1963 Eko 360 Florentine
Quick overview of a 1963 EKO model 360 "Florentine" being being shipped to Japan.
Made in Italy in the early 1960's, this first generation model 360 uses slider switches for it's pickup selection. Around 1965 EKO dropped the slider switches for a standard 3-way toggle switch. This is also when the model became know as the "Florentine"
The guitar is hollow with no center block or "F" holes.

    I know this is an old post. It’s been my experience that valco was fairly loose with their schematics. The speaker may have been requested if the date codes line up. I currently have its big brother from 68, the mighty 6169. Thanks for the post great vid.

    I have a black and chrome 76 Custom. Set up perfect and ripping. That's a beauty. I like the chrome hardware. Neck shows zero wear. It probably did live under a bed

    This shows the new white wire going to the transformer. My amp has one wire going to the fuse and the other going to the bottom of the on/off/volume knob switch. What do you reroute?

      your amp is correct.. positive goes to the fuse... neg goes to the switch... i think he just bypassed the switch on this amp for some reason.

    Great video. Do you know if Valco manufactured the 'Custom Kraft' branded, 'Power Sonic' model amplifier? it has 2 x 12AX7s (Tung-Sol), 2 x 6V6 GTAs (GE) and a 5Y3 GT (GE). Controls are Volume, Tone, Depth and Rate for the Tremolo (footswitchable) and rotary On/Off. The amp has 3 inputs and a 10" alnico CTS (137 539). Any information would be much appreciated. The Guitologist has a video on the amp that has a non-original cabinet, much larger than the factory one.

      Looking at photos of the Power Sonic, I notice the tolex is almost identical to what Daneloctro used on their amps and the Silvertones they built, so I would lean in the Dano direction... I am far from an expert though.

      If the chassis is aluminum it could be a Danelectro build. Valco amps invariably had a steel chassis, whether painted or chromed. PS, the Valco amps with large oval speakers had 6x11" speakers, not 6x9's.

    I have an 84 in the same color has the Tim Shaw humbuckers very heavy guitar but sounds and plays great.

      The mid 80's seemed to turn out the better of the Norlin era LPs. Returning to the one piece body and mahogany neck construction helped but it's the Shaw pups that make them stand outs.

    For the AC 3 wire conversion, which wire is the neutral leg of the transformer?

    • @chb8037
      @chb8037 3 місяці тому

      the one on the on/off switch... 120v positive line is on the fuse.
