I honestly subscribed for this video.I’m currently in nursing school,and I can relate to how you feel in a lot of ways.The biggest thing I had to learn in nursing school was the fact that I was going to have to teach myself. The ICU is where most want to go, if it’s what you want to do go for it. Many want it just to get into crna school.

Nursing school was by far the worst experience of my life. That being said I love being a RN. If I had to do it over I would’ve changed majors. The program is so stressful, it’s so sad seeing people fail out and seeing grown people cry because they want it to bad. Not to mention how competitive it is to get in. It’s like some type of an exclusive club, or so it feels like.

Girl I feel the same!! I’m in semester 2 and I’m like what the hell is going on here lol?!? Many of my classmates also seem to be frustrated with how we’re being taught but I’m just trying to learn what I can and get through it. I wanna go into the ICU too…thanks for your video!!

I know how you feel. I look at it this way. Nursing school is giving you a foundation to be able to learn on the job, which is where you will learn everything pertaining to your specific department anyway. Schools teach to pass the NCLEX because the exam is adaptive and a good indicator (well, maybe just the best we have) on whether or not you can be a competent nurse. Meaning if you can recognize when you need to call for help at the very minimum. Once you have experience that expectation changes. As for self study, I was frustrated in the beginning too but after speaking with some new nurses during my clinical rotations I realized that it’s a great tool to have when you encounter a patient with something you’ve never heard of before. It all has finally clicked for me now that I’m in my last semester 😂 I know it’s hard but it sounds like you’re doing great! Keep on pushing
