    I just did this on my 2013 Accord and I did remove the entire throttle body, you see people on UA-cam spraying inside their engine that’s definitely not recommended also the relearn process is as simple as just disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes then leaving the car run for 10 to 20 minutes and the relearn process will be done. Don’t waste your money at the dealer

    My 98 xj was just diagnosed with #3 cylinder broken valve spring and bent valve. My Jeep mechanic is based in Clearwater so the new cylinder head came from Clearwater. I’d appreciate any input. Mechanic hasnt officially quoted me yet, just sent some pictures. What questions should I ask? How much is too much to pay for repair? At what cost should I cut my losses and look into selling? I paid about 1600 for my xj 2 years ago. Other than this issue and broken water pump that was replaced I haven’t had any issues. Ive replaced cat converter, spark plugs, Cps, o2 sensors, new belts, etc. plus had like $2000 worth of repairs/upgrade when I first got her. Sorry if some of that info is irrelevant..I’m a girl new to the world of xj. • @PetesPlaceGarage

      Nope. I wouldn't even think of not running a shroud. It makes such a HUGE difference in cooling efficiency that it was a necessity. This truck was built to tow. Anything I can do to make that work is the right choice.

      @PetesPlaceGarage Рік тому

      Also, the electric fans were never the right choice for this. A little later I decided to ditch the whole electric setup and went back to a mechanical fan. That instantly solved my issues. Why couldn't you use the Allison transmission just curious because I'm about to do the same swap on my square body suburban but I know the truck I'm pulling it all out of is a beast of a four-wheel drive. With that truck I have yet to get stuck or find anything I can't pull out figured what better combination than to put in my suburban that has 40" swappers!! Thought she would for sure be unstoppable.. is there a specific reason why it can't be used or is it just your personal application..thought I'd inquire before I get too deep into the project lol.

    • @PetesPlaceGarage
      @PetesPlaceGarage Рік тому

      The Allison is HUGE. It won't fit in the trans tunnel and heavy modifications are necessary. The 4l80e was basically a bolt-in and the only modification needed was to drill two new holes for the cross member.

    • @michaelpost301
      @michaelpost301 Рік тому

      @@PetesPlaceGarage thanks for that info good to know but how's your 4L80 do in comparison to that Allison cuz I know when my 01 Chevy truck today .1 and that Allison are unstoppable at least so far. And just figured if I'm going with my 40 inch super swampers. So I'm curious of how the 4L80 holds up in comparison I don't mind doing the extra fab work if it's worth it in the end. But as with anybody else if it's not I don't want to do that extra work if it's unnecessary LOL but again thank you for the info I truly appreciate that Intel...

    • @PetesPlaceGarage
      @PetesPlaceGarage Рік тому

      I bought the combo already pulled, so I can't speak to the performance of the Allison other than to say it has a good reputation as a strong transmission. I built this truck specifically to tow with, so stock-ish size tires, decent gearing, etc. For this purpose, the 4l80 is fine, and I do have extra cooling on it. It's a good transmission, but I have no idea how it would hold up to a 6k lb. Squarebody on 40's.

      I used the stock feed and return lines. I ran them through an Automotive return style fuel regulator. So feed in, regulated supply out, and return through the bottom return port. It works well, but the fuel rail has to be bled if it runs dry. I had the returnless style fuel rail. If you have a return style rail, just hook it it to the stock return line.

      @@PetesPlaceGarage I'm running dual efi tanks on a 73 crew cab dually. I bought 2 EP381 pumps and 6 way switchover valve. My 8.1 has a return line. It's not return less. So you're saying to tee the return line into the fuel return line on the regulator?

      @@Petrella82 The feed and return lines on my suburban (it had TBI EFI) came up from the top of the trans tunnel on the passenger side. I cut them and added AN fittings. For a return style fuel rail, I would have just routed the feed and return lines to the correct points on the fuel rail.

      @@danv6920 you have to take it to the dealer for the re-learn on the 2013 and up. But high idle is either a vacuum leak or the throttle plug didn't get reseated properly. If the engine already wouldn't start before you did the cleaning, then it's already too late and it has to go to Honda.

      That ac bracket is damn near unobtainable. It comes from 01-02 GM vans with the 8.1. the part numbers are discontinued at GM (and have been for several years), and so the only way to get one is to find the ultra rare one in a junkyard. Good luck.
