12.25.24 Prince of Peace: The Anointed One
We will explore the mission and ministry of the anointed one promised in Isaiah 61:1-4, the embodiment of this prophecy in Jesus Christ (see Luke 4:16-21), and our calling as "anointed" followers of Jesus until He comes again.

12.8.24 - He Will Be Their Peace
Переглядів 35День тому
The Christmas story tells us that from a humble, embattled, insignificant nowhere place, the promised Messiah would come. If God can use Bethlehem, can’t God use Medford, and you and me as well? Join us this Sunday as we look at another prophecy, from Micah 5:1-5, and see how God brings a vision of glory from humble, overwhelmed, overlooked roots.
12.1.24 - The Promised Prince of Peace
Переглядів 5614 днів тому
Advent is a time of anticipation of the coming of Jesus. But how do we anticipate something that already happened? Join us this Sunday as we begin our Advent season in Isaiah 9:1-7, as we try to recapture the expectancy of God’s promised redemption. “For to us a child is born!”
11.24.24 Shalom: Peace and Purpose
Переглядів 6021 день тому
This week we’re wrapping up our sermon series on peace, before turning towards Advent and the coming Prince of Peace. One might think that the place where God’s people would experience His peace would be Jerusalem, after all it means “dwelling place of Shalom”. So why, then, would God tell His people that they would find their shalom in the midst of their enemy’s capital, while experiencing exi...
11.17.24 Shalom: Finding Peace in the Storm
Переглядів 43Місяць тому
We often think that in order to find peace, we need to change our circumstances. But the Bible actually tells us a different story. So what does it look like to grow in the capacity to experience God’s shalom despite our circumstances? This week we’re going to look at two passages, just a few chapters apart from one another in Matthew 8:23-27 and 14:22-33. Two storms, same disciples… profoundly...
11.10.24 Shalom: Living at Peace with Others
Переглядів 55Місяць тому
How is God's intended shalom (wholeness and flourishing) supposed to be reflected in our relationships with others, especially when relationships can be so difficult, and are often a place where peace becomes broken? Join us this week as we examine Paul's call to "live peaceably with all" in Romans 12:9-21, and as we explore the tension between peace being a natural part of who we are and a dif...
11.3.24 Shalom: Peace with Self
Переглядів 44Місяць тому
God's intention for people was always wholeness and flourishing, and it remains God's work even in the midst of our own brokenness and the chaos of our world. Join us this week as Jesus promises his disciples a different kind of peace, even at the moment when they are about to experience their greatest challenges. Our text will be John 14:15-31.

Do you long for more peace in your day-to-day life? What might be keeping you from experiencing true shalom, that deep sense of well-being with God? We’ll dive deeper into this topic in worship this weekend as we study Romans 5:1-5 and seek God’s True Peace in our lives.
10.20.24 - New Sermon Series! "Shalom: Seeking God's Wholeness in our Lives"
Переглядів 512 місяці тому
The biblical word for "peace," eirene in Greek and shalom in Hebrew, means much more than merely an absence of conflict. It is an experience of wholeness, completeness and well-being. In a world filled with chaos and dis-integration, we often find ourselves wrestling with a distinct lack of "peace" and wholeness. And yet, this is one of God's prime purposes for us! Over the next few weeks, we'l...
10.13.24 Ruth and Redemption - Ripples of Redemption
Переглядів 392 місяці тому
This week we’re finishing up the book of Ruth, as we see how ordinary people, living out God’s character in their ordinary circumstances bring redemption not only into their own situations, but also to the nation and ultimately to the world- including you and me! Can our ordinary choices also ripple through history? Our text will be Ruth 4:13-22.
10.6.24 Ruth and Redemption - A Radical Redemption
Переглядів 352 місяці тому
We continue our study of the book of Ruth by diving deep into Ruth 4:1-12. Once again, we will see how God is working behind the scenes to provide for Ruth and Naomi, two vulnerable widows. Once again, we will see in Boaz a powerful example of God’s unexpected and self-sacrificing love.
9.28.24 Ruth and Redemption: The Covering of Grace
Переглядів 612 місяці тому
Being redeemed is more than just a temporary change in our situation; it is a permanent change in our identity and status. This week we’ll look at chapter three of the book of Ruth, and talk about how our redemption starts as a change of relationship, a deliberate act that makes us family, which in turn changes our day to day situations

Thank you, pastor Chris..especially the final thoughts of "What Child is This?" this new WPC site is disappointing to me because I'd like to just have the sermon. The reason for this....the organ music, the choir, are unpleasant to listen to because we can't hear the words, nor the entire portion of the organ music (even though I know Sue is very good at the organ). The site that you offered before gave opportunity to listen to the sermon only. Thanks for this opportunity for me to worship. Annette Kruis

YES, speak TRUTH to power. What is the Gospel? "Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God", (Mark 1:14). And Jesus had only STARTED His earthly ministry. In fact the Gospel was long before Jesus began His ministry, "And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed".(Gal 3:8) What is the Gospel? It is the INSTRUCTION (Rules for Life) God commanded His people to Shema (Hear AND OBEY). "Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth". Psalm 119:142 And THAT is Eternal ... Do Not Be AFRAID of the Gospel.

"How do we live in a world that is turning upside down?" You might try living like God has instructed us to live in his Word. It is called the Torah, His Instruction (not law). Daniel did not eat from the Kings table because he knew - better than we understand - that the food was defiled. The "power of the culture" (especially in modern churches) is indeed strong. It says that God's 'law' (instructions) have been done away with ... even though Jesus says, if you love Him you will keep His commandments (Jn 14:21). His "law" is eternal (Ps 119) and does not change. (Heb 13:8). "Where are the christians that won't drink the kool-aid". THAT is THE rhetorical question needing to be preached.

This "Rule of Life" series may be an interesting series to watch. But isn't God's law the "Rule of Life" He gave us to help direct our life for proper, righteous living. I agree - and like the arrow chart - recalling the history of where we all have come from and think it very important to know where to find ourselves on the right side of "the Story". Dr. Sprinkle's mention of Stephen made me go back and re-read Stephens accusations against the Pharisees. They were a pretty complete list of the things that Jesus had called out the Pharisees about and Stephen was accurate in reiterating the charges. Perfectly summed up in v53: ".. you who received the law as ordained by angels, and yet did not keep it." Stephen lost his life to proclaim God's "Rule of Life" (Torah).
