Printers are getting cheaper and better. Design software is free to use. It opens up a lot of options and is a great hobby by itself. Thanks for your comment.
Nice build man it would be cool to have a 3d printer so I could manufacture my own too
Glug, glug! Ugly Bug take a chug! Grip the rock with tire lug, Cute enough for a hug!
Ha! I love that comment. That’s hilarious:)
Looking so scale! Right on!
Thanks! I have more scale improvements in the works.
👍
It really looks fantastic! And you have a solid drivetrain in her too. Great work!
Thanks. I do love how it drives.
Can't beat a good send. Fun video!
That's a sick skin! Did you dip it or wrap it?
It’s a wrap. My first ever. This was a good body to learn on as it doesn’t have deep inlays or sharp corners. Also, camo is very forgiving.
Garbage
Thanks. Please subscribe:)
Cool rocks and crawling 😊
I can clearly see that i need a Redcat! So good. The body is really cool. Thanks for the video!
It’s easily my best crawling rig. You won’t be disappointed. I have made quite a few changes to lower the CoG. Most of them are easy to do.
Awsome video!!! Banding the suspension helps with those super steeps and side hills! Very nice driving!
Thanks very much for your comment. I dove head over heels into this hobby last year and am having a blast. I’ll be sure to try some hair bands or something to see how this rig does. It already has the best suspension of any own and I’ve hardly touched it. I enjoy your videos by the way. Thanks for sharing yours with the rest of us.
Dig that crazy Wagon!
Yes it is. Break over is very poor, but cool factor makes up for it 😊. I had to build links for this.
Quite a long wheelbase on that thing. I'm going to be making some custom links soon, thinking about buying a threading tool instead of buying the threaded rod with tube. Haven't made links in 5yrs. Nice build!
Nice! Where did you find that awesome body? Of course, you'll have to give us a closeup inspection if the build! 😊 An update on my servo leveling system: The electronics guy says he can't tie a joystick into two channels on my radio (i don't see why not, seems simple if there are two unused channels in my radio, and a joystick has only two directions side to side, up and down, no mixing necessary, super simple). That was to control two servos on my rig for side to side and forward and back. So now I'm back to the drawing board. Can't find a radio with a PROPORTIONAL thumb lever for a servo. But my Flysky has an up-middle-down thumb lever which i use for a gear shifter on my tow rig.... Sooooooo now I'm gonna use one or two servos tied into that channel, and i have to decide if i want the rig to be able to: 1. Lean forward and back. 2. Side to side. 3. Squat, Normal height, Lift. Given those 3 options, what would you choose?
I did find this. It could be mounted on the outside of the radio, with the joystick at left thumb position, and the receiving components on the rig. This could control two servos, maybe 4. Maybe there are smaller boards available? On YT, this is a basic outline of the setup: "Servo motor controlled by Joystick using Arduino & Transceiver - Wireless Connection" That's all i could find for options other that my initial comment. Just thought i would share this too. Mostly just a curiosity for me, i don't have the expertise to do this, guess i could figure it out but the programming is not fun for me. Lol Anyway, if you could give me your opinion on the options i asked in the first comment to help me make up my mind, that would be great, as those are easy to be done by simply plugging into a servo channel. Thanks again, i appreciate your input as a fellow tinkerer. 😊
Build video is coming soon :) used to have a sail boat I ran with a two stick radio. I took it apart and removed the centering spring so it would hold the rudder steady. Your idea is totally cool. If yours is a four channel radio it should do exactly what you want for the leveling. It would run 3 servos and the ESC indeI’ve seen others run two stick radios to control front and rear steer independently. Flysky wheel radio (G7P among others) should work well too as they have extra proportional controls on them. Of your 3 I think I would start with the squat. Pull the nose down when climbing. Will look forward to hearing how your project goes.
@@ciborg86nice, okay cool, I'll try that one, i can make it squat down to pull in the shock travel so it will not be able to unload, then have normal height, and also lifted because the thumb switch has 3 positions. Should be good! Also, i can do all that with one servo i think but probably go with two. Using a cantilever type design, already have the parts. Waiting on x15 axles and chassis.
That's great, i love that body, what's this now? What is it built on? 🧐
It’s kind of a Frankenstein build. It’s is SCX24 chassis and transmission. Uses FCX24 portal axles. I made custom links to make it all fit. Also has several custom parts for shock mounts and battery/esc trays. I will do a build video in the next few weeks. Thanks for your comment!
Awesome..!
😅😅😅😅😅 That was hilarious! Gitterdone!
Nice! This is gonna be great to see!
I’m loving this build! Had to design and print the body mounts. Will make the files available for free on thingiverse when I’ve tested them.
