No matter how soft your hands are, horses never like bits. I ride in a bit and I hate when the horses chew and open their mouths with the bit, I just know they are uncomfortable. People put their protective on the horse which is bs. "I like using snaffle bits, so my horse likes the pain of thr snaffle bit" stop putting your prlstective on your horse when the horse has a different perspective. I try to be gently with the bit but that still doesn't mean the horse is in pain

It's really hard to tell anything about the movement from this video, as they are out of frame, the different light also makes it harder to see the impact. Does it seem like the horse has faster and easier rollover in the un shod part, yes, but still hard to really tell the difference, as we actually don't see the motion, because they're out of the frame most of the time.

The idea that bitless is better is a dangerous claim when dealing with beginner riders, because now you've got a group of biased, heavy-handed green riders that think a halter can do no harm. If your horse behaves better in a rope halter, good, then you've found what works best for the two of you. But to say that every horse should be ridden bitless is like saying every horse needs the same shape of saddle, you are not considering them as an individual.

man, can you imagine slipping with every step you took? ugh. excellent that this babe got is barefoot now. at least, from reading the description, thats what I gathered? every horse should be barefoot. i have yet to see an equine that cant heal their hooves barefoot. and ive literally seen hoof capsules sheared off, and they healed beautifully without ever seeing a shoe.

Mijn nicht rijd regelmatig op mijn d pony, mijn moeder denkt dat ze goed kan rijden maar eigenlijk ziet het er niet uit ze kan niet eens normaal aangalloperen. Maaar in ieder geval zij rijd wel eens op mijn pony altijd na het rijden zeurt ze over blaren en pijn op haar handen, nu besef ik wat mijn pony dan ook voelt, maar dan geeft ze ook nog een mijn lieve pony de schuld ervan. Ik ben zelf niet tegen het bit want mijn paard is zonder bit niet te rijden. Mijn bit is ook goedgekeurd door een bitfitter en er is niks mis mij en ligt lekker in zijn mond ook geef ik hem altijd een zuilerklontje met bit in doen en hij ziet het bit gewoon als iets leuks nu.

Both of my horses are in a hanging cheek French link snaffle. I have soft hands, they have soft mouths. However I could never go bitless nor would I want to, the pressure it puts on the nerves in their faces genuinely scares me. I will ride in a headcollar and bareback sometimes but it doesn’t suit either of my horses to do it all the time. At the end of the day everyone has their opinions and so do the horses. If I were ever to try bitless on my older mare she wouldn’t like it she’s very sensitive with her head and the pressure would irritate her. She’s happy with her snaffle she takes the bit before I have it ready she loves her work and that’s that😊 If people could just respect others opinions and not say your hurting your horses etc as horses also have their opinions on what they like. I also have a yearling and when we break him in I’m planning to use the same bit unless he doesn’t like it we will try other bits until we find the right one for him❤️

jesus, the amount of ignorance under this video. are the models incorrect? sure. but a hard piece of metal in a horses mouth is never soft. no matter what your hands are doing. even if you don't make any contact on the reins your causing unnecessary pressure on the horses face. horses learn solely off of the release of pressure. bits cause constant pressure that never goes away. plus the bit makes proper communication between you and your horse harder. now, can bit-less bridles cause pain? of course. but it is indeed much harder to cause damage with a rope halter and it happens outside of the mouth. if you need a piece of metal to control your horse maybe step back and think really hard about your riding level. is it actually good enough to work with a horse like this. and for those of you that are going to complain that your horse is "head-strong" have no idea how to use pressure and release. and your horse isn't head-strong they're smart and have you figured out. they know that you can't control them without pain and the internalize that. they know your a bad leader and when given the opportunity they will take advantage of your lack of knowledge. horses rely on strong leaders to survive so you need to be one. if your not a stong leader your horse wont trust you, its as simple as that.

its not the bit. its the riders. they dont know how to ride and use more reins and pull so aggressively.

2:10 you have the bit upside down that it why it would hurt the horse. You always have it the other way round so it fits the horses mouth. Bits are not abusive unless they are too strong for the horse or the rider uses it wrong too abuse

I'm not saying Western is perfect. The bits are often curb bits or snaffle. But the pressure is minimal and the reins are slack. Most Western bridles have no nose band. Sorry but I HATE English riding! Everything about it is unnecessary if not cruel.
