    You are mistaken sir. Left hand turns are 3 times longer than right. The camber in the road does not move the contact patch more than a 1/16th of an inch.

    Are these deer wild? That's awesome that they trust you enough to take food out of your hand.

    • @Jodyrides
      @Jodyrides 21 годину тому

      these deer are gold diggers.. They love our corn, not us. We go through about 200 pounds of deer corn a month. in 50 pound bags.. There is only one deer that will eat peanuts out of our hand. That is the head of the family mother. Two of the deer or her last year’s babies, and two fawns from this year.. we’ve been here a little more than 35 years, we started feeding the deer about 15 years ago, to try to keep them from eating all of our flowers and bushes.. The head of the family mothers will chase the babies away once they are about two years old. She will actually charge them and headbutt them or whack them with her Front legs, always chasing them until they just go away and start their own lives somewhere else.. some of the ones that were chased away, the females, will hang around by themselves when the other deer are gone. My wife feeds them separately if they show up. But they can’t show up when the others are eating because the mother will chase them. Sometimes I will get up at 2 o’clock in the morning to get a drink, and I will look out the kitchen window, and one of those loaners will be standing down in the yard where we feed them like a statue in the dark alone. I will, of course have to go down and get a cottage cheese container, full of corn and feed the poor thing.. when the female drives the males away, I have no idea where they go. We only see males in the late fall for about two months. The males stick together, sort of, but after rutting season, The males disappear again. I never see the males in the summer or spring time… every June, the next generation shows up with all their white spots. They can walk shortly after they are born… we have had a couple born right in our yard. They instinctively know not to move when they are born, you can walk right up to them, and they will just lay there. We don’t go near them or touch them. When the mother shows up, they get up and follow the mother. The mother doesn’t bring the babies around to eat for a few weeks at least. The babies won’t eat corn anyway. After a few weeks, the mother will bring the babies and the mother will eat corn while the babies are nursing. This mother that shows up here has had twins last year, and twins again this year.. so we give her extra. That’s the one that eats out of our hands, the mom of the flock of deer that live here. Three generations. .

    Everything you said about your Venture applies to my Moto Guzzi 1400 California Tour. Really, every single item you mentioned in comparison to a GL. I love my California. I think it might be even easier to work on than your Yamaha. I agree completely that you can make a bike so complex and removed from sensation that they are not great at all. And after many BMWs over many years, the newer generation ones have lost all appeal to me for many reasons but primarily the company and the customers are adversaries and that is stupid to agree to pay for. If someone likes them, fine. I’m done with them.

      I have just under 200,000 combined miles on the four moto guzzi Machines I have owned since 1980 1979SP 1000 1980 V 50 ll (The one that had electronic ignition that did not start to advance the timing till the RPMs reached 2000 RPMs. Which is the reason they went back to points in 1981 on the V 50.) A 2004 V 11 sport - The most uncomfortable motorcycle in the history of the entire universe.. I tried a Corbin seat, I drilled the upper triple clamp and put 7/8 inch handlebar perch saddles in the triple clamp and installed Honda CB 400 F super bike bars, I put on a fly screen tiny fairing.. I put on Buell ulysses foot pegs, which lowered the foot pegs about 2 inches, so I wasn’t in that crouch position with my knees bent all the way constantly.. I gave up, there is no way to civilize that machine riding position. only the people that can tell the difference between regular concrete and rebar reinforced concrete can tell the difference in the suspension settings on those Ohlin suspensions..) A 2007 Norge/ 1300 GT.. two valve engine. The nicest most comfortable of all of my Guzy‘s. all of them had one thing in common, those electrical components.. Oil sending unit failures, that is quite a surprise when you’re cruising along on the interstate at 80 miles an hour alone at night, and your oil pressure light comes on. Pull over, check the oil, pull the valve, cover off and start the engine to see if you have oil flow… I had the oil pressure sending unit fell on three of my four Guzy’s. they also overloaded some of their relays. The start relay was a problem on my V 11 sport and my Norge. That really has 8 A of draw on it when you turn the key on before you even touch the starter and it is only a 10 amp relay… those were minor, I’m not gonna call them problems, I’m gonna call them “quirks” , Quirks are problems you have to deal with that aren’t really big problems, but they occur from time to time.. I never had a mechanical breakdown, I never had to replace any engine components, just throttle cables on my SP 1000 because they were looking a bit past it. So I bought new cables which were too long on the cable internals. So I had to cut them and put silver solder ball ends on them myself. You have to use hi silver content, Solder or the ball will pull off. You can’t use just pure lead. I replaced the universal joint in my SP 10402000 miles when I pulled the drive shaft to lube the splines because there was a bit of rust coming out of one of the caps on the U joint, I didn’t want to roadside failure, so I just threw a new one in. Other than that, just gaskets filters tires .. One little tip for you when I was a Honda mechanic at a Honda motorcycle dealership. A bulletin came from Japan about head gaskets and base gaskets and gaskets in general on Hondas. The bulletin told the service departments to buy a can of rust, oleum, silver aluminum paint, a can that you open with a screwdriver and put a brush in, not a spray can any time you are replacing a paper, dry gasket, clean both metal surfaces, get a stick or a screwdriver and scrape the goo paste from the bottom of the paint can without stirring or shaking the can, because the only thing you want is that thick paste at the bottom of the can apply that gout to the dry gasket on both sides and put the gasket in place wet and putting the engine back up. Not only will that gasket not stick to either surface, but you will be able to reuse that gasket over and over.. that is what I have been doing with my Moto Guzzi valve cover gaskets for decades. I still have the rust oleum quart cam of Silver aluminum paint that I bought in 1974. That’s what I use on my valve, cover gaskets, and I have never had to buy a second set. This is good to know on a Guzzi, because every time I pull the plug to drain the oil, I would check the valves, which, as you know, it takes about 30 minutes if that once you have the plugs out.. I really liked my Norge. I thought it was one of the best looking motorcycles on the planet, it handled well, it had all the torque I loved., it was a six speed, I loved the clutch chatter. Single-sided, swingarm, three speed, heated grips, onboard trip, computer, electric windshield, center stand, it was fantastic. But all of my Moto Guzzi.’s seem to be made for someone no taller than 5‘8“. It was just too much of a bend in my leg on all those machines, especially the V 11 sport. After two hours behind bars on my Norge, I needed to get off and take a walk. you are correct about Guzy being even easier to work on Find My Venture to a point.. valve adjustment check on a Gucci. I think it’s around 3500 miles or less, on my Venture it’s every 26,000 miles. And when I checked the valves at 30,000 miles, none of them were out of spec.. right now I have my eyes open always I’m looking for a Quattro..or a breva 1100.. I still have a case of the I ride 10 W 60 motor oil that’s $18 a quart , specified by the owners manual of my Norge.. guzy makes a very dependable machine. They don’t make them to a price, they make them the way they should be made, and raise the price if needed.. One other little thing about them. They can be difficult to resell. Most people never even heard of them. There were three dealers within two hours of my home here in Western Pennsylvania, they’re all gone… So are the BMW dealers that were within an hour of my home, not that I would ever buy another BMW.. one K1200 LT was enough.. I hit a deer at 70 miles an hour on that machine. The machine never moved. $5500 damage, I just coasted to a stop. I still have a mark on my right calf, where the deer hoof whipped around my bike when I hit it right in the rib cage.. that was not my first deer collusion, and not my first deer collision by motorcycle either I don’t ride at night anymore or during rut season in November/December.. I still love moto guzzi . even if they are not Japanese, perfect. One thing about a Guzzi.. that a Japanese motorcycle does not have, and will never have. A moto guzzi has a soul.. they are a living, breathing thing with a pulse. But they are not for everyone. You have to be able to twirl the wrenches to do those little adjustments and chicks… I went to the moto guzzi breva owners rallies in new Cumberland, West Virginia from 1980 open till the virus shut everything down. I was there in 1987 when there were almost 600 Guzy is registered at that rally. I rode down to that site last year in 2023 on memorial day weekend, as usual, and only one other moto guzzi showed up.. that virus from China sure shut that down, along with tons of other things., I found a used Stelvio on the other side of Pittsburgh a few years ago. It looked great in the pictures. But when I got there, it had apparently never been out of the weather, all the plastic and rubber was faded and cracking, all of the non-stainless hardware had rust on it.. it led a neglected, orphan life. I didn’t buy it. that is one thing I have noticed about the motor Guzzi owners more than any other brand. Their motorcycles look like they have been ridden , and many of them look like they have never been washed. They look like rented mules, which is a testimonial for just how durable they are. They are as solid and as reliable as a sledgehammer… they’re not necessarily built for lookin, as much as they are built for ridin..

