During my freshman year of college, while attending a HBCU, I registered to take the required freshman course in english. I was assigned to read a James Baldwin paper back book entitled: "The Fire Next Time". I read the book and wrote my summary explaining my thought's on what the author was attempting to articulate in his writings/book. BTW, it was an excellent read too!! Next, I submitted my paper to my English Professor. Later, I said to myself: 🗣I'm in!! The black man in America has to put that work in to demand within the framework of the legal system his full civil rights now and to get those constitutional civil rights by Any Means Necessary if it has to come to that. RIP Bruhs Malcolm X and James Baldwin. Both of you fought the good fight and got into good trouble advocating for the rights of Black Americans. 🗣For that, I am deeply grateful. Much love and respect to both Bruhs Malcolm X and James Baldwin. BTW, had I not attended and graduated from a HBCU I may have never known about the brilliant author James Baldwin. With Malcolm and Baldwin in the same room it would have been great if the other guys had just shut up and let them talk about agreements and differences. Instead it was the incesant pestering on the questions of violence and degree of separation that NOI sought. Malcolm didnt care about the white man, he wanted to be away from its influence, meanwhile Baldwin cared deeply, he often spoke and wrote about the negative consequence that the white mans hate had upon himself. For baldwin that was the path to change. I would have loved to hear Malcolm respond to the impossibility of the white mans reckoning as baldwin spoke of the impossibility of separation. As always, over time malcolm comes out on top. Although I agree that the white man suffers (although not economically and in their power) but in his humanity.
