Dr. Peter K. Robertson, a Professor Emeritus in Geotechnical Engineering, has dedicated over 30 years to education, research, consulting, and practical work. His passion lies in advancing the field of Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) and liquefaction studies. To support this mission, he has created a comprehensive website that includes his technical papers, Robertson’s Remarks, and informal information about CPT.
Additionally, Dr. Robertson has been hosting a series of free online webinars over the past 15-years. These webinars delve into various aspects of CPT, ranging from basic introductions to in-depth analyses of liquefaction using CPT data. Each webinar lasts approximately an hour and is followed by a brief question-and-answer session. I encourage you to watch these educational sessions and share the knowledge with your colleagues to further enhance the field of geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering and the utilization of CPT data

Thanks for uploading! Very helpful!
fantastic you made these webinars public
Can i have the presentation of this webinar. Many thanks
Great
Watching in 2023, extremely useful series.
Well detailed information.
Which Cone penitration machine is best. We need it in india .please share the manufacturer of CPT.
Great. Thank you for sharing this
Thanks a lot Prof. Roberson. The lectures are the Great references for Civil and Geotechnical Engineers
Please suggest which cpt machine brand is good.
Extremely helpful
Great presentation....we are working on v3.3.1.14 and basic interface remains same. Really helpful for quick liquefaction assessment. CPTs are the present and the future (class apart if we use seismic CPT!)...
Thank you. I am grateful for everything I have learned from this Webinar.
Thank you. I am grateful for all that I have learned through these Webinars.
Hello Sir, thank you for a good video. I have question, how can find CPT data records. I need a deep CPT record. I appreciate if you can help me.
How to download this software permanently?
Great presentation.
qc and qt respect the formulation => qt = qc+(1-a)*u2?
I think ,yes. a=Cone Factor taken 0.8
I am trying to study for my PE exam. The CRR calculation based on Fr to find CPT but I have not found many good question examples or references for help. This is somewhat helpful. Hopefully they won’t ask about this but you never know. I am studying everything. Determination of CRR seems easier with known SPT data
what's the name of the publication by P.K. Robertson of 2020?
I found it free online
Note: 33-37 mins; adding in vane shear data to correct plot constant and U0 from added dissipation tests. 42-45mins start geotechnical layer analysis and statistics for soil parameters determination.
I have a project where a cpt was conducted on the existing ground. However there will be bulk fill on top of the site of approx 2m. This effectively increases the confining stress of the underlying soils. However Ksigma when calculated causes the FOS to decrease. This is illogical, obviously higher confing stress results in a higher resistance to liquefaction. Any ideas?
You need to add the fill and adjust how the CSR is calculated under the new total and effective stresses. The Ksigma factor has a minor role compared to the updated stresses
Really, Thank you for that webinar
You are an inspiration sir, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Presentations made by Prof. Robertson remain as the best references on CPT. Thanks.
These videos are really helpful for a graduate working in Geotechnical Engineering. Thank you very much for sharing knowledge.
thanks alot
these videos are so cool but the sound is lagging behind the video
I too found that annoying. You can open two tabs with this video: turn the volume off in the one you're going to watch and the other, which you'll use to listen, advance about 40s
Super interesting video. Quick question. The settlement calculated is for a site alone, no building over it. If there would be a building over it, settlement would be a lot greater?
Thanks a lot Dr Robertson. It was truly a great tutorial that I have ever had. I strongly recommend it to everyone that wants to have an in depth understanding on liquefaction modelling.
Thank you very much for sharing. I had a couple of questions, regarding the calibration of the CPTu data and the Nk parameter: What is the correct way to determine it? Any recommendations on the appropiate procedure? What should we be aware of, and take special care while performing the calibration?
Has anyone else noticed that the video seems to speed up from 33:57 to 48:20 making the audio mostly incomprehensible? It would be nice if this was fixed because this was an important segment of the presentation.
Yes the video is corrupted for that timeframe. A quick re-upload will fix it, but if the original file is corrupted, it cannot be fixed.
Just found out, the Moss Landing example is re-represented in Part 3 worked examples; the segment regarding the Turkish Clays, etc. is lost due to video corruption unfortunately.
Thanks a lot Dr Robertson
It is so helpful thanks Dr. Robertson
would be nice to have clarification on how the hydrostatic profile is determine using the dissipation test.
it seems that the dissipation of excess pore pressure must be allowed to fully dissipate to determine u0.
Thanks for uploading ..It is great benefit for students.
Thank you for sharing with us!
Thank you for sharing the knowledge.
i wish to express my thanks to you. Thanks a lot. Please keep this webinar availble till I am able to connect .Thanks