      @@Jodyrides Very cool. If you find a lightly used 1400 California Tour give a try. It’s a Guzzi for sure but very changed from the 1100 and, compared to the original police bike models, well, a lot of water under the bridge for sure. Some people don’t seem to like them as much but I think it’s a spectacular air cooled engine with just enough electronics to make it run better. There are the inevitable weirdnesses waiting of course. The new V7 850 (confusing they named it that) is also very sweet. But now they have brought out a 2025 water cooled bike. Inevitable but I can’t help think it’s a little sad. Hopefully it’s wonderful. I was really glad to hear of all that mechanical experience; much more than I have, and thanks for the gasket hint! I hope to never need it and also sort of want to try it simultaneously! Cheers.

      sorry, the video is so terribly dark, but I think I got my points across. Here now that I have replaced those spark plug cabs that were a problem on this machine around the world, I mean Honda was going to do a worldwide recall because of these spark plug caps.. what they were doing instead according to the Internet was any time a machine was in any dealer for any type of service, they automatically had the service department, put the spark plug cap replacement on the machine, while the machine was in there at no charge, rather than recall all of them.. now here in September 2024. My NT 700 is running just as I hoped it would. Not a hiccup. I have published several videos, riding the anti-700, you can hear for yourself. it’s running like a Swiss watch..

    Is that true these engines gulp oil?

    • @Jodyrides
      @Jodyrides 3 дні тому

      I don’t know that about these engines because I never owned one of the Kawasaki big the twin bikes. I have a video of the one I looked at last year which was a 2010 Vulcan voyageurs. I really liked that bike. It fit me very well, I liked the instrumentation, I liked the look, I liked the bags, I even liked the color, Burgundy. I have the video on UA-cam of the short test ride I took for about 15 minutes. The engine sounded like an old sewing machine with only 15,000 miles on it. Hydraulic valve lash adjusters. That’s what scared me away from that bike. The noise I heard, which you can clearly hear in the video I made taking a test ride on that machine… it sounded like castanets clattering away.. so I didn’t buy that one when I saw the machine in this video, it was so clean that I didn’t wanna buy it because I don’t wash my bikes, it would never be this clean again if I bought it. This machine was museum quality clean. And it wasn’t because it was cleaned, it was because it never got dirty since new.. it was the ladies bike sitting in the background. She bought it new in 1999. They were nice people and I didn’t want to insult her by making the traditional lowball offer and working up from there. I just didn’t want it. This bike should go to a collector or a museum..

    Nice bike, I'd prefer an aftermarket exhaust myself. I've seen a couple with aftermarket exhaust and they sound goooood. 3300 miles, nobody rode it hardly apparently. I didn't know they had the exhaust deceleration pop like the Royal Star Venture and Tour Deluxe. I disabled the AIS system on my Venture and Tour Deluxe to stop that.

