We have used a sickle mower and a discbine for probably 20 years. Have never had a problem with the mower never picking up the hay after you run it down. It should pick it up if you go opposite direction as you went the first time. Obviously if you go same way it won’t work but by going opposite the head actually pushes the hay upwards and can cut it off.
