I have diamond doves and they stay in their cage full time. I have carpet all over my house I could never let the birds just walk around and poop on it lol much harder to clean

Great video and beautiful birds! When I was in middle & High School, I bred and sold this type of Dove. I'm just a keeper now and moved onto the more exotic varieties of Doves. The reason being that the Ringnecks have taken over the city, so I have my own Ringneck aviary outside now with the wild ones (I'm probably one of the main causes of this adorable, harmless invasion.) They truly make wonderful companions.

They don't need a huge cage if you don't keep them in it. So long as you don't have another pet that will prey on them, they can free roam just fine.

They are lovely and so is your home. I like that corner with big windows facing the backyard. You are blessed to not be doing apartment living. All live ones poop. I guess if one wants a bird that doesn't poop, it's going to be taxidermy specimen. Every 7 minutes is high pooping frequency. Lucky for us, we are 1 to 3 times a day though never enjoyable. If I could invent one thing, it'd be a toilet that sucks the air out from the rim immediately after it runs water into the bowl.

I've got a pigeon <3 she's the sweetest little thing. Please do not buy from pet stores, though! Many people have paired doves that breed and they do not have enough room to keep them. Same with pigeons. Many pigeons do not get properly rescued and when found injured tend to get euthanized because everyone thinks theyre all wild animals. Both doves and pigeons are domestic! Thats why they're so close to humans. They know humans as good people. So please! Get yourself a pigeon or dove! (Doves are much louder and pigeons are quiet but clingy)

Try giving them RAW ground up egg shells instead of the cooked ones.

What are your cage dimensions

Do they try to fly around the house, or just stay on their perch? I’ve had mine for a week and they keep trying to fly all over. I’m considering clipping their wings but I don’t know if they will settle down once they’re used to being here. They are also only 2 months old.
