They call me Tricky. I’m a trucker from New Zealand with over 30 years experience in the transport industry as a driver, not counting the years loading and riding in trucks before getting into the drivers seat. I owned my own rig for about 8 years as an owner/operator with the Mainfreight group. I’m currently working for John Lockley carting general freight and timber around the North Island in a pretty special truck, a 2023 W900 SAR Legend series Kenworth, a new truck with old school cool, which is what we’re all about.
Any questions or comments are most welcome. As are requests and suggestions for future videos

Pahiatua Track Split Screen

Detoured over the old Pahiatua track a while back so grabbed this footage. Unfortunately, I forgot to put the foam sleeve on the outside camera, so the wind noise is a bit annoying, but probably still slightly more entertaining than the inside camera listening to talkback radio with me haha. Enjoy

Hey guys... Very sorry posting has been slack lately, I have been taking plenty of footage but spare time has been short lately for editing. Here's a quick one from a couple of weeks back.

The title says it all really. Still planning to do some driving POV videos at some point.
Beautiful truck. I see you when I'm heading the other way some times. There's certainly all kinds of drivers on this hill on any given day. Big thanks to all the truckers. To all the others, just have some patience, use the slow lanes, stay within your lines.
Law changed not long before i got my license 21 years ago about indicating around a roundabout i think. I remember studying it the old way but by the time i was practicing driving it was the current way. No one indicates in my town and it holds up traffic badly
See you around Auckland quite a bit, will give you a wave next time I see ya!
I love that road, I used to drive a truck aver that hill a few times a year. Really loved it.
Great vid mate, those truck drivers who daily the rimutakas could probably do it with the eyes closed
Looks like one of those Afghan trucks. The ones with Titanic stickers all over them.
Cheers for the video bro, I’ve been wanting to know where upper and lower windy are for the longest time now.
Totality agree 100% Been in a larger vehicle and the pubic don't understand about HT drivers or they just don"t care or understand!
Great vid thanks! Great POV great clean lines, can’t even match that doing the remutuks in my hatchback. 😅
We're lucky to have you on our roads mate. Cheers
Damn thats a smooth ride. Our old 904 bouncrs the eff outa me going over.. shes an 04 on the logs. Bo power steering either. Phat vid m8, the commuters do my head in...🤘🏼🤘🏼
I took that road many times on a class 4 truck for three years now. Thanks for the tips very useful. Nice truck mate. Can’t wait to jump on one of this américain truck. 🤙🏽
Its a pity that the video cannot not really show how step that road is in parts. Good Video. Good to see on video just how some drivers are so stupid (Lack Patience) on Passing Lanes or these now so called Slow Traffic Lanes.
😂😂😂😂
I feel your pain. I'm in the ag sector, trying to move equipment at 40-50kph is just getting harder and harder with the installation of wire ropes and barriers. Our smallest tractor is 2.4 wide but goes up to 3m with a machine on the back. Whoever comes up with these road designs doesn't seem to consider that at all.
Fantastic Road!
There are moves afoot, via Simon Bridges, Andrew Garden, Andrew Hopkirk and Hugh Milliken to put a new highway through the Rimutakas. Unfortunately, no tunnel, but a super highway through the most pristine, ancient valley.. land at Mt Messenger owned by Tony and Debbie Pascoe. These good people have been subject to the most intense pressure to sell their land, even being confronted in their own home and yelled at. An intolerable situation. Why should ancient, pristine land be given over to a boy racer highway? Please spread awareness, this cannot happen.
Bro make some videos of a full detail wash and polishing
is that the big shiny gold truck with the chrome I often see in the wairarapa?
Sharp alright fulla. Gives me the shits every time I drive that road. Only road I've driven in the country so far that puts me on edge, knowing how ignorant people are to the dangers. Keep up the content brother🤙
Great vid. Travel the road a lot too and fully appreciate what you guys have to do this hill. Have noticed the same regards toots when slower vehicles pull over. Always flick the hazards myself. The 80km between feathers & Greytown annoying. Cheers for the content 🍻
Sketchy af. Some big drops. Chur bro.
Couldn't agree more, very frustrating! These drivers indicating to go straight on roundabouts may as well indicate on every bloody bend in the road!
I heard a chick with a licence that the seperated median was for bikes and scooters. She gave it some thought, though.😂😂😂😂
can you do a vid on how to float gears. I sometimes start off the morning sweet as and then by mid day I get a few grinds, maybe fatigue
That’s y the road toll is so high kiwis are ignorant drivers
I remember you mentioning the lack of gratitude from cars on one of your last videos and then I noticed it myself when I pull over on that same hill in the truck and they just don’t give a shite!!! Sign of the times my man. Cool vid mate 😎
Id give you a thank you toot mate
@@___.___.___.___.___.___.___ Thats the one Mate 😎 Enjoy your weekend
Awesome video mate, great commentary. You are so right about Kiwi drivers being so far up themselves. Not speed that kills , it impatient drivers. Like you I'm on the roads most nights in a van and see a lot of stupid stuff. Cheers Bman👌
Awesome video, no surprises just a normal day on Remutaka hill.
Very cool videos and very interesting topic that you are talking about. I would love to go for a ride in a truck to experience what it is like.
Great flick man. Keep them coming. I have done and always will give a beep and a wave. Way to many people out there stuck so far up them selves these days. 50T will eat your Honda like a speed bump.
Awesome vlog... great tutorial, stay safe on the road brother 👍 logger from the Hawkes Bay Wairoa
Keep the videos coming🤙🏻
fantastic commentary
Awesome video mate, keep them coming. Also great how you are explaining about trucking. Stay safe driver 🙏

