Maurice Murphy, absolutely superb trumpet playing. Great to see the "long D trumpet" particularly played by a master.

I was privileged to get a few lessons from John when he lived in Wells, Somerset. As well as a brilliant musician he was a great teacher. What he taught me has stayed with me and I thank him for that.

This music gives me a full assurance for TOMORROW. 😭😭 I know one day He shall come and take me home where there are no heartaches🙏🙏🙏 Amen

The PJBE produced some of the most refined and satisfying virtuosi performances and recordings of brass music ever. This, (first I’ve heard it), with The Academy of St Martin in the Fields is certainly among them!