    • @Jodyrides
      @Jodyrides 3 дні тому

      I completely agree that aftermarket exhaust sounds better on some machines like the drifter. What I like when I see The stock airbox and air cleaner and exhaust system on a motorcycle that I’m considering buying. That means it hasn’t been tampered with. That’s all I meant when I said, it has the stock exhaust? I like that. It’s not the exhaust that I like, it’s the fact that the bike has not been experimented with… I was selling bikes, part time, when the suzuki intruders were very popular. Some customers would buy a brand new bike and order slip Ons, and we would put the slip Ons on their bike before they picked the bike up at their request, they paid for the slip Ons, of course, and the labor to put them on. But unknown to us, and the customer at first, the bikes ran horrible, they had an off idle hesitation, making them stall when pulling away from a stop sign. They be came hard to start. They needed The carburetors modified with a jet kit that was on the market. That was not reversible because you had to drill openings in the carburetors to install some of the components of the Jet kit as per instructions with the kit. after the modifications/tampering, the bikes ran horribly Rich. I mean you did not want to be behind one of those bikes because your eyes would start burning from the unburnt gas.. we started having customers sign a piece of paper, explaining that the bike will not run correctly with the jet kit installed and aftermarket slip on mufflers. They got a copy and we got a copy and it was notarized when they would pick the bike up knew that we told them this is not the right thing to do. in spite of that warning, they still came back, complaining that their bikes don’t run right with slip Ons and they run very rich with the jet kit, so we stopped installing the kits and slip Ons. We flat refused to do it. We would sell them the jet kit, and slip Ons, but we would not do the work.. When I roadraced motorcycles, I blamed my machine for me, not winning my first year, and every race I had different modifications. I ended up completely destroying that machine by over modifying it. When the problem was not the machine at all, it was me. I was the one that was slow, not the bike. I learned my lesson, and I showed up the next year with a totally stock machine. Over the next seven years, I won six championships, two time national champion on a totally stock machine, at least, in the way that it ran, I did upgrade tires, suspension, but I wouldn’t even remove the stock air cleaner. Most of my competition did, modify their bikes, and they made them slower. that’s when I learned that the factory knows more than we do, and I prefer to leave things just as the factory designed them.. additionally, you don’t void your warranty when you leave the bike stock.. I remember Honda voiding the warranty on a Goldwing because that machine had a engine failure. Did they determine was because of an oil filter.. The customer installed a Chinese made chrome oil filter on his Goldwing, and Honda would not honor The warranty because it says right in the owners manual of every motorcycle I ever read, to use OEM parts. That includes filters… that goldwing buyer?? ended up buying a salvage motor from a salvage yard, and had the shop install the motor out of a crashed Goldwing in his machine.. I have a couple videos showing how I plugged that system to try to illuminate the off throttle popping on my Venture. I put Harley Davidson Street glide mufflers on my Venture, not to make more noise, but to try to get a little more sound of the engine exhaust in my videos. Because my microphones are in my ear pockets of my helmet, and the dominant sound in my videos is not the exhaust, it’s the primary gears. That’s the only reason I tried using harley mufflers, totally stock ones on my Venture. So that my engine sounded better than just a set of primary gears… I couldn’t take the noise and went back to the stock Venture mufflers. I can’t explain how to sound coming out of those harley mufflers felt. When I would shut the engine off is when I could tell how loud those pipes were. I was in rock bands back in the 70s and 80s. It was loud, but when we would shut down the amplifiers and PA system, it was the silence that hurt all over my body after a gig. That is what it was like to shut my Venture off with the hog mufflers on it. I was unable to totally illuminate the off throttle popping when coasting on my Venture. It may be because I might have a slight air leak. But my system that I used copper plumbing cabs flared on the ends to go into those holes on those two. Parts of that system that have the hoses going to them for pumping air into the exhaust which causes the popping. I am confident I have those sealed and I still have some popping with the stock exhaust, so I think I have an air leak. I’ll get around to fixing it someday with new exhaust flange gaskets.

      @@Jodyrides I have aftermarket pipes on both my bikes. They still like to backfire but it is a rare occasion now since pipes have become "broken in" I like the sound and I wear earplugs when I ride anyway so the loudness isn't really a factor. Everyone always comments they love the unique sound of the bikes. My Tour Deluxe did run a bit rich after making the switch from stock pipes to aftermarket. The richness was nowhere near what you described though. I run a set of SharkRoad pipes on both. I tried a pair of HD Ultra Classic pipes on my Venture a while back and wasn't happy with them. I was given the HD pipes free so I figured why not? I ended up buying another set of Sharkroads. Have you done the Ivan's tune carb kit for your Venture? I'm thinking of doing it to both of my bikes, but I'm on the fence about deciding. The reviews I've seen say it gives the bike better throttle response. I've also done the Barnett clutch and pressure plate upgrade on both and am very happy with it.

    too nice for me Ray. I would feel guilty, riding it, getting it dirty. I took it for a half hour test ride. I could tell it had old gas in it because the exhaust really stunk like old gas but since it has two spark plugs per cylinder, the engine didn’t kick up a fuss… this is the second Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle I test Road. The other one was a 1700 2010 Vulcan voyager. I really liked that bike, but the engine was so noisy. You can hear it in the video I put on UA-cam. It sounded like somebody playing castanets because these engines have self adjusting hydraulic valve lash .. Both the 1700 I rode last year, and this engine felt like paint shakers, this one felt that way on and off throttle coasting down long Hills.. it felt tight, no slop in the shift. Linkage call it actually felt brand new. It’s on Facebook marketplace Pittsburgh for $5500… this is the first and only motorcycle I ever went to look at to buy, but I would not buy it because it is too nice.. I talked to the lady that owns it, she just quit riding it years ago. I explained that I could see the clutch fluid and brake fluid were never changed because the clutch fluid was the color of strong coffee through the site class, I also explained that it has tubes in the tires, so it needs both tires and tubes. They are just too old to ride on since they are a quarter of a century old.. I also pointed out that the oil should be changed with the filter and the final drive gear lube

      Ray I checked on eBay. There are lots and lots of radiators on eBay for your royal star for as low as $40, some of them with free shipping. … I think your machine is a 1997. Some of them have that they fit 1997, 1998, 1999 royal stars. Some of them actually had the fan attached and included. when you get a radiator on eBay, don’t put that grill/guard over the radiator. Do you live in a pretty warm place at times. That guard you put on your radiator blocked at least 25% of the airflow. .. when you put the new radiator on, which is not very difficult, make sure you use distilled water, unless the coolant you buy is already premixed 50-50 water/antifreeze. Then it is already mixed and you don’t have to worry about using distilled water… The most important thing is to make sure you get all of the air out of the system. These particular bikes are a little tricky to get all of the air out. Check out some videos on UA-cam that show you how to do that… they will be titled something like royal star or royal star venture coolant change… The radiator cap is a critical part of the system. The radiator cap on any vehicle does three things. it keeps the water under pressure when it gets hot. Keeping the water in the radiator under pressure prevents the water from boiling… what is boiling?.. boiling is simply a liquid changing into a gas.. keeping the water under pressure of maybe 10 or 12 pounds prevents the water/coolant from boiling at 212°, which is normal boiling temperature, it prevents that coolant from boiling until it reaches maybe 225° or so.. that’s why radiator caps have a spring loaded rubber stopper. To allow the system to build pressure up to a certain point to prevent boiling. The water is going to boil nearest the cylinders, do you want a liquid surrounding the cylinders inside the engine. That’s called the water jacket. If you have air bubbles which are a result of boiling in that water jacket right next to the cylinders, air bubbles can’t absorb the heat generated by the combustion. Then you have real trouble… The pressure that the radiator cap keeps in the radiator, prevents the water from boiling at 212°. The second important feature that a radiator cap does is The radiator cap allows excess pressure above let’s say 12 pounds to escape the radiator to protect the system from bursting. The radiator cap is designed to have a certain pressure from the spring that you can see when you remove a radiator cap, that spring will maintain up to a certain point a good seal against the radiator opening. Once the pressure is too high. The radiator cap allows that water/pressure to escape and go to the overflow catch tank. That’s that plastic bottle that goes from the neck on the radiator to that catch tank. that is critical. That protects the system and prevent you from losing your coolant. OK so when your engine cools, here’s the third thing a radiator cap touch that many people don’t even think about that hose going from the cap on the radiator fitting, to the plastic overflow tank, when the engine cools it creates a vacuum inside the system. Now, when your engine got hot, it lost coolant that flowed through the little hose so that overflow tank. later, when your engine cools, your engine is now low on antifreeze if it Lost some coolant due to the engine. Getting warm to the overflow tank. Now your system is low on coolant. The radiator cap will allow the engine to draw that antifreeze coolant back into the engine from that little plastic bottle.. radiator caps are not just a cork in a bottle. They are critical to the health of your engine, preventing the water from boiling, which is air pockets in the system… A telltale sign of a bad radiator cap on any vehicle, is collapsed, radiator hoses. if an engine is hot, they warn you right on the radiator cap not to open the radiator cap. That’s not so much for your protection from getting burned, as it is maintaining system integrity. If you open the radiator cap when the engine is hot, change the pressure inside the radiator. And as the engine cools, that pressure is dropping, like you sucking a milkshake through a straw, that will pull the coolant back into the radiator from the overflow plastic bottle. so, if you ever need a radiator cap on any vehicle, don’t buy one at the parts store it was made in China, that is one part you should always buy at your dealer, a very specific radiator cap made to the factory specifications for that vehicle tell me what happened to your radiator? Damage from a tip over or a rock? Or did your engine overheat? Possibly because the thermostat is bad or the water pump is bad. Using the green old style antifreeze for cars that The engines were cast-iron, that green antifreeze has something in it called silicates. They are tiny little abrasive particles that are corrosive to water pump, seals, and impellers. When you buy coolant for any vehicle, you should buy the recommended one The owners manual tells you to use. Since your bike is over 25 years old, that was a little bit before the new antifreeze that’s made to be aluminum compatible and has low silicate Contant were available. They are different colors now, orange, red, pink, Blue. You have to buy a coolant that’s aluminum compatible. Probably the orange color coolant. That’s probably already mixed with distilled water in the bottle when you buy it new. I don’t have to tell you that antifreeze is deadly. Keep it away from pets because it is sweet and they have been known to drink it. It shuts down your kidneys and that’s the end. So be careful what you do with the old antifreeze. You don’t want to just let it run I don’t want to just let it pour out on the ground near someone’s house that has a well, or you don’t want to pour down the drain in the lower to get into the water system. Last time I heard about 20 years ago, the company I work for garage has a250 gallon Old antifreeze collection container that a company comes and picks up and takes that container away to process that used antifreeze in the fleet of cars and trucks. My company has. 20 years ago it cost something like $500 for them to take one of those containers away and process the old antifreeze safely. I’m sure that cost a hell of a lot more today 20 years later. So be careful with antifreeze. tell me what happened to your radiator ray..