Lockley still not paying his bills these days ?.
@@petermiller9473 I have no idea what you’re talking about. He pays me just fine
Rimutaka car drivers are a bread of their own and have Jak respect......Shame
Kiwi driving in oz. I miss NZ roads.
I know were you are coming from m8 I have a cdl for the states and did drive here for a bit stock truck but now NFW. the main thing that piss me of is the tail gater's If I can not see your mirrors you can not see me. then with what you have gone over I will hang back keep the 2 sec rale
I've been saying for years that the government needs to put a road tunnel through the Remutakas. They did it for the trains so why not for vehicles as well. We have a tunnel boring machine in Auckland currently doing nothing.
$$$
Need to fix the roads first from all those truck company's fucking it all the time ask the government that not that they give a rats
Great Vlog, brings back memories when I used to drive for Booths Transport and delivering to that same Timber place, on a Truck and Trailer. Now driving R/T in Melbourne Aus.
Mean as truck great operator excellent driving skills bro great to see, love the music, cheers mate
Interesting thanks
Welcome back 😊
So ur the ignorant arswipe that doesn't wave that works for John just need some white gloves and a fruit hat so u get notified ur a blow ars more😂😂
Top job!
Ah yes, that beautiful exhaust sound on an equally beautiful rig! That rig of yours is just awesome, it's one of my favorites!! I assume it's running the X15 Euro 5 600 HP engine and Eaton 18 speed manual, right? Can you please do a couple ASMR's for me? First, I'd like a super long unedited in cab ASMR with windows down, beginning with engine start up at the beginning, shifting, jaking, takeoffs, idling at lights, etc, and engine shutdown at the end. And second, I'd like a super long unedited ASMR from this perspective as well, with everything mentioned above. ASMR videos help me fall asleep at night, and I'd love some super, super long ones on a W900 SAR Legend like this one! Please make each ASMR as long as possible - for me, the longer the ASMR's, the better! Please let me know ASAP.
Will do what I can
@@Tricktrucker awesome, looking forward to them!!
Learnt in a D series in the early 80's at 11 yrs old, first gear steering on the market garden. Also just absolutely loved watching the aerodynes parked up at Produce Markets downtown Ak in the early 80's unloading while my uncle was buying at the auction for his fruit n vege shop, he used to tell me they'd driven up over night from central Otago with stone fruit for the markets, it was like BJ & the Bear come to life!! Trucked all over UK and some of europe in the late 90's and then Auckland for a few years in a ol 1987 W924. Well Said! Subscribed.
You drove past our yard just under the Sylvia Park overbridge there.
