Low Voltage Battery Alarm for 9-14 VDC Batteries Ham Radio

    in my opinion it is not advisable to install the module because the weak signals are lost, moreover it becomes difficult to decipher the correspondent .... practically it is worse than the FT-991 DSP where the audio seems to come from the planet Mars.

    Definitely one of the best go boxes I’ve ever seen. What changes have you made since recording this video?

  • @Kinetic79
    @Kinetic79 2 роки тому

    Very cool and, as you say, much simpler and more compact than the pneumatic ones. I think perhaps even the level 2 brown box would be enough caliber to get over a big tree, and maybe less loud. It might be a little too loud for POTA, since it’s a 22 caliber blank and likely sounds like a weapon. Question… do you launch the kite line while it’s on this reel? Or do you flake it out carefully on the ground before launching? … and do you think the weight of the heavy wire at the base of the ‘dummy’ is needed? It seems like maybe the cushioned muff piece is not a bad idea.. making the projectile hit more softly. Is your impression that the added weight helps it fly farther, or less far. Appreciate the tips :)

    • @EddieVfgi
      @EddieVfgi 2 роки тому

      First run out the kite line the distance that you believe you're going to need, then pull the line back in dragging the projectile so that when the projectile is in your hand all the line is in a circle below you. The heavy wire at the projectile, I put it on there because in the video with Bob Heil , they added the weight and I believe it is they are so that you could attach a heavier rope and the momentum will be there to bring it over the tree. If you leave the white cushioned piece on, it may cause more wind resistance, the weight of heavier line and the cushioned piece may limit the height you may get from the projectile wind resistance. As far as 22 caliber blanks, You can use the green blanks and you can use the yellow blanks but it is recommended not to use the red tutor they are more powerful. This is a super pragmatic build. I appreciate knowing that you had problems with flush mounting the antenna coaxials. I have been thinking I'll include a 16 foot cable which will be routed into the go kit, and just coil it up and then spool it out to my antenna A/B switch will be outboard. I'll be using 3M's super velcro (Dual Loc) to do a similar easy serviceability.

    How much it cost to build one

    • @EddieVfgi
      @EddieVfgi 2 роки тому

      Too much, I built this because this is what I had at the time and the KX3 and amplifier had all the bells and whistles and it. It was also very heavy, it covered UHF, VHF, CB, GMRS and HF. I included a CB because here in Florida we have a lot of truckers on the road and that's where you could get your information on how the roads were after a hurricane with the occasional tornado. If you're going to design one, think of what you need. Are you going to need UHF, VHF, CB, GMRS and HF all in one box? The switch panel that I built I used an old printer cable, the ones not used on computers anymore. I cut the ends off and it made a nice cable for running the multitude of wires,

    Really nice video...thank you for posting!! I built a similar go box, then I took it all apart because it was way too heavy and I realized it is very unlikely that I would ever need so many radios and equipment in a non-configurable and non-modular format for field use (or at least in my use case).

    • @Sagart999
      @Sagart999 Місяць тому

      Too heavy! Yes! Looking at this and other builds on YT, I've come to the conclusion that "modular" is the way to go. One box for HF, one for VHF/UHF, one for power, and one for cables and such. Store them all together, but take only what you need. Or take all of the modules to the site, but only move them to your operating position as needed. You are likely not the only operator that will be there, and not the only person bringing gear. And as time marches on, your older back will appreciate multiple smaller loads to tote. Experience here.
