I have a wonderful variety of videos on my channel. One section (Cardistry) is devoted to explaining how to accomplish my favorite card tricks. I learned how to do card tricks for the sole purpose of showing children and seeing the surprise and joy in their eyes when the trick reaches completion.
I am currently (late 2022) creating training videos for Blender.
I have also produced a few short comedy videos.
I've been a computer education consultant for twenty years, and have worked for governments and corporations in the USA, Canada, Jamaica, Portugal, Germany, Greece, Nepal, Bangladesh and Vietnam.

OPTICAL ILLUSION 'Super Squares'
Переглядів 83Рік тому
I was 75 years old when I created this video. I first created this illusion in 1972 when I was at university in Toronto. I programed a mainframe computer (using Fortran) to drive a pen and ink plotter to produce an ink graphic. I always dreamed of the day when I could do it again in 3 dimensions, in color, with animation.

Now the like button works, but I don't get what the video has to do with cubes.
so glad it worked for you! All the animation is made from small cubes...
The video sucks because I can't give it a like.
sorry to hear you have a problem Everything is okay on my end, it has 3 likes so far Don't know what to say... But thanks for watching!
I am truly impressed and thank you for your excellent demonstration
thanks for the support, I appreciate it!
There is another version of this where you can use all 52 the cards. Search for spell out card trick
Very neat trick! Here's a different way to cope with words greater than nine letters. Simply subtract TEN from the number of letters. So, say the friend chooses a word of 12 letters. Subtract ten, gives you 2. Move 2 cards to bottom of pack. I find this a lot easier...?
@AmadeusFisarmonicus great idea, thanks for sharing!

@ travisking9321 Beauty!!!
This approach is dynamite! Thanks for all your contributions - Cheers!
@RingJando thanks bro! Cheers!
You are a wonderful Magician - Cheers! SUBSCRIBED!
thanks so much @RingJando, glad you are a sub now!
If the word is longer then you’d move how ever many letters longer than 9 you would set down the last card (players choice card) and when restacking them if there were say 12 letters you’d make sure to restack the card into the third position.
nice, thanks for commenting!
lots of work went into this video.
yes indeed, and thanks for your comment...
It made me think of a coiled snake and a roller coaster as well.
good to know, thanks!
very I love scuba diving but I'm sure I wouldn't want to see some of those creatures while swimming......
no problem, all my creatures are super friendly...pretty sure...
I never would have guessed it was boxes in boxes and the music was perfect with it.
thanks for your comment, I appreciate it!
this is captivating
thanks!
No me sale para copiar el patron de rectángulos en las mascaras de recorte, alguien me ayuda?
@lu01888 what happens when you try to copy?
Such a good trick
@resahartleib it's one of my favorites too, thanks for commenting
It’s fascinating how he gets the water to move that way.
@resahartleib it took me a lot of experimentation, thanks for your feedback
This shows a very vivid imagination.
@resahartleib thanks!
Love this stuff
@resahartleib good to know, thanks for commenting!
Good card trick… i would not have thought of this.
@resahartleib you can learn a lot from watching tutorials, thanks for commenting
What is with the ridiculous music?
@stefanssmellsvictory105 thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it! I was trying to add mysterious sound effects. Sorry I disappointed you. Please help me. What music do you wish I had used?
Really liked this trick
@resahartleib thanks!
If the words is more than 9 letters how?
@michaeljo3823 here's what I want you to do. Take nine cards, note the bottom card. That card is your target. You have already moved their card to the bottom (see tutorial). When you start to spell a long word don't put the cards on the table. With each letter you spell, move the top card to the bottom of the deck. Take a look at the deck after you've spelled the first nine letters. Where is the target card? Back on the bottom. For example, use the word RESPONSIBILITY. If you spell the word, go through the first nine letters. There are now FIVE letters left in the word, I-L-I-T-Y. Therefore, before you start spelling the word, and with the target card on the bottom, move FOUR cards to the bottom before you start spelling the word. The target card is now in position five. Start to spell the word, moving cards from the top to the bottom of the deck with each letter. When you come to the end of the word, in this case the letter Y, turn that card over. That will be the target card. SUMMARY Your friend's word is greater than nine letters. Subtract nine from the number of letters in the word. THEN SUBTRACT ONE MORE! Move that many cards from the top to the bottom. Spell each letter by moving a card from the top to the bottom. Expose the card when you spell the last letter of the word. Hope this helps.
This is so good!
@resahartleib thanks, this is one of my favorites
@resahartleib thanks, I modified it from other tutorials to work for any word
Hi how many do you count for number 3 and number 4?
@robertjones5852 I'm sorry I wasn't clear on that. The counting is 26, 25, then 24 then 23. Hope this helps.
thanks 👍
you are very welcome!
Love your videos keep up the great work
thanks Bob, I have 3 more videos I'm working on right now...
@@mystery_guy looking forward to seeing them thanks for everything
nice
thanks!
What if they lie and say a card more more than nine letters
then you're beat, get a new friend
What if I can't spell?😀😀😀😀
then you're in trooble!
@@mystery_guy Nise wun!!!
Grat video but im a bit confused when did he pick which card is his and if he can choose in which pile each card goes how do i know for sure that he puts it in the first pile at the top
good questions, thanks for asking! Your friend picks his/her card at the 1:43 mark. The spectator never touches the cards, you do. That way the piles are handled correctly. Thanks again.
Thank you, sir. Simple, concise - very helpful!
most welcome!
If the word mentioned is over 9, just say, "we ran out of cards, so it must be this last one..."
that'll work!
but how the hell this works?
not sure what you are having trouble with; my tutorial explains everything
@@mystery_guy I mean it does work. The question is how and why? It seems to be working in English only (
Solution: "Choose any word, but one with no more than 9 letters, of course, as I only have 9 cards".
quite right, but my method works for ANY word, much more mystifying
@@mystery_guy Yes, but don't you need 'casually' to keep moving cards while you slowly and carefully count (in your head?) how many letters are in the long word? And not every performer or audience-member is a strong speller. There could be quite a delay between the word being announced and dealing the reveal, but no doubt your more ambitious method could be viable in practice.
Also instead of that last step if you ask the cards for " truth" and spell that out, it works every time.
quite right, but my method works for ANY word, much more mystifying
Looks great!
thanks to you my friend!