    Hood to see the v4 still going strong. I’m saving to buy a new Harley. Only because they don’t make new parts for my bike anymore. I wanted a new radiator after 30 years and I cant get one. So hopefully when I get a Harley if will be reliable and I can find parts for it

      Ray have a problem understanding why you can’t find a radiator. Even if you take it to a radiator shop to have it repaired, it would be a lot cheaper than buying a new bike. I’m a little surprised that those radiators are not the same as on the Venture’s. I don’t know if they are or not. But it surprises me that they’re not the same. if you like Harleys, then you should get one. I never had one, they just don’t make anything I like.. I was wondering why I wasn’t seeing more videos of yours I don’t know anything about Harleys except, you don’t want to buy a sportster or the bike with that engine, you want to get a real Harley.. do you want to watch do UA-cam guy that’s been living on a motorcycle for the past 30 years or more. Scooter tramp Scotty is his name. He has books out about life on the road, he and another guy with a UA-cam channel called DMV, dirty motorcycle vagabond. They spend the winters in Mexico living with friends, or moving around camping by themselves occasionally meeting up at places like Daytona, Sturgis, Laconia, the big motorcycle rallies in the United States, Scotty rides a Harley. I believe he had hundreds of thousands of miles on his. Harley, and he recently got a newer Harley, and in his videos he talks about the ones that aren’t very good and to avoid. But he doesn’t talk about the new ones. there are always always clean, extremely low, mileage motorcycles out there sitting in someone’s garage, like the Kawasaki, I just put a video of on my channel, and my Honda nt700 owner I bought in November 2023 that I’m riding now along with my Venture. I hope you do a lot of research on what it’s like to own a Harley and read some of the complaints about the Harley dealers people have videos of on UA-cam. I would definitely talk to some Harley owners in your area. get some first hand information from them and shop around. When you’re buying anything, it’s not the deal you get, it’s the deal you think you get. while you’re looking, don’t limit yourself to only buying a Harley, possibly, look at the Indian’s also.. I was in a new Indian dealership that opened about 10 minutes from my home two weeks ago. I was impressed. They actually offered me a job for the second time. The parts man there and I worked at the same dealership at one time he was a parts man I was a part time salesman I can’t help but notice every time I look at craigslist, the motorcycles for sale, there are more Harley’s for sale with unbelievably low mileage on craigslist than all other makes of motorcycles combined. Sometimes, there might be 100 motorcycles for sale on craigslist here in Pittsburgh, and 50 of them are Harleys if you do consider someone’s used Harley, make sure you check the NADA and Kelley blue book value of that motorcycle in those books that you can find online just type in an ADA motorcycle prices or Kelley blue book motorcycle values. It will tell you the amount of money. The bikes are worth, which determines how much the bank will lend you on a motorcycle. my bank will only lend you about 75% of the Kelley blue book value on a vehicle. So if there’s a motorcycle in there that says it’s worth $10,000, A bank will only lend $7500 on a vehicle that the book says is worth 10,000.. when you buy a brand new vehicle, the insurance is higher than if you buy a two-year-old vehicle when you buy a new vehicle or even a used vehicle, they are going to pressure the shit out of you to buy an extended warranty and those warranties don’t automatically cover everything, you have to pay more and more to get better and better coverage if you’re buying a new vehicle, it already comes with a warranty. And you can buy an extended warranty later. Personally, I would never buy an extended warranty on anything. my best friend likes BMW cars. He’s had four of them. He was paying $155 a month for over 10 years for those extended warranties on the cars he buys used which are returned lease cars. Over 10 years he paid over $18,000 for that insurance, the list of things they did not fix is much longer than the things they did fix. Things they didn’t fix. convertible top would not go up, not covered The panel in the drivers door, that control door locks, remote, keyless entry, and windows, not covered automatic transmission lever that could be put into manual mode to pretend you’re driving a stick, they were all breaking, not even salvage yards had used ones that worked, not covered drivers seat frame broke, not covered so my friend paid over $18,000 for that insurance, and he had to pay over $11,000 out of pocket to pay for those things that did break that were not covered, so that’s almost $30,000 he paid for insurance and the things that were not covered that he had to pay for separately. That’s more than he paid for two of those cars when he bought them used. One other thing to keep in mind, I don’t know if Harleys are a big theft item these days, but they certainly were in the past because of how interchangeable their parts are. I don’t know where you park your bike at night, but if you park it outside, I wouldn’t be sleeping very well. if you find a model that you like, do some research before you commit to it, and type in searches on UA-cam like, problems with Yamaha royal star, motorcycles, or whatever model, your Harley, you are interested in, look up about problems with them and see what you might be in for.. I never had one, so I don’t know anything about them, only what I’ve heard over the decades, and one of those things I’ve heard, is not to buy a sportster, get the Machine with the big engine.. meanwhile, I’ll look into finding a radiator for your Royal star. There has to be one available. Look on UA-cam and find a salvage yard that selling parts for one of those things. And ask them in the spot where you can ask seller a question, ask them if they have a radiator. …

