The Enneagram is confusing. It has many layers. It’s a dynamic, complex system. But you don’t need to learn the whole thing to use it. My suggestion: Start with Subtype.

And again, dear Samantha, beautifully said. And the mystery of the authentics self simply dissolved. all the best, Sandra ( a selfpreservation 4 from Germany)
thank you
A 4 isn’t going to be an ENTJ, ever. The 4 is, by definition, a feeler type, and often introverted. This person is very obviously not an ENTJ
That might be true for a Social Four, but the Self-Preservation Four psyche structure operates a little differently. Yes all that depth of feeling is there, but their constant comparison sends them into action to get what they are missing. They are stoic in the face of long suffering, they can appear happy (like a 7) to demonstrate just how good they are at not sharing their pain. They tend to be more masochistic than melodramatic. They tend to put themselves in tough, challenging situations to demonstrate just how strong they are in the face of pain. They earn love by not complaining. Through that lens, being a ENTJ SP4 does not seem completely out of the question.
@ I’m a self preservation 4 (and a psychologist). The functionality and temperament of the ENTJ is fundamentally different from that of the type 4. In fact, they’re opposites in most ways. MBTI tests have notoriously poor reliability and discriminant validity (although I believe the construct itself is valid). It’s much more likely that this person is mistyped as an ENTJ. Of course, we can’t be 100% certain, but there simply isn’t enough construct overlap between the ENTJ temperament profile and that of an enneagram 4 with any wing, instinctual variant, or “level or health.” Temperament simply doesn’t work that way
@@TemerityPascal It's hard to get into the nuance of these 2 systems here, but I'm happy to jump on a zoom call and compare notes. Drop me an email if you'd like to explore it with me. It might also be useful to listen Leslie's episode on the reasons she came to this conclusion, she has deep dived into this more than I have: podcasts.apple.com/nz/podcast/the-hello-personality-podcast/id1637912160?i=1000577653115

Your channel has great quality content but needs to deliver its right audiences due to SEO problems. You should focus on your SEO so that you can build a big fanbase. Thanks.

Hey! Watching from Brazil.

Hi! How did you self-type in enneagram? What would you take as signs someone is your enneagram number?
A good way is to read descriptions of the type and then try it on. See if the deeper motivations match your own. Also try observe how you react to specific situations and ask yourself what's the motivation behind it. I found reading about each of the nine types and slowly eliminating which ones don't match my own motivations useful. Personally, I used the 9 types of Leadership to do this.
Alex is truly a creative. Her poetry - click the link in the show notes - is powerful and “aesthetically pleasing!” And the interview and interviewer were terrific. Bravo to both!
thank you!
I like the notion of pursuing creativity for its own sake and how she never really experienced creative blocks because she didn't have a specific goal in mind.
I found that fascinating too!
Interesting - as an SP9 I am drawn to creating art which requires a lot of routine physical process (currently linocut and paper cut), but hadn't put that together before!
Loved this! Well done.
Thanks!
This was amazing!
Wendy is an incredible artist!
Just loved being a part of this convo! I feel like we covered a lot of ground and love your interviewing and editing as well. Thank you for having me!
So awesome thanks for sharing. I'm a type 1 self pres currently date a guy sexual 4, INTENSE he is. Intensity Is either really amazing or really killer depending how much he intensly compares. When not comparing Amazing! Creativity spark let loose stand back and soak it in. Yes please!
Is she 9 Sx/Sp? I am so just curious as I'm a bit different from her.
I believe so..... In what way?
I don't readily project my shadow onto her. There's another 9 who I think is Sx/Sp, Kaylee Rademaker, she's a UA-camr, and I can more readily figure what she's doing, where her head is at in her interviews, and with Naomi it doesn't occur. It's like we're not on the same page. I mean, there was a time I wanted to be a writer like Naomi but aside from little things like that I have trouble seeing the similarity. Also, if I may be really bold for a minute, if you included the secondary instincts in all your interviews that would be super awesome. It's helpful as there are people out there like me who are left guessing and I'm wrong a lot. Maybe you have you reasons for not including it, maybe people focus too much on fitting into a box or something, I don't know, it's all good either way though.
@@Magicalpow1 Interesting. I recently met someone with my same type and sequence and was amazed at how little they were like me, because their life experience was so different to mine. Yes, we'd had to learn the same ego lessons, but how we'd gone about it was entirely different. Thanks for the suggestion. I will keep that in mind for future interviews :)
@@samanthamackaylife If possible, you should totally interview them!! But yeah, it's a weird experience. I do a bit of research on that particular topic and while things like Jung's functions have helped here and there it's never been the whole story. Riso & Hudons's Levels of Development came to mind from your mention of same ego lessons and how, for me anyways, there is a lot.. A LOT.. that goes on between each level. And so how does one even approach something like that? It's really something.
Thanks for having me, Samantha! You’re a joy to speak with.
So I've gone through about 10 of these videos now and what a treat they have been. Thank you for taking the time to do the interviews and post them. The topic chosen was especially awesome as well given that creativity really reveals nuances into the inner workings that I actually haven't come across throughout my years with the Enneagram; it's a topic that covers a lot and yet isn't much in the Enneagram literature. Fantastic. Helpful. Hope there's more. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thanks Zach, I really appreciate that. I had no idea that creativity would be such a great topic either! I have another interview coming, but it would be great to speak to all 27 subtypes. 🤞thanks for watching 😊
I deeply appreciated this video. I think the authenticity and personal journey of growth made it so engrossing. As a SP 9 I have a connection to SP 6 and found some of the ideas helpful in unblocking my own creativity. Looking forward to the episode of SP type9
Thanks Janice, that's great to hear. I don't have an SP9 interview in the works yet, but check out the SO9 and SX9 interviews for some ideas!
Hey Sam! Thanks so much for asking these delicious questions and making me think & appreciate creativity in its many forms! What a gift to the world that you made this project! ♥️
Thank you so much, I really appreciate. And thanks for being a part of this project!
Thank you for this awesome insight.❤
I realized after our chat that 7s and 4s are typically seen as more creative because they're more driven to escape constraints!
Great observation. And I wonder if we, as the observes of the 4 and 7 breaking rules and doing things differently, see/label them as creative and then say "we aren't like that, we aren't creative." Instead of seeing our own version of creativity....thoughts?
@@samanthamackaylife oh yeah they are probably seen as the beacon of creativity for a lot of people and hold themselves down since they don't naturally fit that mold. That's why I love that you're doing this series. It starts to shed light on various examples of different types' creativity! 💜
@@letsgocnote85 Thanks! And yes, I think that is what happens
Thank you so much for having me! This was a fun, if somewhat circuitous (oops!), interview :)
