smaller fabric stores in my area went out of business. I don't plan to go back to garment sewing and am looking for someone who would like to give them a nice home that would use them. I have faille, challis, velvet, small wale corduroy, juvenile prints and more (those are on the top of my head). Obviously it would be exorbitant to ship but they are free for pick up (you have to take it all) if you live in the northeast Ohio area. [yes, this is where Jo-Ann headquarters lives.]
My Joanne had lots of fleece. The fabric was not a good buy but for every sewing it was fine. I bought my stuff from Wawak. Good luck joanne. Thank you for the update and the fabric places
Do you know anything about JoAnn gift cards? Are they still accepting them? The money spent for the gift card is already in their pocket.
😢 So sad, first Minnesota Fabrics, now Joannes. I need to feel the fabric!
There are a few online stores that provide swatches at a reasonable price
Hobby Lobby can't match the quality of Joann Fabrics as far as fabric goes and the variety. Hobby Lobby does have great notions at lower prices. Shop around.
Thanks for sharing!!
Very nice machine I love Pfaff!
Which is your favorite?
My current machine is I believe called Creative 4.0and probably 10 yrs old by now. It does create decorative stitches but not larger scale embroidery. I have test driven many brands in similar feature range and I’ll take a Pfaff every time. I love the IDT feature when I’m doing quilting!
@@angienorman5974 the creative expect is so easy to use - the features are so similar to my quilt ambition
Congrats Byrd! What a lovely machine. Hope you enjoy your new machine. Can’t wait to see what you create first😊. Thanks for sharing 🤗.
Thank you! I am super excited to use it!
Our Walmarts updated their sewing sections and now have very few "by-the-yard" fabrics. With our Michael's not having fabric and Joann Fabric being threatened, that leaves us with Hobby Lobby and a couple of quilting/machine focused stores (lots of fabric, somewhat higher prices).
Where are you based? Thanks for sharing.
The store near me has reduced hours and it looked like the inventory was low.
Staffing has been an issue. Thanks for watching.
Unbelievable. I would of rather seen them raise prices than go out of business. Thanks for your information
You and me both!

I am so excited for you - I've wanted to get into patch making
That is awesome! I am looking forward to sharing my experiences as I learn more!
this is so exciting
Thank you
can't wait to see what you make -
Thank you
Ok I work at Joann’s this is the second step of bankruptcy. Our company is under auction at this time… we are not closing our doors
Hoping it works out. I enjoyed my local folks. Doors closed last month
Congratulations on your new embroidery purchase. I'm so happy for you my sissy poo. I wish you every success on your sewing journey. ❤🎉❤🎉❤
Thanks, sis! I am so excited! Appreciate you
NO!! This is literally the only fabric store in our area 😭😭😭. I have no idea where I will go now!
Hopefully, they are able to work out keeping a few of the stores open, but I’m not really sure
every once in a while they do put certain patterns on sale, I did find McCalls's patterns on sale (week sale?) for $4.99
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing
Sad but not surprising. I worked for them for over 6 years, and the higher ups would have us ask customers for feedback and then ignore any feedback that they felt was "too negative".
Wow sorry to here that
End of an era...So sad. Shopping for fabric online is so deficient. Thank you for your suggestions.
You are welcome. Hope it helps
I actually bought three patters yesterday and just came across this video today. Love the prices!
That is so cool!!! Hope the video helped too
Sewing and crafts are not especially profitable. The broad disappearance of stores and customers who know how to sew is evidence of that. The small shops make their money from the machines with ludicrous markups. Face it, sewing is a dying hobby about like making books by hand, macrame, wood burning. I’m glad I got to learn from my mom and grandma, but it’s time to ratchet down.
I learned just four years ago and love it! I found an amazing sewing community.
It’s about time. I stopped shopping there 9 yrs ago. They sell bad quality fabrics. They overprice goods to compensate for their coupons. I’m glad it finally happened.
Thanks for watching and for your comment.
I like shopping there and find the prices affordable. Quilt shops are more than double.
@ the quality of quilt fabric is the most important decision when making a quilt. Do you want your hard work to last? Or be disintegrated after a few years. “ Affordable” does not mean quality. Also,JoAnns actually doubled their prices…..
@ I like the fabric, I like the store, I like the prices. Everything I have ever made has lasted beautifully. I’m certainly not happy that they are closing, that is a terrible thing to say. I’ll have to travel nearly 2 hours to purchase fabric once they close. Sad to see it go.
@@cavatinasophia5343 let's hope for good news
You know what you're talking about! We all have different backgrounds, business analysts are sure this is it for JoAnn. It would have been ideal if Berkshire Hathaway bought JoAnn (even Hancock several years ago - before their failure) and turned them around. Both chains operated on *too slim margins*, discounts were too great. We have lost some of the best bargain stores the last ten years: Steinmart, Tuesday Morning, Christmas Tree Shoppes, Hancock, and now JoAnn. End of an era for designers. Management has been asleep at the wheel imagining they could survive the pandemic, survive the huge increase in shipping, survive the demands employees make a living wage. Bargain stores exploit every angle. We all decide what is worth it to us. Some food items are triple (or more) in price and yet we are still buying. I might make a trip a year to Seattle (350 miles away) instead of online fabric shopping. I subscribed, I hope we will see a new online version of fabric store!
Thanks for subscribing. Where do you buy your fabric in Seattle?
Thanks for the info! I do know that Gordon Bros bought out Big Lots but they were able to work out a deal to keep a lot of their stores open, so I'm hoping the same goes for JoAnn. I can't imagine not being able to run up the street for my sewing and yarn needs! Keeping my fingers crossed!
I know! I hope so too.