    I have a 2020 z650. Coming from f800R 2017 then couple months with a BMW 310R. When the bike is moving along the traffic it's very fuel efficient. Driving around 80 km per hour, the fuel mileage in the painel says 29 km per liter. But, in heavy traffic it makes around 16 to 18 km per liter. Maybe a z400 would be more efficient in the heavy traffic. But z650 is same or more efficient in the highway

      wow, 65 miles to the gallon.. I think I might finally have gotten a honest 61 miles per gallon. Not sure because I filled the tank with the bike on the side stand. I weigh 220 pounds. I’m 5‘10“, it’s a good fit for me. I just ordered a set of GL 1800 foot pegs for it, because they are wider front to back. We will see how that works. They should be here September 3. I had this stripped down version of this bike with this very similar engine. It was called the hawk GT here in the USA. I spotted it one day sitting in the back of some guy’s garage as I was doing my rounds in his neighborhood working on my regular job. I struck up a conversation and ended up buying it. It was a 650 V twin., water cooled, single-sided, swingarm, no faring at all, 1300 miles. The kid was going away to college in a few weeks, and when I offered to buy it, he jumped at the chance. It was red… I had every intention of riding that bike for at least a year. But at the time I already had three street bikes. My FJ 1200, my Yamaha venture royale, and my commuter Honda pacific coast. I was working part time in a local Yamaha/suzuki shop selling bikes after working on weekends, and a guy came in looking for a bike for his wife used, we didn’t have anything. So I told him about my hawk GT. He brought his wife over To my house a few days later and they liked it. So I let it go with a nice profit without having to do anything to it… that bike was chain drive. I don’t remember exactly what year that machine was but I remember when I took it for a ride. I felt that it was a little cramped. That’s why I was willing to part with it. if the bags were detachable, they would stick out more because they would be on brackets.. I like the way the bags are tucked in tight.. If there is one country, I would like to ride my motorcycle in it is France.. are used to broadcast the daily, Tour de France bicycle race here and I would record the entire five or six hours a day just to look at the scenery, and those fantastic mountain roads.. I sold my Honda pacific coast that I commuted on for 24 years on eBay. The guy was asking me a lot of questions about fit and comfort and gas mileage before he came from St. Louis Missouri to pick it up here in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I asked him what he weighs. He said he weighed 260 at one time but he now weighs 200 pounds. I asked him how did you do that. He said he only did one thing. He stopped drinking coke a cola. That’s the only thing he stopped and within a year he dropped 60 pounds. He said he was addicted to it.

      that makes it unanimous, I agree. It is a complete package… I was that an Indian dealer that sells KTM, royal Enfield, and triumph in early August,(where I was offered a job two separate times now).. and there were people checking out my Deauville.. when I told them it was a 2010, the one guy’s jaw dropped. He thought it was a recent release by Honda… I feel fortunate to have located this machine quite by chance.. I actually told my riding buddy that he should buy this machine when it was available on a local website for sale called craigslist. I told him that that is exactly what he needs, some thing with bags, and a fairing, and a great seat and riding position, some thing with rubber top foot pegs… I told him, if you don’t buy it, I will, and so I did.. after I sorted out the issues it had from sitting all those years, it turned out to be better than I expected to the point, that I sold my Kawasaki Z 400.. I was trying to make my Kawasaki into something that the NT already is. A mid sized sport touring machine.. it’s perfect for me.. it has enough storage capacity without the trunk to carry all the things I wouldn’t dare leave home without. It does not roast me with heat from the engine or radiator, great seat, I still have not.had A full tank of gas run through it at one time to get an accurate miles per gallon check. I do know that it’s in the low 60s miles per gallon.. I just can’t remember exactly how to reset the odometer. It’s different from bike to bike. i’m waiting for the Summer heat to go away, before I start doing maintenance chores like pulling the dry shaft to lube the splines on the driveshaft, and in the Cush drive hub on the rear wheel, lube, the steering head bearings, change the fork oil, Lube, the shock, linkage, lube, the swingarm pivot bearings, I enjoy working on my machines as much as riding them.. even if it’s just making sure, I have all the tools required to do any roadside repairs in the tool kit. I had to make up a tool kit from scratch for this machine because, unfortunately, these machines were not supplied with tool kits from the factory ..That’s the first time i had that not happen.. One other little thing, I tend to behave on this machine .. some machines just are not comfortable until you find their rhythm of operation. My Kawasaki encouraged and complemented a brisk pace. Some bikes have transmissions that just do not like putting at a moderate pace, sort of like the two strokes were., They encouraged you to sprain speed limits, keep on the pipe.. The NT 700 is more like my Moto Guzzis.. they won’t be rushed.. there really is nothing. I would prefer to change on my NT.. Although I just ordered a set of Goldwing foot pegs for it off eBay for $18 free shipping. They are knock offs, but they will be close enough. They’re rubber topped, they are wider front to back… I’ll let you know how they work

    The angle of crowning of a road does not match the place where it's worn. Am I the only one not buying that explanation? People ride harder in the outside line.. because they are more comfortable, can see further, the turn is wider so you can ride harder.. Tires don't wear much when cruising straight on a highway. The wear when accelerating, when braking and cornering

    I own both a Venture and a Tour Deluxe and I've been wanting to change my horn out. They both have the same horns and they certainly do suck. I'm still pondering which one to go with. As for your keys, that's a good place to hide it, however, you should not have had to go to the parts store for Allen wrenches. The Allen wrenches for that should be included in the tool bag that came with the bike. It's in the bottom of the right saddlebag under the liner. Maybe yours was missing when you bought the bike? Both the Venture and Tour Deluxe come with them. These are great bikes. I've been all over the place on my 07 Tour Deluxe. As far south as Georgia (I live in the DC suburbs) and north as upstate New York and west as Ohio. She's got 95k on her and no signs of stopping. As long as you maintain it properly and don't ride it like you stole it and are running from the cops, these bikes are as reliable as it gets IMO, right up there with a Goldwing in reliability. I've had two Ventures, a 2000 model two-tone red that I bought used with 8k miles on it, and a 2007 blue and black with 48k on it currently. I've changed out both bikes' clutches to the Barnett clutch and converted the crappy incandescent lights rear and front to LED, added a third brake light with strobe to the trunk as well. I've been considering an Ivan's Tune carb kit for both as well. That's something I'll likely do over the winter months if I do decide to do it. Have you ever pulled a trailer with yours? I'm retiring next year from my job and I've been window shopping for a good used one on FB marketplace. I'd pull one with the Venture so I can moto camp my way to the West Coast and back.

