    I pictured a baseball game playing out, but then when the music shifts it's the "big kahuna" with sunglasses that calmly walks up to the plate to take their at bat. After the shift, it has so much personality, a "too cool for school" kinda feel. Sweet groove, looking forward to seeing where you go with it!

      I wish I was this dedicated to going to the gym I've learned a lot from the project already! I'm not sure if there is something that has had an impact on my life outside of content creation, but I've been writing down a list of the surprises I've had along the journey and I'll make a video at the end talking about those learnings :)

    It's overwhelming to think about how much I don't know when it comes to producing music, like when you're describing your custom settings on the sound plugins, it's like another language. How many hours do you think it would take to learn the "basics" of working in a DAW like logic?

    • @WavePunkMusic
      @WavePunkMusic 19 годин тому

      So honestly that duty envelope stuff with the 8bit magical plugin is super niche to that plugin and I think one tutorial video and some hands on experimenting, you'd understand it super easily. As far as learning the basics of a DAW, I don't think it would take that long to get to a place where you could lay down midi and enjoy exploring synth sounds, or record something and get to put effects on it. If you just pick a synth that appeals to you for any reason and just explore it in full, you'll be surprised how many little things you learn and retain each day.

  • @RizzoJamesbot

    If your producing "power level" was 9000 when you first started this project, where do you think it's at now?

    • @WavePunkMusic
      @WavePunkMusic 19 годин тому

      hmmm, honestly like 9100 maybe? I feel like there are still some large fundamental things I struggle with, especially because I can't seem to just settle in to one sound and get good at it. I'm always hopping around.

  • @RizzoJamesbot
    @RizzoJamesbot 9 днів тому

    Do you remember what you were sipping on?? The extra instrument reminds me of a duet of two singers. Also so many times listening to these tracks I think of Stardew Valley! Fits the vibe perfect for that game. And is "wooshies" a technical term!?

    • @WavePunkMusic
      @WavePunkMusic 9 днів тому

      just red gatorade hahaha XD I'm so glad it feels like a duet, that was exactly the vibe I was going for! funny story related to "wooshies" I one time in school heard a world class castrati refer to long sustained notes as "longy-holdies" and I have called them that ever since LOL

    • @RizzoJamesbot
      @RizzoJamesbot 9 днів тому

      @@WavePunkMusic I love that there's still room for this kinda language in something as old as music!

  • @RizzoJamesbot
    @RizzoJamesbot 9 днів тому

    This might be a super noob question, but is it a common practice for composers / producers to use the same melodies throughout the EP / album or is this something you just thought of? Personally I like the bitcrusher on master too!

    • @WavePunkMusic
      @WavePunkMusic 9 днів тому

      it's definitely not something I just thought of, but it's a very classical idea and not common practice for EDM. The place where it's most common these days is in soundtracks which is why I do it here since the EP sort of follows a story through the first 4 tracks :)

    Typically I prefer to use physical faders and map it to a CC parameter. But automating the gain for volume instead of the volume itself is an interesting way to get a more realistic feel. I like it!

    • @WavePunkMusic

      Ooh whats a CC parameter? I dont know about this!

    • @alexcrow3989
      @alexcrow3989 19 днів тому

      @@WavePunkMusic Im sure if you look at a youtube video they will explain it better. But for example, when you use the modulation wheel on your keyboard it sends midi information. This information particularly is read as CC1 When you use the pitch bend wheel on your keyboard it sends Midi CC 14. So CC1 is modulation Cc14 is pitch bend Im pretty sure There are 128 total CCs. So I map my fader to CC 11 to adjust the expression (some of the libraries I use utilize expression as dynamics aka volume) So this means I can adjust dynamics while im in the middle of playing so I can as realistic of a feel as possible. You can map a fader, knob, or button so you can adjust these CC automations within your daw. Or you manually adjust them. Im not an expert and im still learning, I recommend checking out Midi CC, im sure you will find a lot of fun use to manipulate the parameters you want to while producing. Super easy to learn once you look into it!

    • @WavePunkMusic
      @WavePunkMusic 22 дні тому

      Honestly, the BIGGEST lesson was to not be afraid in EDM to really carve the low end out of your harmonic and melodic synths. I makes the bass so much more punchy if it's the ONLY thing happening in that area, and surprisingly the melodies and synths still basically sound fine. I thought they would lose a lot of character, but they are fine. That and the better understanding I now have of loudness. Still a ton to learn, but I have a much better grasp no than the nothing I had before.

      yeah mainly for automation! I didn't want to have to keep scrolling up to make sure that THIS was the bar where the new section stops. Sometimes I have midi hang over for a bar or two so if I just go off where the midi stops the automation will be in the wrong place.

Super sick. I get the idea that making it two separate tracks would be nice, but I think keeping it in and changing the direction completely makes the track have so much character. A music related discord would be sick to discuss music production, theory, etc. but I know that might not be a great idea…

    I wonder how good someone would do on fiverr or something xD Could see how you do and compare it to the fiverr mixer. And what speakers do you have for your setup? And I wonder if there's a plugin or something that can cut those blank areas automatically.

    For the sidechain compressor, don't you have to link it to another channel or track? Doesn't it work so that when one channel is high it compresses the one that's linked to it?

    Did you record this at the college? I'm trying to recognize the background. Do you notice a difference using the in-ears vs the over the ear phones?? And who knew there was hidden treasure in the tambourine section xD

    LOL airport NPCs, I can relate! Sounds great with the fake drop too. The fact there is a sound that's not shown blows my mind, sometimes I hate software for crap like that.

      @@WavePunkMusic I had a feeling lol, that's awesome! I wish I had started earlier cuz it's getting painful clicking in so many notes. I'm gonna try to improve and stay consistent
