OMG, this guy probably from the FFA testing you. I would Sh***t in my pants. He sounds very rude. :( .
I am building on your concept with a few alterations. Would you have a wiring diagram by chance? Appreciate the video
Looked through my notes and unfortunately I don’t have a wiring diagram. It wasn’t that complicated though. Sorry!
Great video and nice panel too.
@@kenjohnson6137 Thank You!
Nice job…..😎👍🏼
Thank You! 🙏
@@TuomoMooneyFlying that’s a sweet older Mooney! 😜👍🏼
@@KTWardlaw Thanks! She’s got some miles on her but still flies true and fast. Such an awesome machine!
Great video
Im an instructor and I only allow the use of the iPad in simulation of complete instrument failure before I start the ifr curriculum. It is a life saver.
Bro! I'm not even 3 minutes in, and this is by FAR one of the best flying training videos I've seen! I really enjoy seeing and hearing you and the instructor going through all those maneuvers. I just finished the Gold Seal ground school for private and I'm getting ready to take the written. Then I'm going to be starting the flight portion of training VERY soon. Cheers!
Thank you! That’s a very generous compliment! Appreciate it! Good luck with the training! It will pay off in the end!
Nice! Great knowing what to expect. How many hours did you have by the time of this video?
Awesome lesson. I can’t wait to I get to that level
Once you obtain these refined skills...you will forever be a better and safer pilot and you will fly by finesse where you "allow" the aircraft to do the flying.
Thanks for sharing, I start my ifr training very soon! I like that you mentioned task saturation. It can be easy to fall behind the airplane when overloaded with information. Good luck on your instrument journey and keep the blue side up.
The biggest problem with flying IFR is that the pilot must have good mastery of the aircraft itself. If he can't keep ti flying level or doesn't understand how to truly control ascent/descent rates, they're screwed. IFR ratings shouldn't even be available to anyone with less than 500 hours in one type of aircraft. As well, the plane itself should have the necessary equipment to fly IFR. I'm sick of seeing IPADS in cockpits, as if Apple was suddenly part of the aviation business. You don't even need an IPAD if you're truly prepared and disciplined.
Bruh iPads are literally supplements to appropriate technique, accuracy, smoothness, knowledge, procedures, judgement and flight management, the basic domains of competency. Nothing wrong with adding to your own situational awareness with a technological resource, following the appropriate advisory pubs on EFB’s from your national authority.
@@restrepo88 Ive watched a lot of videos describing situations where Ipads were depended upon and didn't work. If you can't even follow the instrumentation in the plane, what makes you think another distraction is useful. The IPAD is a crutch for a lot of people and causes bad habits to be formed.
I’m not sure what in my video prompted such animosity for iPads? The fact that I use one like 99% of other pilots? I agree that a proficient pilot needs to understand the airplane and its instrumentation and not rely on an iPad since it’s not an approved instrument. That being said, the iPad is a huge help for situations awareness and for IFR use with georeferenced plates. Pilots used to use Sextants and then came nav sources, I don’t hear anyone crying for Sextants even though VOR’s are being decommissioned. Technology improves and we as pilots must move with it not against it. That being said, thanks for checking out the video and popping into the channel!
If a pilot is digging through paper charts and approach plates in IFR instead of quickly accessing needed map using an iPad, that pilot is a dumbass….plan and simple. Are you in that camp?
Great video. Instrument training is coming up in my future and honestly I know very little about it, so if you keep publishing, I'll keep watching 😁
It was hard for me at first, as it was most people. Then it clicked, and I got it. You'll know when it happens.
Thinking about starting my instrument soon. Having flashbacks to the pressuring situations lol. Great video.
Thank You! Highly recommend getting started with the instrument!
Excellent vid! Thanks for sharing how challenging instrument training can be…It’s the real deal! Excellent video as always, thanks for posting!
Thank You for the fantastic interview, it really meant a lot!
Oh man! This brings back memories. It gets easier, but seems like everyone has to go through the helmet fires first. Personally, I now enjoy when an instructor gives me a helmet fire. It means I'm on the road to improving my skills.
@@1dullgeek hahah, yeah definitely some humbling moments! 😁 at one point you could have asked me what my middle name is and would not have been able to tell you.

Excellent video, thanks! I have a 69M20C and attempting to build your example tug. Just wondering if you have any dimensions available for this project? Thanks again.
The rough dimensions were explained in the video, unfortunately I don’t have a drawing available. The long sides are 24” and the width was 10”. If I was going to do this again, the pivoting fork needs to be beefed up, and the articulating attach arms mechanics need more refinement. Closes great, opens not so great. Thanks for the kind comment!
How much torque that electric motor to move the aircraft? My i ask
Enough to push a Mooney with full fuel up a small slope. But the spec of the motor is listed on eBay, just follow the link in the video description.

I got the 2 275's last year and a 375 and loved them next week I get the mooney back with a JPI 900 and a garmin 500 installed. Really happy to get a AP. Your plane looks great!!
That’s a fantastic setup! What made you decide JPI900 over the 275 EIS?

Nice flight! Panel looks good. Have to check that destination out. Thanks
Thank you for your good comment on G100UL, coming to an airport near you next year.
Looking forward to it! Would you happen to know what airports?
I am the Field Service Manager for GAMI, and I am working on the distribution issue. CA will be first with production in Houston and railed to CA. There will be lots available in Houston to be delivered by truck to the airports. The distributors of AVGAS are the ones who decide who will get it first. The FBO's need to tell their distributor that they want it at their airport. @@TuomoMooneyFlying

That Mooney was moving quick, what's the burn at that? Best I can seem to get is 147kts in my m20f
My numbers are in mph, but I burn around 11.5 typically with WOT.
Do you have the plans anywhere and the files for the 3D printing?
Sorry, unfortunately not anymore. But the measurements were pretty straight forward.
G, day from Sydney Australia. Is it a Mooney M20? Nice addition to the panel for reliability. Say... Nice holiday destination, beautiful hotel. 🌏🇭🇲
Hey Mate! Yes it’s a M20F. Thank you, big difference for sure! Thanks for the kind words!
I just spent today removing the elevators from my ‘62 C. The right side weight is corroded and the new weights came as a set. Half done with the process as of today.
Sorry to hear you got hit with this but better to fix it than worry about it later!
@@TuomoMooneyFlying still gets the pocket book though! Trying to get the annual done so I can fly it to Reno next week 🤞🏼
@@TuomoMooneyFlying Turns out mine weren't the weights in question... just flaked paint, misdiagnosis by the shop. Thankfully they are making it right.... A quick check involves a strong magnet per the service bulletin.
Nice video!! Where did you stay?
The Courtyard, really great place to stay even though it’s a bit farther down from the shops and restaurants.
Be honest...did you choose that hotel because the colors matched the plane???😂
😂 it may or may not have had a role in the decision making..

Just watched this for the first time tonight and all I can say is I'm damn impressed. Really nice build and I love that you even power articulated the aircraft attach points.
Thank You! It was a super fun project, I do have some 2.0 ideas if I ever need to redo this 😁
@@TuomoMooneyFlying What are your 2.0 ideas. We are looking at building tugs for 3 club aircraft, Archer, Arrow, 172, and a Van's RV10 . We are hping to use one design and modify the grip arms
@glenellyn100 that’s a good question. I would definitely modify the grip arms. The current solution uses a cable to actuate them but it hasn’t proven to be very good solution. The linear motor instead of being on the side could go in the middle of the frame and push the fork out or pull in as needed with kind of a scissor like mechanism.
Good job with the sound
Thank You!
Beautiful plane, beautiful trip!