    update on my bike in this video problem, there were two issues with this bike here as I make this comment in August 2024. The original😢 owner that bought the bike new, in 2010. He parked the bike in his garage sometime in 2015. He put stabilizer in the gas tank. I called him and asked him. Did you ever put anything in this gasoline when I saw all of that stuff that appeared to be like sand in the fuel. He said. I never put anything in that fuel, except for stabilizer.. I have several videos showing how packed with what looked like plaster of Paris or talcum powder, but fuel filter was. The fuel filter is only about 30 mm x 30 mm, a little bigger than a square inch of surface area. It looks like a piece of gauze, or a coffee filter.. OK 😢I have a video showing how I could get my whole arm inside the fuel tank and I used a Scotch-Brite pad to brush all that dried powder from the inside walls of the gas tank. I cleaned the filter. Honda doesn’t say to replace the filter, they say to clean it, which I did. And here in the summer of 2020 for six months later, the machine is running fine, because I found the second issue with not only this machine, but it was a problem with practically all of the NT700 motorcycles around the world I was gonna do a recall on the spark plug caps. They develop cracks, and the symptoms are occasional hesitation, occasional stalling when you go to pull away from a stop.. now that the fuel filter and inside the fuel tank have been cleaned by hand, and I replaced the spark plug caps, the machine has been running as it should..

      I know what you mean. That is exasperating, waiting to fill a tank, and you’re holding that heavy can, and it takes three times longer than it used to with a conventional gas can to fill your lawnmower or leaf blower or whatever gas tank.. I often ended up spilling gas with that EPA nozzle that came with this gas can in the video, I needed three hands, Four hands would have been better, because I had to hold the can longer with two hands in position, and then i needed two hands to operate the valve.. The results working the valve and holding the heavy can with just 2 hands was, spilled gas With that maniacal contraption they had attached to the nozzle on these EPA approved, gas cans.. i’ve gone dirtbike, riding with friends that had these difficult to operate gas nozzles on their gas cans, and it seemed like it took a few minutes for them to fill their gas tanks on their motorcycles when they would go back to the truck for gas. Meanwhile, I would put gas in my bike, and it would take about 20 seconds to fill the tank , and I didn’t have to operate the nozzle by hand, getting gas on my hands..

    Do the deer ever fight? Do you ever have to pull them apart?? 🤣🤣

    • @Jodyrides
      @Jodyrides 10 днів тому

      do the deer ever fight? The dominant female chases her yearlings and other deer away when it’s lunchtime. She will go up to them and whack them with her front legs if they don’t see her coming. When they do see her coming, they will back off of the food. every fall they go from Buck skin tan fur to dark fur color.. That’s when the males come around looking for females during the rut. The males will fight over the females. There’s one old Buck with a gray/white snout that the other males back away from. The males disappear in late December or January I don’t know where they go, but they are not around until the following November. But they don’t get into any big dust ups that I have ever seen… I will say they eat mostly anything. All of our shrubs, most of the flowers, my wife plants, I tried planting corn, they get it, head, pumpkins, the size of volleyballs once, with vines, about 20 feet long across my lower yard, one night they found them and ate everything. we buy 50 pound bags of deer corn. Usually four or five bags at a time call me and we mix it with some kind of livestock feed for horses and cows mixed in. i’m seeing signs of bears and people that live nearby have pictures of bears grubbing around their garbage cans. So we are careful not to put out more food than the deer can eat right now. We don’t want to attract bears.

      thanks. I’m not really a bike washer. I’ve actually never washed this bike with water, I don’t think I’ve been caught in the rain on it yet either it’s always been garage kept by the original owner and me. That sun is rough on motorcycles that shit out.. I just use that Honda spray, polish and cleaner, I’ve never taken soap and water to any of my motorcycles over the past 30 years.. I think this machine has about 34,000 miles on it. So far so good …it’s a 2008. Yamaha has been using this basic engine platform longer than the gold wings have used their basic engine. Yamaha started using this engine in 1983, and I believe they used it up until 2021 in the Vmax. And I have never heard of any common part failures after 1986 when it became a 1300 cc. The early ventures, 1983, 1984, 1985 were 1200 cc.. they were actually the smoothest and fastest, and they had a Low failure rate of second gear. Yamaha had quite a few bikes that had bad second gears starting with 30 Yamaha three cylinder XS 750/850, even the FJ 1100 had a weak second gear design… that is actually the gear most likely to fail in most motorcycles. There is just so much torque behind that shift from 1st to 2nd, all those gears get wind up so fast, and then they get slammed to a slower speed in a millisecond, by shifting to second.at high rpms.. I made it a lifelong habit too short shift from 1st to 2nd on all my motorcycles. I don’t pour on the coal until after I’m already in second. One other little thing I like about the Venture’s. I don’t have $25,000 sitting there depreciating..

    complaining about being in a position where you need a longer leg, like, pulling out of a parking lot moving a little bit and stopping while your front wheel is in the street and your back wheel is still elevated in the parking lot, you need sometimes a four or 5 inch longer reach to get your foot on the ground if you are unfortunate enough to stop in that situation.. i dont have a short leg that I know of, it is just a figure of speech.. my dirt bikes with 12 inches of travel front and rear would often get me in a situation where I needed longer legs, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. When you have a seat that’s 36 inches tall due to the travel of the off-road, motocross bike suspension. My KLR 650 was a bit tall, so was my suzuki. V Strom, 1000.. my Honda NT700 feels taller, actually, it is taller due to the thicker padding in the great seat.. I have taught elevations, and when you go to put your leg down, it’s like putting your leg into a hole because you can’t reach the ground. That can happen on any motorcycle like, putting a motorcycle into the back of a pick up truck riding up a ramp.. I was not literally talking about a short leg. I was just remarking that I didn’t want to stop in a situation where i could not reach the ground…