How do I save the file in my pc whitout losing the animation?
hi Bruna...if I understand your question correctly, you need to click on File then click Save As then save the file. The next time you open the file everything will be as you left it. Does this help?
Mistery Guy; I'm currently watching all your videos. They are incredible, excellent. Congratulations on the way you explain it. Even though it's not in the same field, your videos will help me a lot in my projects for a large company. Congratulations once again. You are a very enlightened person.
thanks for the kind words! I used to be an education consultant for computers, and have traveled all around the world with contracts with governments and corporations. I learned a fair bit on how people like to have things explained to them. I am working on new projects every day, stay tuned! What videos would be more pertinent with your work?
@@mystery_guyThe first video I saw on your channel, and it was very important for me, was the PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL ANIMATION POUR COFFEE. This video helped me a lot with a printing project I'm developing, also for the government. I'm almost finished with just a few details left. Your video was very useful for this project to take the next step. It's really cool to see this project come off the screen and be able to be printed and have the same effect as the screen. The detail is that I can do this with just one side of the sheet. Thank you very much. And keep making more videos, you will be helping more people!!!!
So very cool love it
thanks so much metroduck! I made the animation using Blender. I will be posting a new video very soon, it will be a #short. Look for it.
thanks! very entertaining 🙂
most welcome @wiktorweremczuk6762! It was fun to work on. If you liked that one, try my video on domino toppling animation ua-cam.com/video/NwkyLP9Vt7g/v-deo.html

thanks so much @karenprine5313! I tried very hard to make it a really good domino toppling and a great video.
WOW THAT'S AWESOME I will share this on my Facebook page more people has to see this I hope alot will see what you have done
thanks metroduck! I too hope a lot of people get to see it...
Can you help me with saved file
I'd like to help Mark, what help do you need?
This is so much easier than what I was trying to do omg thx ur a life saver!!!
thanks for your comment Sam, and you are most welcome!
my god, i so very thank you for My teacher, thanks and good luck to you and yourfamily from Vietnam ^^
hello @Lamp.4.U thanks you for your kind words. I was in Ha Noi a long time ago teaching computers to government employees. I have a lot of friends there. Beautiful country, beautiful people.
@@mystery_guy oh, that's wanerfull godnesss
Just discovered your tutorial series and really looking forward to following them. I just switched from Carrara to BforArtists. This is a fork of blender. It has all the blender, tools and functions but a superior interface. Unfortunately, there are very few tutorials. So I have been on the search for simple blender, tutorials, I can translate into BforArtists . Thank you for posting them. They are Uber helpful.
Glad you followed my tutorial! I'm sure my series will be a big help to you. Keep me up to date on your progress, okay?
Great relief for me. My total confusion about the use of multiple cameras was removed. Teaching in a simplest way is an art. And God blessed you with that art. Thank you so much.
Hi @RamKumarReddyPQC ... I spent 20 years teaching computers for governments and corporations all over the world. I learned how to keep things simple and easy to understand. Thanks for your kind words.
Excellent tutorial. Really very very helpful to the beginners of Blender. You made the Blender learning just as simple as making a cup of coffee. Take my Salute for your generous and hardwork. Thank you so much.
Hi @RamKumarReddyPQC ... I remember when I started learning Blender, it was really, really hard. I don't want other people to go through that. Thanks so much for your comment.
@@mystery_guy Thank you so much for your kind heart. I want to use Blender for Pharmaceutical tutorials. I have recently started learning Blender. Your tutorials are very helpful to me.
