Bunch of people complaining about the lack of explication. 1. This is not a tutorial, idiots. 2. If you cant understand what he's doing, you're not ready to do this. He cuts the pattern pieces as one normally does, but instead of fusing the front panels, he sews on a canvas with a combination of fell and pad stitches. Prior to this, he baste stitches the canvas onto the shell with a loose stitch to hold it in place for the aforementioned fell and pad stitching. The lapel is held back as intended during the padstitching so that it remains in that position. Everything else is just different types of hems. I'm not saying this to denigrate this guys work, quite the opposite, it's very skill and labour intensive. I haven't even mentioned pattern drafting/modifying. But, if you can't work out what he's doing, you're not ready to make something like this in this way. Stick to fusibles and work on your fit and finish before moving to hand canvasing. Minimise your potential points of failure before doing something so difficult.

Where did you find all the fabrics from?

    • @varun009

Etsy has many great options. Look for "melton", "wool twill", and "tweed". Most fabrics are 1.5m wide. Try to get something that's at least 600g/m (400gsm). Depending on your local weather, you may need to get something heavier like 850g/m (565gsm). Try to get something with at least 10% nylon or polyester. They're much stronger.