@@ciborg86 nice! Body mounts are not my specialty, and clean wiring im terrible at. Im still trying to get ahold of Akers about when theyll have the komp king chassis in stock... theyre terrible at customer service, no reply. I wrote them a month ago, same. But I think they are still in business.
I like that cab on the Ascent! I'm still rocking the stock blue body. Cool cage light on the Axial too!
Thanks. I got the file on thingiverse and made several edits. I plan to remix it and then upload it as a kit. So many great projects ahead :)
I just love how balanced of a rig the Ascent 18 is.
Agreed. It is very forgiving and gives a lot of notice before it rolls too.
Sweet rig in a cool spot. Digging the body. Is that one from eBay or Etsy?
This one is from eBay. Was my first scratch build.
@@ciborg86 Nice work!
Second time watching. I like the mods you did, definitely cool that you create these things and make them available online. I don't have the option for my own prints, maybe could get a friend to print the parts (probably not the body as they aren't that good). Been finishing up my SCX24 builds long overdue. I've got a SCX24 2 speed towtruck rig with a 4 wheel drive gooseneck trailer (both have the same transmission and gearing, the trailer has its own motor and trans, and a ton of battery mah).. not finished yet, big project. Been loving the Asc18! It's nimble, and has a balance that is great, but also seems to keep me having to focus on a specific drive style, a bit different than my other rigs. When i get to modding it, i want to use that body you designed if it's ever available. Thank you, and have a great week!
I do plan to make the body available. I need to improve the nose mount and then will include all of the parts for the truck in one package specific for the Ascent 18. Six months ago I didn’t have a printer. Three months ago I had never designed a part. It’s opened up a whole new aspect of the hobby. Making some videos now and then rounds it all out for me. I really like the Ascent 18 as it gives plenty of warning when you’re getting close to tipping. Very forgiving to drive in my opinion. If you have a FCX24 I’ll make a video about the shock mounts I designed for it soon.
@@ciborg86awesome! I'm looking forward to it. Thank you!
I like these comparisons, always fun, cool to see. Hey, what body is that on the Asc18?
It’s this one scaled down by 50% and then modified for clearance of shocks and shock mounts. www.thingiverse.com/thing:3532450 Check out the “Ascent 18 Low Budget Modifications “ video on my channel for more details.
Ok
Do you have a link to the body?
I printed this at 50% and glued pieces together. Has taken a lot of tumbles and is very solid: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3532450
@@ciborg86 thank you very much! Love it!
great job on the body. what magnets did you use and what body is that?
I got the magnets on Amazon: KKHOUSE 100PCS 10x1mm Thin Neodymium Magnets Body is this one scaled down 50% and then modified in Tinkercad - www.thingiverse.com/thing:3532450
I have been looking for someone that makes 3D printed crawler parts but the only people who do this is only people on Facebook & I do not use any social media besides UA-cam. Do you know of anyone else that makes fully custom made 3D crawler parts for your crawler rig of choice, that does not use Facebook to sell?
I bought some bumpers here and they look pretty good - www.etsy.com/shop/PunishmentRC Maybe check Etsy and eBay as people keep coming up with good mods for these.
Ok, thanks for the information
Great job on that build. It brings a whole new vibe to the platform. Cheers!
That looks great! Excellent job on that body.
Glad you like it. Certainly was fun to build.
👍
Awesome terrain for the beefy beast!
👍 cool shots
Like the wrap!👍🏼 What are the shocks you went with? Size?
Thanks. Was my first ever wrap. Camo is forgiving. I used these shocks “INJORA 39mm Shocks- Aluminum Threaded Shock Adjustable Absorber Oil Damper for SCX24” I got on Amazon. I like oil shocks better with or without oil. These leak, but I don’t mind.
Nice run, dig that deep red color!
Cool RC. Also cool to ride such a beautifully crawler course for the RC. 👍🆒🎦👌👋🍀
I got the same color. Love this truck. I put some wheels and tires on it.thats it. I'm leaving it stock for now.
It’s definitely a great truck and price is exceptional.
@ciborg86 Yes, great value for the price. I love the clipless body. No pins. No hassle.
nice rig. i got mine the other day and made a few videos with it already. fun truck. i put some wheels and tires on it also. i am building an indoor course, somewhat finished, and took this on it the other day. its made more for 24th scale but the redcat makes it look easy!
This Redcat - Ascent 18 crawler is pretty dang awesome, it will get a bunch of people into the hobby & at a very reasonable price. I wish Redcat would have included a set of softer shock springs in the box or at least offer them for sale along with the upgrade parts they have for sale.
Great video big sub and like dude!!
Glad you like it. My next video will be about building and running my SCX24 with soda can bug body.