    Here in Pennsylvania, we have the highest incidence of deer collisions with vehicles. I myself have had four deer collisions, to by car., two by motorcycle. 35 miles an hour commuting to work at 7 AM on my Honda Pacific coast, 70 miles an hour on my BMW K 1200 LT just after sunset. I did not go down either time, $5500 damage to my BMW, it cost me $1000 to fix my Pacific coast myself. I let the insurance Company fix the BMW. They don’t actually stand there waiting for you to make a move. They run into you. My wife has had three deer collisions. All of them ran into the side of her car, same with two of my sons, they each had deer run into them… these smaller machines are a lot of fun because they’re light, they rotate quickly, but it always sounds like you’re ringing their neck because you have to get through the gears to get your momentum up. That’s what it sounds like in this video but actually, I am not spraining the speed limit. I never catch up with any cars in the video. fun bike. I sold it just before it hit5k miles.. for winter, I wanted something with a little more faring protection and a bigger windshield, and some compact bags to carry the cold-weather gear. So I bought a Honda NT 700 V that I found for sale, a 2010 with 7500 miles on it garage kept. I have quite a few videos on my UA-cam channel documenting, the maintenance and the problems I had with the Honda because it had been sitting for eight years. But it’s all sorted now..

    The population of Pittsburgh is under 300,000. It is not a crowded place as you can tell by the traffic on the roads. There are over 2000 bridges in Allegheny County where Pittsburgh is located. It’s not a really big county, only 720 square miles.. almost 2% of the county is water because of the rivers.. an additional fact about Allegheny County/Pittsburgh, and its famous three Rivers is, there are more boats registered in Allegheny County, then in any other city in the United States that is not on the coast.. it’s nice to have a boat, but when you’re out on a large body of water, like the ocean, the water looks the same no matter where you go if you can’t see land. When you have a boat on a river, the scenery is constantly changing, and you’re not gonna be eaten by sharks or run into a jellyfish Or an alligator or a hippo in Pittsburghs rivers.. The Monongahela river is one of the few rivers in the world that flows north, the water comes up from West Virginia into Pennsylvania and ends at the point in Pittsburgh, making the very beginning of the Ohio river. The other river, the Allegheny river begins in northern Pennsylvania in Extreme western, New York and northern Pennsylvania mountains

Shortened up the gearing a little bit from 2.93 to 3.08 and re-flashed the ECU + velocity stacks. This little thing rips around town and makes commuting 32 miles a day a blast. It's fun going fast on a slow bike. Took her to a track day at Thunderhill West Track and I had more fun on the 400 than I did on my track bike. it’s July 2024. This machine had two problems with it. One was a completely clogged fuel filter, which is just about 1“ x 1“, it just looks like a piece of gauze, like a coffee filter. The second problem that these machines all had pretty much around the world to the point that Honda was going to do a worldwide recall. The spark plug caps. They are hard plastic like material and I suppose they develop voltage leak when they get old and cranky from being baked in that hot environment at the top of the engine. Electricity will take the shortest path to ground, and sometimes when you have bad spark, plug, wires, or caps, that is voltage that is not going to make its way all the way to the spark plug to jump the gap. The symptoms of a bad spark plug cap- it feels like someone turned the key off and right back on for a split second. Usually at low RPMs when you can feel it. I replaced my spark plug caps with OEM spark, plug caps, while I was in there, I coated the spark plug wires with dielectric grease from the coils all the way to the caps. And I installed a new set of NGK spark plugs while I was in there. so to summarize the issues I had with this machine. Spark plug caps, and the fuel filter was completely clogged with a sand like substance that formed in the gas tank. When the original owner told me he put stabilizer in the fuel. I have never used stabilizer in anything ever. After this experience, I will never try it myself. I have videos on UA-cam showing the debris that I got out of this gas tank. It looked like someone had put in a half a cup of cream of wheat cereal in the gas tank… I had to remove the fuel pump cassette from the bottom of the fuel tank and clean the debris from around the fuel filter, just to get out the filter. I have several videos on UA-cam, showing all of that crap that was smothering my fuel pick up at the fuel pump. I was fortunate that I could get my whole arm inside the gas tank to use a scotch bright pad to loosen all that dried substance that was left inside the fuel tank when I got all the fuel out. That white powder in the gas tank came off the inside of the fuel tank pretty easy with a scotch bright pad. I was able to stick my small camera in the gas cap to verify where the substance was and if I got it all out. I have that video on UA-cam also… now that I have a machine sorted out, it has not had one hiccup. It feels like a brand new motorcycle now, as well as looks like one. .. anyone looking for this motorcycle type or some other type of motorcycle, be patient. Over the decades, I have found that there are motorcycles that were bought on an impulse sitting in peoples garage. They have so little concerned about that motorcycle that they won’t even take the time to advertise it for sale. They are out there… you just have to keep your eyes and ears open. I have a habit of looking from the street in peoples garage when they have the door open on the garage. To see if there are any motorcycles in there sitting in the back buried under boxes. I have found quite a few motorcycles like that. A Honda 700 saber with the CBX style fairing and color matched saddlebags. A hawk GT Honda 650, a Kawasaki KDX 175. Practically brand new. A couple Yamaha XS 650 twins. Two Honda CB 400 F bikes. GL 1800 Goldwing with 13 K miles on it 16 years old. That one still has the original tires on it… two Yamaha RDs.. A Yamaha 920 virago.. I think that’s most of the bikes that I spotted just by keeping an eye peeled.. you can see a lot just by lookin.. so if you find a rat, that’s been re-painted and modified, don’t buy it, you will find what you’re looking for if you are patient. It may take years. but they are out there in stock condition.. as a matter of fact, this Honda nt700, I have never ever seen one of these machines on the road. Never. I did see one for sale at a nearby Yamaha shop about eight or 10 years ago. I took it for a ride, I thought about it, I went back a week later, to see if I could negotiate a price that I liked, but when I got there, the bike had already been sold, same color.. but other than that one, I have never seen one of these machines before. They are more rare than Ferraris around here.

