Pretty sure the original book was not about a black family! If it was then fine. But everyone so tired of racial inserts that aren’t done for an actual narrative reason but for political and social virtue signaling! If you’re gonna do a movie with black main characters then make it all black, like it is in real life. There are black communities and white ones and Latino and Greek and Jewish. Yes you Can find Some mixing, can find some white families in a black hood. Or some black families in a white hood. And so on. But in general everyone has their own ethnic and culture groups. If you want to make a diverse movie then make it evenly diverse! Like one of each color being a main characters. Don’t just insert a race into the role of one that was originally intended for a different one! And if you must do so? Then change all of the characters races. Make everyone black white, and all whites black, make Asian into Latino, and Latinos into Asians! Then everyone can be represented and treated to the same changes! Equity at its finest!! Right!!??
