What was the deal with the nitrate tap water issue?
Nitrates are currently 50ppm in my tap water. Which is the legal maximum in the UK
Hi jae is the offer of 25 pounds still available on the repashy wood it be easier to contact u on here or the amgk page thanks
Good afternoon Yes the offer is still open. Feel free to email me on: emailenglishaquarist@gmail.com
Hi Jae there was and error with the email as failed to send, how do I order and pay for the rapashy food please
@@stuartcross749 I'm sorry. It will shortly be listed on my website when I launch. I have emailed you. Please check your inbox and junk
Hi jae i heard u taking about the repashy last night on zoom meeting I've joined the amgk group seen your add selling repashy just looking for some advice on how often u feed it thanks
@@stuartcross749 I currently feed it daily as the last feeding so that the the goldfish can munch throughout the night.
I have been thinking about doing that
It works very well.

Thats one noisy motor
I found by putting a weight on the top of it It's reduced the noise severely but it is amusing that that one pump is louder than the one that runs my fish room.
Great video! I bought a similar infrared heater panel, although quite a lot more money. I sat directly in front of it with it turned up to full power. I felt no heat from it! The actual unit was very hot but no was landing on me.
Thanks for the comment. So you have a large expensive hotplate.
@@EnglishAquarist Yes it was. I've sent it back for a full refund.
@henry5866 I was able to get my money back from my bank using the UA-cam video as evidence that it didn't work but unfortunately I still have the panel in the house taking up space as it cannot be disposed of regularly.
To much ventilation
Don’t put brick things in there enclosure
Good morning. The bowl and plant pot are both plastic which makes them safe for the snails.
Poor little Chance. I am glad he has you to give him a loving home.
@@ellaaqua Thank you, Chance is a fish I bred, his sister Lucky just won first place at goldfish show. Dippy and Dopey are my current rescue goldfish.
@EnglishAquarist Wow, Congrats on 1st place to Lucky! I have a goldfish named Lucky too. They are the best 💖
@ellaaqua Thank you, what type of goldfish is your Lucky?
@EnglishAquarist My Lucky is a mostly white calico ranchu. I saw him at my local shop and thought he could be a milk cow ranchu. But no, Def a calico. I named him Lucky because someone had put a hold on him. I waited a week and the shop keeper told me I could buy him since the first person never came back to claim him. I was so lucky to have him so I named him Lucky 💓
@ellaaqua cute little ranchu. It's been ages since I've seen a fish being held for someone. Years ago I fell in love with two clownfish and placed a reserve on them while I got my quarantine tank ready and I think they were on hold for 3 days.

Hi jae congratulations on winning first place with your ryukin just wondering what food do u feed your goldfish thanks
I am currently testing lots of different foods. So far the best one I found is Repashy Super Gold. I also like doing fresh vegetables everyday. I will hopefully in the next few months be building a website with all different foods I've tried available on it.
That is deffinatly the Ultimate Sponge Filter🎉
I will be filtering a 7 ft x 5 ft pond using those filters in the future.
@@EnglishAquarist You may need to add another segment to make it the Ultimate Ultimate Sponge Filter in that case lol. Good luck, and post a video of that pond when it's done, would love to see it.
Congratulations 🏵️ some lovely metallic fantails at the show 👌
Lots of stunning fish. The auction had fantastic fish in it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any decent footage.
Wooo well done Lucky!!

