TGIF was simply entertainment for many in the 90s, but for me, it was THE highlight of my week. The memories of being huddled around my TV, eagerly watching these kids navigate family, friends, and romance, stuck with me all these years later.
My goal with this channel: pay homage to this source of childhood joy! The target I'm aiming for is: enjoyable, quality content that's researched and well-executed. Whether I hit that target is ultimately up to you! Thank you so much for watching!

The Death Chair - Boy Meets World
Переглядів 5742 роки тому
The death chair refers to the "third friend" cafeteria seat in season 1 of Boy Meets World. Oftentimes, whoever sat in this chair was cut from the show! This video explains its origins (including the term "death chair"!), with excerpts from interviews of former BMW actors!

10 Times TGIF Actors Appeared On Other TGIF Shows
Переглядів 13 тис.4 роки тому
Oh the days of TGIF! If you went to school Monday morning without knowing what happened on the latest episode of Family Matters, you were lost. Many of us noticed, even as children, that TGIF actors often appeared in small roles in other TGIF shows. Sometimes they appeared in character (e.g. Steve Urkel on Full House), and other times they appeared in unrelated roles (e.g. Candace Cameron on Bo...
Love my comment if talk want to go back home I’m tired y’all
The show was called “Dear John”, not Little John lol. I believe one big reason Rider Strong landed his role was because he hit a performance out the park in a guest spot on “Home Improvement”, another ABC show. I’m sure that impressed them big time and they took note
She’s the reason millions of boys watched the show.
"DEAR JOHN" WT🤬🙄
To me the series dropped when it turned from a coming of age comedy and turned into a teenage soap opera, and that one sad/dramatic melody became 90% of the soundtrack for each episode. They lost so much of the lightheartedness in college, it was disappointing.
Topanga was the only reason why I started watching Boy Meets World.
5:30 "Megan Parlen" That's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
ABC's TGIF block died beginning in 1997, stemming from a combination of aging sitcoms like Family Matters and Step by Step moving to CBS (who started - and ended - their own family-friendly Friday night sitcom line-up in 1997-98 called "The Block Party"), the over-saturation of supernatural/magic type shows (Sabrina the Teenage Witch and new series You Wish and Teen Angel, the latter of which both lasted only one season), the failure of Two of a Kind in the 1998-99 season (which was the last sitcom produced by the previously reliable Miller-Boyett group) starring the Olsen twins the following year, and ultimately the ending of Boy Meets World after seven seasons and Sabrina... moving to The WB after the 1999-2000 season. ABC would bring back the TGIF brand for the 2003-05 & 2018-19 seasons, but it never met the same success it had before.
Ugh. They look so good. My favorite white people. I don't care if any of them are racists behind closed doors. These are my favorite whites and Jews. Forever. The best looking cast ensemble of the 90s.
Straight up 🤡 comment
Meanwhile, Danielle is the reason the show became a hit. Crazy
I like a lot of those shows. I just didn't grow up on TV. I grew up on VHS and DVD.
The interstitials were special. Like USA Up All Night and Monstervision, in the vein of the monster movie host. I'd give anything to find them all and rebuild the Friday night blocks.
As a TGIF addict, and someone who loved BMW... I think this show was one of the weaker ones now after rewatching. Also, I've been watching Pod Meets World. Season 1 of boy is amazing, as is 2, 3 was strong. I think season 4 and 5 it starts some things I hate, especially the arc of Shawn. It is insanely redundant and pointless. They found idiotic ways to keep separating Cory and Topanga just to put them back together again. Shawn's over and over crying about how living in a trailer park is why he'll never succeed and why nobody loves him. It's almost the ultimate in Hollywood's hatred for middle America, aka flyover states. They just kept repeating this crap over and over. 0 growth. Also, as a Texan Waco was with us for DECADEA. The freaking Gaines' are probably why Waco has recovered. The Cody years of Step by Step are actually superior, and Family Mattera before Urkle took over was amazing.
Feeny was the voice of KITT!?!? Get completely out of here!!!!!
"Did I do that?"
I had a Mr Feeney.
or instead of being "wrong" or "ahead of it's time" it could be because she was in middle school to start and at the end she grew as a character into a college student. We all change over time and it worked? just a personal thought. I mean people get dramatically different over time and that age range especially.
The girl who played Angela in boy meets world also played the girl who got shot in family matters.
The biggest problem with the show is that they inexplicably squandered a lot of characters, like getting rid of Minkus and Mr. Turner with absolutely no explanation.
I loved “Step by Step”.
I wonder how Candace’s brother, Kirk, felt about his younger sister playing a witch.
10/10
But they made him way to dumb by the end
When ‘Mr. Fenny’, during the last episode, told them to “do good”, I started crying. Although I wasn’t in the demographic, I enjoyed watching the characters interacting with each other. I was in the 18 to 49 demographic when it aired.
William Daniels played a great ‘Mr. Feeny’!
The reason Boy Meets World worked, and is honestly rewatchable to this day is no one was perfect like other sitcoms. Everything wasn't too nice and tighty. And people identify with that.
I remember TGIF it was my childhood in 89 to 00 I miss it my kids will never get to see it
You forgot Mark Linn Baker as cousin Dick on Full House
Ben Savage was on the Judd Hirsch's sitcom DEAR John, not "Little John".
The choice to have Ben’s brother play the creep teacher was incredible. Not only because it’s such a “hey, you know your brother? Guess what!” when Ben comes to work one day. But also, picking someone who was a famous person in his own right and someone audiences had positive and trusting feelings for to play a character that’s meant to be positive and trusting and betrays that is a GUT PUNCH.
Didn't age well with accusations about him in the last year or so. None of which I'm saying are true. Just weird.
Back in the 90s who wasn't doing the erkel
So many shows that revolve around kids the show just kind of ages out but this show reinvented it's self for each faze of growing up. Ny the end it was a prototype for friends
Maybe I misunderstood, but it seemed like you said Harley Kiener was played "in a recurring role by a young Adam Scott." Danny McNaulty played the original Harley, and Adam played a "replacement" character to Harley as a character named "Griff."
Proud of her for being strong enough to take a punch and get back up
The Olsen twins on hanging with Mr Cooper
Well time travel crossover episode he meant mention of boy meets world was actually a full large crossover event with four different shows so therefore Salem actually crossed over on to other episodes besides his own
On meet world tv show crush the dad Michael Matthew's clever style my name is Heather
Can you please do all the Dan Schneider Nickelodeon shows
They created the TGIFVERSE
🔥🔥🔥 job by U as well my Fav sitcom
Mr Feeny was such a good teacher to all those who were watching, but it was Will Friedle who really stole that show, especially in latter seasons. I love both Meets World shows and I'm happy I got to find this gem.
Jason Marsden lives in Nashville
Excellent video! Please make more like this!
I got all of my life lessons from boy meets world
Mark Linn-Baker also appeared on Family Matters, Full House and Hangin With Mr. Cooper.
it sucked
I feel extremely privileged to have met both William Daniels and Will Freidel at two separate conventions last year who were both extremely awesome.
The 1st season was and still is the show at its best for me, where most of the characters do have character, and are used very well alongside being so universal over being teen angst rubish.
Michael Jacobs was an asshole! She was a kid!
This was an amazing analysis!!!! The only thing I wish was more included was the Alan and Amy relationship. How Amy went to college, Alan quit the super market and opened the outdoor store, and Joshua! Could we get a video on that soon??
