Balinese Dancers 1994
Shot over several evenings in the villages of Ubud and Peliatan, Bali, Indonesia. At the time (1994) I had a rather cumbersome SuperVHS-C Camcorder which struggled with low light and a rather slow autofocus. Despite this I managed to get some nice material. Concentrating mainly on the performers highly expressive faces, I tried to give a sense of being onstage with them. Enjoy!

The College Art department had a little Russian standard 8mm cine camera. This little slice of nostalgia is a mixture of two little reels I had scanned in HD a few years ago.It dates from 1975, but some of it is probably 1976 because the uniforms vanish. Made as a School Project way back in 1975. Shows the demolition of part of North Ormesby next to the old Derwent Street School or Youth Club as it was then. Once a few mates became involved it became some kind of 'Robin Hood' story. Not sure what that was now! Made a few segments with live sound which I've now synched in. The amazing laughter was provided by Chris W. who appears as the Burglar....
Doggy born n bred, catwoman god bless her, lost her baby & that sent her loopy, the young blond lad with the red n white bike helmet coming out of the house looked like Glenn Barcliffe. His parents where Jean & Don Barcliffe beautiful people, they nipped to my mams on market days for a natter & a cuppa. Takes me back 👏
Yes, that was Glenn. He really enjoyed doing a little acting . There's not much material simply because it was quite expensive to buy. The camara was borrowed too!😄