Congratulations 🎉
Thank you very much, very happy with Lucky the goldfish.
Congratulations on the win beautiful fish and Very well deserved
Thank you very much, It was an amazing show. lots of great fish.
If you want water heated then direct heating by a water heater is most efficient. Water is I believe mostly transparent to infrared light, just as it is to visible light, and the reflective foil on the wall is reflective. Therefore you have very little heatable mass in the room that can absorb the infrared, get warm, and then indirectly warm the air. You would have been better ceiling mounting this so that it warms the floor. But as your floor is probably concrete poured on to ground, this would be better but not very efficient.
@@johnpublicprofile6261 thank you for your advice. I'm now using a oil-filled radiator and the thermal mass of all the aquariums to keep the room warm and it's working perfectly.
A naff quality product of any technology is a naff product. That in itself does not prove the technology nor any better quality products using the same technology are naff.
I will be trying more infrared heaters in the future.
Flapitan
Those Ryukin are already named, but the babies born this spring will have your name idea of Flapitan on this list of choices.
Ratlungworm is carried by these snails and are responsible for more human deaths than any other animal on earth.
The calico one will grow way more than a foot and the red capped Oranda will grow up to 6 inches unless it is a larger species of oranda. The calico is either a wakin, shubunkin, or common goldfish. I would name the red capped oranda, lada and the calico one, commit
Interesting names, I will name one of my Ryukin fry Lada. Unfortunately both those goldfish infected my fish with Ich and sadly passed away. Luckily all the other fish made a full recovery.
@@EnglishAquarist 👍
I saw you on tiktok😅
@@claudariane2688 the video is doing well on tiktok and UA-cam.
I have a question how do you tell apart a variatus platy to a southern platy?
I find the best way to tell the difference is to lower the temperature slowly and look for how they're reacting, the variatus will be more active at lower temperatures. However they do interbreed and most are a hybrid of both.
Which plant
I've found that the house plant pothos (devils ivy) works best.
Lovely setup. I hope you are doing well. I just subscribed to learn more from you, even though I haven't had a chance to keep an aquarium yet. :)
Thank you so much, that means a lot, I hope the information is helpful, be warned the hobby is addictive.
It's the same size of your face
I know and I have a big face too.
How does the water go in or suctioned into the filter if their is no water pump??
Air is pumped down the filter and as it escapes it pulls water in.
How many minutes
Only a few minutes no more than 3, just enough so when I add to the aquarium they sink straight away.
Could you stack more on top and run a power head?
Yes you could if you get a power head that fits. I have seen this done.
Hey so I have gold fish eggs, do I have to add methane blue to the water?
You do not need the methylene blue but it does help.
@EnglishAquarist oh ok thank God 😊
Cause I saved some goldfish eggs from my pond and I was worried that they were gonna grow fungus and end up dieing, so will they die from fungus or no?
@@EnglishAquarist or do they not grow fungus?
The fungus isn't a guarantee. Some people will do the eggs without any methylene blue and they will not grow any fungus. I just like doing it with a methylene blue to add the extra protection.
Well this is a pretty rough video
Its not easy removing the fry. But it's better than finding them half eaten by the stronger fish.
Inbreeding and poor genetics need fresh blood male from different source
Well, what can I say? The goldfish does look a bit fat so I’m not surprised they got stuck behind the filter maybe that one needs to go on a bit of a diet or take it out for walks. 😂
that is amazing i hope your goldfish recovers well
I'm sure with clean water and methylene blue she will make a quick recovery.
GRWM goldfish edition. The blue makes the gold pop! All seriousness though hope she recovers soon.
Better than a beige coloured goldfish.
@@EnglishAquarist IKEA beige fish special?
@Weird_Oak with extra MDF veneer.
@@EnglishAquarist 😂😆😂
Are you girl or boy
Hi there, how do you combine these 2 together
I can remove the base off of one of them and the top off the other and they click together as this model of sponge filters allows me to do this. I've tried it with several different brands of sponge filter and I found that all of them have worked for me.
How much is that in U.S dollars
762.55 United States Dollar That's how much Google says it is. Might have been a few dollars cheaper as it was a year ago I bought them.
@@EnglishAquarist WoooooooW
Is this fish ill???
Nope I just feed a lot and often
Love your paid!!! I have an aquarium page as well! I would love your support!
Thank you
Did it work?
I've insulated the room I'm currently in here at the moment sweating as it is 25°c and the the 2 KW heater that heats the room hardly ever comes on to maintain the temperature as the heat doesn't escape.
Interesting. This just gave me an idea to insulate my cat's room, or at least the roof of that room, in this unbearable hot summer here.
@stem_ninja The bubble wrap on the windows works well but the cat will probably pull it down.
Actually the plants and rock, you are mounting to, need to be wet. Super Glue is moisture activated! I have mounted many Anubis to rocks.
I found if it's too wet it doesn't work very well.
With the nitrate issue that you mentioned, do you have any ability to use a holding container to prep water for water changes ahead of time? Maybe it is worth having that type of a conditioning setup for your fishroom? There are various ways to set it up to aerate things out of the water over time, maybe there is something going on that you can't test for as well.... Groundwater contamination, etc.
I store 50% of the total volume of my aquariums in water butts and then use pothos to pull out the nitrates which is working. Also allows me to heat the water to the right temperature and use less water conditioner as I'm not conditioning the entire aquariums volume, just the amount being changed. I've tried nitrate removing resin which was costing me £10 every 100+ litres for changes.
Thanks for the info
Sorry for the aspect ratio. I cannot fix it. My computer and I are having a disagreement.