Here in the Chicago area there just are not other options for fabric. So disappointed.
There are some really good online stores. I provided a list in the video description.
Isn't Vogue fabrics out of Chicago? I know they do a couple of major trade shows and their signage says something like Des Plains from what I remember. Lots of great apparel and quilting fabric choices every time I'd shop their mega stand at the big expo in Seattle Tacoma each year. Edit: oops, I see the website says Evanston. Is that far away from Chicago? If it is, believe me, they'd be worth the trip.
@@GettinStitchy thanks I’ll look into it
Are all stores closing.
In my humble opinion, I hope they are able to save some, but with the impending sale it doesn’t look good. Let’s keep hope.
Thank you for this really informative update. Really so sad. If you live within travelling distance of New York City, there are great fabric stores in the garment district - Mood and Metro Textiles are two of my favorites and both have online shopping too; Metro Textiles has great discounts.
Thank you for watching. I visited Mood in New York. I’m hoping to get back to New York in the next month or so and plan to visit Metro textiles and the other fabric stores. Any other recommendations for New York?
I haven’t bought apparel fabric from Joann’s in years, only going there for notions or pattern sales. Our store is nothing but aisles of cheap fleece and Cricut machines. Not surprised by this news but still disappointed. Thank you for sharing online alternatives.
From time to time, I have used their fabric for garments . My local store is closed and I really miss it. Thanks for watching.
That just leaves Walmart, and Thay really don't cut it, although there still HOBY lobby with has some , just not what one might need , in a hurry. Miss our joann's.
Definitely check out the online stores that I recommended. And our local area we are hosting a free fabric swap. Another opportunity to score fabric.
So where will we find sewing supply's !
I love Wawak
This makes me so sad as I have shopping there for many years .i just turned 70 in Dec.. I have seen in recent years the shelves being empty. I have made comments that Joann offers better coupon deals if you order online and pick up instead of enticing you with coupons to go in the store and perhaps buy other merchandise. I am one of the few probably that would order online and go in to shop and look around , then pick up my order as I was leaving. So sad . Pretty soon will not have any more brick and mortar stores . 😢
Times are definitely changing. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
Farmhouse Fabrics is in Georgia and does mostly online business. Love them! ❤
Thanks for sharing- 1st time I’ve heard of Farmhouse
SoFro/House of fabrics went through this process and now Joann. I haven't bought anything but very basic fabrics from Joann for years. The quality of their fabrics is not worth spending my money and time. I am a skilled seamstress but unless I use quality fabric & notions, my results are shabby. Joann should reduce the amount of craft stock and really be a Fabric store with quality goods. I can get craft supplies at Walmart, Michaels or online.
Thank you so much for the comment and the tip on Sofro house of fabrics
Where do you get your information,
The information about JoAnn is public
I live in the area where G Street Fabrics is and they do have great fabrics. Their prices are a bit high for me (due to having a tight budget) so I try to only shop sales. It's a bit of a drive for me at 30 miles so to avoid the worst traffic on the beltway, I only get there on the weekends when there's less chance of a traffic jam Going from Virginia to Maryland. They used to have more stores but during the assorted ups and down of the economy, they have settled out on just their one store in Maryland. But it is great to have someplace to go. There is also Fabric Place Basement with great sewing goods but they do not offer online sales. I didn't see Mood Fabrics listed. They have a fantastic variety of fabrics (and prices) and will send swatches upon request. Some offerings are designer end-of-run goods but if a fabric is not reorderable, it's listed so you know whether to wait or not. I watch TomKat Stitchery and Whitney often has a list of her favorite fabric shops online. Like here ua-cam.com/video/xjzb7SnO6XU/v-deo.html Now I have another list to love. Thank you!! It is sad to see Joanns go and it was sad to see what they've become. There's only so much fleece and floral pieces I'm willing to wade through only to discover what I wanted is either gone or such poor quality it may not make through the first wash. I finally only went there for last minute notions like that extra spool of thread that's run out on my project. The staff in either of the Joanns near me always seemed a bit on the surly side, too. Getting help finding an item in what always seemed to be a jumble of things was near impossible. I left empty-handed too many times and felt like I'd wasted time and gas to get there. Now quilt shops...yep, that's become my weakness and they always have nice fabric some of which make great tops.
Thank you for watching and for the information. I love cheese streets remnant section and their notions
Thank you so much for the update. Am very sad about the closings.
Me too😢
I have been shopping at Hobby Lobby
I love their buttons
Thank you for the updates. We are a small community where I live. I'm not even sure if there's a fabric store in the next city, which is small and is 2 hours away. It breaks mu heart they will close. It is convenient to pop in on a trip to town to get craft supplies, sewing notions or fabric for a project. You can't exactly match thread online! I am 45 minutes from my Joann store and will miss it!😢
The store closest to me closed a few weeks ago. I am now 40 to 45 minutes away from the next closest store.
It's been sad to watch fabric stores close over the years. I'm glad there are a lot of quilt shops but they don't carry fashion fabrics - it's a completely different side of sewing. My nearest Joann's store is 20 miles away. I'll miss it if/when it closes. (I don't think they're going to pull through this time.) Thanks for your updates.
Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts - it truly is a sad time.
Mood Fabrics
I love Mood Fabrics
Surge Fabrics online is great! High quality fabrics!
I haven't heard of them - thanks for sharing!
Unless you contact corporate to give more hrs and hire more help you won't have 800 stores
I check around Joplin mo area if yarn before the closed for good
Good opportunity to purchase items at a deep discount
I just ordered a boat load of fabrics from Joann online and they all on clearance! I truly hope they figure it out…
sounds like a great deal. thanks for the tip
Thanks so much
You’re welcome!
