City of Mount Gambier General Waste Bin
Переглядів 1363 місяці тому
Waste is something that is no longer useful or wanted, that can’t be reused, recovered, recycled or composted in any way. These items will end up being sent to landfill. Once in landfill these resources are lost and and will take a very long time to break down, if ever. If organic material, such as food end up in landfill, it rots creating methane which is a harmful greenhouse gas.
City of Mount Gambier Recycling Bin
Переглядів 1223 місяці тому
Each year Mount Gambier residents send over 5,600 tonnes of rubbish to Caroline Landfill via their general rubbish bins. Over 50% of this does not need to be buried in landfill, but can be recycled or turned into compost. Together we can make a significant difference in helping the environment and reducing the amount of waste we send to landfill, as well as reducing the amount of resources we n...

The most interesting place to explore there was the service tunnels, a shame they were not included, and the hole that runs through the top floor to bellow the bottom floor in the muddle of the building.

I loved the old building. My mother worked there from 1971 until the new hospital was built. I loved the fact that the Mount had a 6 story building. So disappointing the City Council could not have worked with the State Government to purchase the building and sell it to developers. Could have been multi-purpose. The old School of Nursing could have been a university campus. Could have had short-term and long-term residential use. Student accommodation for the uni. So many things. An indictment upon the council, I feel. Lack of vision and enterprise.

This brings back many memories of my time in the “Mount” in the mid 70’s to the earlyish 80’s. My wife was working there when I first met her and our second child was born there as well. Sad to see it go, but I think that the demolition of the first hospital was an even bigger loss.

This was an amassing video! It was so well shot and I really liked the timelapces! Also the music really worked. The huge machine with the pinchers was sick how it sliced up the building. Great video this was a great send off for the old Mount Gambier Hospital you really did it justice.
