First ascent of El Flechazo
El Flechazo (Cupid's Arrow)
First ascent on Cerro Standhart, Argentina, Patagonia Febuary 2020 with Nicolas Favresse. We spent three days on the wall, and celebrated my birthday with some cake, singing, and ice cream on the summit.
On the approach walking up Cerro Torre valley we didn’t have any objective, no expectations, we were just going up there to enjoy the moment, the top far from our thoughts, without importance, accepting the possibility of not reaching any summit, we were going up there to live an experience, to learn and have a good time.
Most walls were either covered in rime or soaking wet. Nico spotted a nice, clean, dry line on Cerro Standhardt. “We might as well try that!” So we did.
We named the route “El Flechazo”, Cupid’s arrow in Spanish, as an anti-missile, make love not war kind of thing, to counter the missile names of the other routes on that face (Exocet, Tomahawk). Love stops missiles. However some seemed to think that we were suggesting that Cupid’s arrow has caused more pain and human damage than any missile in history. Whatever way you choose to look at it “El Flechazo” is more powerful!
Music:
Outro song is a cover from SUMO called "El Reggae de Paz Y Amor" recorded at a party at the Hem Herhu hostel in El Chalten, with amazing voice from José Del Castillo and additional instruments from the monkeys, Jim Reynolds, Michael Brines, Jon Griffin, Tad McCrea and others.
Intro music is from a jamming session at Alexis' birthday Asado in El Chalten with all the local titanes and monos.

J't' envie pour ton cadeau d'anniversaire ! Ce que tu as montré dans le film n’était pas vraiment un grand défi. Mais ça a l'air d'être mieux de beau ! (comme des belles longueurs à Adrspach.)

Nice editing, loving the "wild bunch" spirit. Inspiring, so positive, really makes me deeply happy. Was wondering: Sean, would you record some compilation of your inspired songs and music ? If you do, i would certainly listen to it while going on a climbing aventure of my own. 😁🤘🏻

Wow, that Cobra Crack is one incredible route. Some of those moves looked utterly impossible in that overhanging section.
how come there was only one piece of pro the crack, it as too wide for the gear you had? I couldn't see on my screen. Great video, merci de partager ton aventure!
It was too wide. we only had one piece that was big enough to fit.
@@seanvillanueva8047 Ah I see, smart move and better to crush another day, you rock!
@@seanvillanueva8047 I would love to see how you prep for one of these climbs... but don't want to kill the mystery at the same time.

Love these videos! They inspired me to buy a Westerly Discus myself! Her name (Sea Dream of Clyde) even fits into your Dodo's Delight theme song should I snag it for a cover! Give me a shout if y'all feel like adventuring to some remote rocks on the BC coast aboard another Discus! Cheers from the west coast of Canada!
You guys are amazing! Your videos are the way climbing videos should be; fun and not taking oneself to seriously. Your Dodo's Delight videos led me to buying a Westerly Discus on the west coast of Canada. I had never heard of Westerly Yachts (They are very uncommon on the west coast of Canada), but when I saw the pictures in the ad, I recognized the make having seen your videos of the Dodo, and was certainly inspired to go view it knowing where Bob took you guys up north with it! A tough boat indeed!
rock one
Amazing video! These always get me so stoked to go climbing again!
