Nice stove! Love these little powerhouses. Lots of power and great simmer control in all weather. A classic. While these are a bit more cold blooded than their single control brothers, they don't need preheat if you follow the instructions. Lots of pressure, flame adjust to high, lit match to burner, valve to light. As soon as it lights, add pressure. Anything else prolongs the process by not allowing enough air into the fuel air mixture at startup. Yes with the two control models, you'll probably see a couple of flares, but make sure the lighter/match is lit and ready BEFORE opening the valve. That said, a proper preheat will have you ready to cook as soon as it's lit. This was not that. Nor do I believe it was intended to be. More of a warmup to help it along. But it clearly lacked pressure. If the instructions don't work, there is something wrong with the stove. The more pressure you have, the less fuel, and more air, that gets delivered to the generator and the better atomized that fuel is to reduce flooding. Think of the instant lighting system like a can of spray paint. Which will give you the smallest droplet size, a can with 5psi in it or a can with 100psi in it? Obviously, Coleman knew this model was prone to flooding, though. They included the wick material in the mixing chamber for a reason. Like pulling off a band-aid or yanking a tooth, go full blast and get it over with as quickly and painlessly as possible. I have nothing against preheating. However, most folks do so unnecessarily and don't follow the lighting instructions as written. Failure to follow the lighting instructions has scared off more potentially happy white gas users to propane than anything else in stove history. Not following the instructions is why Coleman only makes a couple of liquid fueled stoves today where they used to have dozens of models to choose from. RTFM
Sorry, didn’t understand the detail. The test was successful, did the copper wire replacement shrink? Did it catch any residue? Was the fuel usage normal.
Not wise to get in the habit of using the cleaning needle as a shutoff. It's a good way to flood the vaporizer and possibly, though not likely, burst it if you close both the main valve and shut off with the needle. No where for the expanding fuel to go. Nice stoves that will last many lifetimes.
ANOTHER FIFTEEN MINUTE VIDEO THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 6 MINUTES LONG AT BEST. Good content and process but way too long. I advanced through it and got the concept. Watching a process TEN times is totally unnecessary repetition. Especially "miking" each finished piece. Were not building a CLOCK here. And, Thank-you, no. I have never posted a YT video. So, I don't know to post. But, I think l know when a video is too long. This comment was not ment to be confrontational and I hope you did not take that way. And, a lot of the video close ups were out of frame. Again, constructive criticism.
Thank you for your suggestions. This is just a sharing channel and not a professional YT channel. I think some people may still need it, but I will still listen to your suggestions...Thank you
With mine Attach soaked in meths preheat, make sure pump is loose ( no pressure in tank), light, just as preheating unit starts to run out, crack valve, screw up pump, about 10 pumps it will start to light, once it has done a couple of splutters, pump till pressure indicator rises, adjust control as required for light output. Total lighting time, about 3 to 5 mins depending on ambient temp Yours needs new pump washers
Might be a subjective question but what's a fair price for this exact lantern? A lady locally is selling one but she wants $200 for it! Just seems kinda high right?
