I like Legos, but now it's history lesson time, On September 1st 1939, world war 2 would kick off with the joint invasion of poland to split the country between nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, after the invasion it went into a period known as the phony wars because nobody attacked anyone until 1940 when the germans went around the french Maginot line by going through the countries of belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxemburg, the germans then looked north as the british were blockading supplies of swedish and Norwegian iron by setting mines along the north sea, the germans would start with the invasion of Denmark that would last only 7 hours before being over run, then they went into norway by launching invasions on all major ports including the Norwegian capital of Oslo, then the germans launched an ambitious aerial attack on the british in hopes of paving a full invasion into britain, but the RAF held firm as german bf-109 fighters and He-111 bombers were obliterated by spitfires, eager for more progress the germans headed east in 1941 and launched operation Barbarossa, the germans hoped that the Soviet Union would capitulate by the winter but the soviets held firm, fighting was nonstop as the germans were at the gates of the three major Soviet cities of moscow the capital of the Soviet Union, as well as the cities of Stalingrad and Leningrad, the germans would be at a stalemate, in 1942 to the end of the war, the Germans decided to start researching weapons that would help them win the war, these were called Wunderwaffe meaning wonder weapon, these weapons would include various weapons, over 150 Wunderwaffe were planned in world war 2, only 50 were made, these included the V-1 and V-2 rockets, in these ideas included the heaviest tank ever made, the panzer VIII maus super heavy tank, and the largest tank ever thought of, the P.1000 ratte, the Germans would become the first military to have jet fighters and jet bombers, as well as a rocket powered fighter, these would prove very effective, but came too late to change the outcome, over in the pacific there was trouble in paradise as us forces in Hawaii came under a surprise japanese attack on the 7th of december 1941, this would pull the usa into the war, in 1942 the usa would have a decisive victory over the japanese at the battle of midway, then in 1943 the germans were hoping to choke soviet supplies of oil by invading the Caucasus, then on the 6th of june 1944 the largest naval landing in history would happen nick named D-DAY, this would guve the allies a foothold in europe for which they pushed forwards towards germany, as german forces were being pushed back to the capitol of berlin, the germans would surrender upon the Soviet capture of the city, on may 7th 1945 victory in europe was secured but japan refused to back down so the usa decided to unleash its top secret nuclear weapons on the cities of hiroshima and nagasaki, the japanese surrendered on September 2nd 1945 thus putting an end to the deadliest war in history, over 60 million people died in world war 2, may those who faught to defend their nation states rest in peace.