    • @Jodyrides
      @Jodyrides Місяць тому

      there is a five circuit fuse, panel behind the plastic cover inside the right fairing just in front of the brake pedal... The fuse for the auxiliary power outlet is a five amp fuse in there. There are five circuits, and there is a spare fuse, mounted in there, The fuse for the heaters on the carburetors, the cruise control, the stereo, and the auxiliary power sockets are in there.. only use a five amp fuse if you find a blown fuse for the cigarette lighter socket. I believe there are a couple spare fuses under the left side cover below the seat fuse box also in that small fuse box. remember to buy spare fuses to replace the spare fuse if you use it.. I bought a fuse Assortment with 50 fuses in it on eBay for appx $10 free shipping .. they were all sizes from one amp all the way up to 40 amp and everything in between if you go to an auto parts store, you will spend five dollars just for a couple or maybe four fuses in the amp size you need.. There are two different styles of those plastic blade fuses these days in cars and bikes... my 2008 Venture has the larger ones in physical size. I suspect you would have the same larger physical size fuses and your 2012 Venture. .You have to make sure which physical size your fuses are ..If you find a blown fuse, take that fuse with you to the auto parts store so you get the same size and Amps.. Good luck

      I didn’t know anybody read these things. Thanks. I had that Yamaha venture royale, I had a 2002 royal star venture, and I have a 2008 royal star venture now The 1300 Yamaha venture Royals were the rocket ships. They turned in the 12 second quarter mile range when tested by the motorcycle magazines at the dragstrip. if you’re on board air suspension system is not working, replace the stock springs in the forks and the shocks spring with Progressive brand springs and you do not need air in the bike feels 50 pounds lighter I changed the springs on my 1986 which is the same pretty much from 1986 through 1991 in the spring department and in the engine, and it really transformed that bike. It made it feel alive instead of mushy. I put 138,000 miles on my 1986 royal star venture, the only thing that ever failed on. It was the front brake light switch mounted behind the brake lever. I didn’t know it was bad until someone in a car pulled up beside me at a red light, and told me I didn’t have any brake lights. That’s when I realized why my cruise control quit working that day… other than that, nothing ever went wrong with that machine. I keep trying to find better bikes, I went from that Venture to a BMW, I will never buy another BMW after that experience. I went right back to The 2002 royal star venture. It was a bit disappointing in the power department. It felt like it was about 20 hp lower than the 86 I had, but it did have a smoother flatter power delivery, which is fine for a touring machine. then I tried an 1800 Goldwing six-cylinder. Not as roomy, way too powerful. It had a hair trigger, it was a little scary, making tight left turns at slow speeds and trying to work the throttle and slip the clutch. The Goldwing was pretty much perfect, but it was boring., and it takes 2 to 5 times longer to do the same maintenance chores on the Goldwing that you do on the Venture. So I went back again to my third Venture which I currently have, I can’t find anything better that fits me and is easy to work on and is reliable. I think those royal star venture’s were the best looking also. I wish my royal star venture his head center stands

      I put a very good battery in my 1986 Yamaha venture royale. I had that motorcycle for 16 years, trouble free. I put an Odyssey number 680 battery in the venture.. those batteries are made with virgin lead.. My Venture used to turn over with it 2 brush starter. Slow with the battery was over two years old. It would always start, but you could tell the starter didn’t have enough ass behind it. I heard you can put a four brush starter from a Vmax in place of that Venture starter, I never did it, but I have heard you can do that, because the Vmax required a stronger starter. but I put an odyssey model 680 battery in my Venture, they are military grade batteries. You could Mount it in any position, they were totally sealed, you could let them sit for up to two years, and they would still have a charge enough to start the machine. I had that battery in my Venture for over 10 years. When I sold it that battery was in there.. BUT-- since the odyssey battery I installed, did not have wet cell battery caps that I could remove one of them and insert the factory monitor probe into one of the cells, I had that warning system, making that warning, light flash, and that LED on the display was displaying that the battery had an issue.. I learned on the Venture‘s website, I don’t know what the name of it was venture.org or something like that, but it was venture owner’s website that you could put a half watt- 2000 ohm resistor in line where that that probe it was connected to to insert the probe into the battery, eliminate the probe , Replace it with that resistor and hook that up to the 12 V source under The cover that looks like a gas tank where the battery is. There’s a terminal board under there that I put a Fork connector at the end of the electric wire with the 2000 ohm resistor… and that satisfied the warning, light and the LED display and made those warnings go out. I forgot to mention in this video that I put heat shrink over the soldered connections to protect the electrical system from shorting out against the wires on the resistor. Never had another issue with that warning, system flashing light or LED display again after I install that resistor. Plus, when I put that Odyssey 680 battery in my Venture, it always spun that motor with the electric starter motor faster than it ever did.. One thing about those odyssey batteries. They require a special charger that charges at a higher amp rate, but never more than 14.5 volts.. That is a must with those odyssey batteries I don’t understand the juggling of the amperage and the voltage control, but I ended up buying that odyssey battery charger also which I really didn’t need to buy because the battery came fully charged, and it never discharged to the point where I had to charge it. those Odyssey batteries are pricey. My son put the same model battery, Odyssey model 680 in his Acura RSX type S… he was doing modifications, and he needed extra room for something under the hood. Where the large standard lead acid battery was. And he put one of these Odyssey batteries in there, and it started his car for years. He bought the optional battery terminals that bolt to the Odyssey battery, and give it battery terminals that are the same size as regular car battery terminals… I’m getting to the point where I’m over explaining things again. But the point is, use heat shrink to protect the wires after you solder in a 2000 on resistor, and that will make the warning system on your Venture satisfied and those lights will go out.

    • @Jodyrides
      @Jodyrides Місяць тому

      I don’t know that it’s a vibration from some thing being out of balance. I think it may be I harmonic .. when rotating shafts or other bitch start resonating at the same pitch quite by coincidence.. they were having problems with helicopters, having catastrophic failures due to harmonic resonance. I don’t know how they can avoid that, but it is something to be taken into consideration. When the Honda V twin chain drive single-sided, swingarm hawk, GT was on the market here in the United States, one of the major motorcycle magazines was covering a guy road racing one of those machines. He was having catastrophic failures of his crankshaft that they were blaming on harmonics.. sort of like a mirror on a motorcycle that goes blurry at certain RPMs. The way to fix that is to add a stick on weight to the glass on that mirror to change the frequency. It responds to. That is a harmonic. I never heard that the anti-700 engine or the anti-600 engine suffers from harmonics. But I do remember the chain drive 650 back in the 90s had those crankshaft problems at maximum RPMs on the race track

    The problem with magnetic tank bags has always been that grit getting between the underside of the magnetic flap of the bag and painted surfaces on the bike such as gas tank, acts like sandpaper and sands off or mars the finish of the tank and nearby plastics. This is especially common during long trips, or in a rainstorm- where road grit gets kicked up. I have used tank bags on trips, but I clean their underside often. I used much larger ones and it was always a pain to the gas cap to gas up. Yes, I am also a fan of these bags but am very careful not to damage the bike's finish. The identical problems can happen with tied down tank bags, again on long trips or in rain. It's safer to use a watertight oversize yellow stuff sack in passenger spot and the panniers and trunk.

    Deer and bike are beautiful, you have the best colour option too iimho. My daily is a 2008 silver one.i have the hesitation issue too,very intermittent sometimes runs cleanly cleanly for days. I just replaced the ht caps but issue still there. Going to order new ht leads see if that completely sorts it. Mark (Dublin IRE)
