I completely understand. The winters can be long for sure. Thankfully, we enjoy the cold weather, but I know that may not last forever. Maybe a winter home in Florida will be in our future. Ha!

That's really great to hear about the oceanview! I'm excited to try out an oceanview room on our Wish cruise. I hadn't really thought about the heights on the verandah. What decks have you tried out verandahs? I like the mid-floors, 7/8. Maybe those are too bad?

@CWintheWC My first Disney cruise was in a room with a balcony on the upper decks somewhere above 4. I didn't like the hastle of the glass door and I had two kids 10 and 12 at the time and I was always worried about them being outside alone on the balcony. Since then I've done Oceanview rooms and I just prefer the layout of the room it just feels bigger and I enjoy sitting in the big chair in front of the window and watching when the ship is at sea!

That makes a ton of sense. In fact, my sister's kids are the reason we're doing oceanview on our Wish cruise because they will be cruising with us. I'm sure we'll love it. I'm glad to hear that it feels more spacious. Definitely looking forward to that.

I bought water shoes specifically for this trip, and I was soooo glad to have them! I love the mesh toiletry bag too. That's a great idea!

It was recommended for our shore excursion to have water shoes to interact with dolphins (you stand in the water on metal platforms) and we were also glad we had them. The mesh toiletry caddy was very handy for not only my husband and I, but for our tween daughter as well. It really helped keep our room so clean and organized. When our room Stewart would come in there was never anything on our counters, floors, or on our beds (except my unplugged curling iron), so it made his job so easy.

I wish I could live on a Disney cruise, or at least in Epcot, but sadly, we won't be back on board until January of next year. I (Whitney) do have a WDW trip planned for the fall. Can't wait!

I'm so glad this has been helpful for you. I learned so much watching vlogs before our cruise. It's great to see others experiences to try to plan what you need to bring or might like to do. In fact, we found out about the Pirate Museum in St. Thomas from other vloggers. I loved your comment about the magnetic hooks! We were the same way, I think it took basically everyone on UA-cam talking about them to full convince me, and man did we use them!

That’s great idea to go by steps. I didn’t even think about it. I guess I’m just so used to keeping up with miles. I’ll keep that tip in mind for future. I wondered about what it would be like in the afternoons or evenings. We saw some runners and walkers in the afternoons. I hadn’t thought about having to dodge people coming out of the doors, but I can see that being a bit treacherous, especially at night. I loved having the track all around the ship, so I’m a little worried about the newer ships. I would love to hear about your experience on the Wish. That trip is coming up really soon! With it being on different levels, I’m assuming it won’t be a great option for exercise, so I’ll just have to stick to the fitness center. I think trying to navigate the stairs would be too much for my knees and my clumsiness.

Also glad to know about the magic portholes only being on the Dream and Fantasy. I hadn't heard anything about the inside rooms on the newer ships. I'd be interested to know what makes the oceanview win over the verandah. We'll be in an oceanview for our Wish cruise next January.

@@CWintheWC We have found that we didn't use our verandah that much for the cost. We enjoyed our larger porthole, you still see out and see the ocean. We just sailed the Wish inside stateroom and there is a large picture of one of the princess above the bed. The bathroom has a nightlight switch. We enjoyed our stateroom choice on the Wish. You might want to get a European plug cube, to get more use out of your outlets. You need to watch UA-cam videos on the Wish, its alot different from the Fantasy, it was helpful to us.

We will definitely plan to watch vlogs on the Wish for sure. I've watched so many about the classic ships, and the Wish does sound very different. I had a feeling a verandah might be a waste for us as well. One day, when we have a chance to try one, hopefully it's nice weather, and we can see if we end up using it or not. We may find it's not worth it. I do think we'll enjoy having the oceanview, though. I'm looking forward to that.

I am very glad to hear that things may be different in better weather. Thankfully, we both tend to enjoy chillier weather, so it didn't dampen our spirits. However, it sounds like it probably had an impact on how people were dispersed on the ship, which makes a lot of sense. We are very excited to cruise again and experience a different perspective.

I am very sad to hear that. I thought I'd heard something about it not being a full loop on the Wish. That makes me nervous for the Treasure. I am so excited about the theming on Treasure, but a longer cruise without a running deck won't be ideal. I'm with you on the "mature" knees. Mine will not like running on stairs. I'm also a bit clumsy, so that wouldn't be very safe either. Ha!

That's amazing! I agree, I think Disney is a wonderful option for a first time cruisers. We are absolutely open to trying other lines, and that feels more approachable now that we've cruised at least once.

So fun! I'm sure you will have an amazing time. I would say there were areas that felt very crowded and other spaces that didn't. We just found ourselves migrating to areas that were quieter as needed.

Oh, okay. Yes, I bought those from Shop Disney 4 years ago when I got interested in Cruising right before COVID. I noticed they didn't have them anymore. I'm sorry about that.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I was searching high and low before our cruise to find out about running on the ship, and I didn't find much. I'm really glad to hear this was helpful. Also, I will be running the Shamrock Shuffle! This will be my first time participating in it, and I'm really excited.

Congratulations on 50 years! That is an incredible milestone. I love that the cast members went out of their way to make your trip special. I think the Fantasy will always hold a special place in our hearts since it was our very first ship.

Absolutely! We definitely have plans to provide content about food, specifically restaurants downtown. We have favorites, but I'm also hoping this will encourage us to branch out and try more.

That's amazing! I didn't know that about McCoy's or the Sleepy Traveler. It had been a long time since we'd flow into MCO. Prior to living in Chicago, we drove to Orlando more often than not, so we hadn't seen that installation before. I think we'll definitely try an earlier flight in the future. Our next cruise will have a WDW stay afterward, and we're super excited for that. We haven't been to the parks since before COVID, so a park visit is long overdue.
