      As a child, i plsyed the SNES every day! It was my favorite system. It's hard to pick a favorite, but if I to, I would narrow my list down to: Super Mario World, Rock and Roll Racing, Mortal Kombat 2, Turtles in Time, Link to the Past,and my all best/favorite- DONKEY KONG COUNTRY 2.

    The game Sea Battle was my favorite game, I was World Champion of it and retired undefeated. If I still had my Intellivision and anyone wanted to try their luck, I'd still whoop that ass, lol. My 2nd favorite was Biplanes on Triple Action, awesome game. Between Sea Battle, Biplanes, and Night Stalker, I completely wore out that game console, actually the controllers, since IMO they were the bad part of the system.

    My first console experience and golden ace warrior I know I seen that game somewhere else... Can't put my finger on it. I'd be the weird kid while all the kids are talking about Zelda I'd be asking if anyone played golden a e warrior. And probably be looked at like a complete dip shit. Golden ace warrior wtf is that? We play Zelda here. Ironically and this is true in the 90s less than a handful of kids I knew maybe like 2 even knew sms existed they all only knew Genesis but I believe it was where I lived out in the Styx which is why it was unheard of here

      That’s not actually the only one and at the time, some experts/maagzines began to question if the intv was superior - and just how superior. The activation, imaging, and newer Atari games raised the Atari bar quite a bit. The 2600’s biggest advantage was the color palette. Of course it all was moot once colecovision and the 5200 were released.

    We were an Atari family...I have all thier systems and some of their computers....however....as an older collector I finally picked up an Intellivision about 5 years ago....im impressed. It is a very good system. Any kid getting one back in the day would have been happy. Few stinkers on the system. Most popular games made it to it....including a wayyyy superior Pac man. I love buying new homebrew for it though they are pricey AF.

    Intellivision is a classic video game console that was first released in 1979. It was developed by Mattel Electronics and was one of the first home gaming systems to use a microprocessor. The console featured a variety of games, including sports, action, and arcade-style titles, and could be played with one or two players. One of the standout features of the Intellivision was its controller, which included a numeric keypad, directional pad, and several action buttons. This allowed for more complex game play and greater control over in-game actions. The console was also notable for its graphics and sound capabilities, which were advanced for the time. It was particularly successful in the early 1980s, but faced increasing competition from other home gaming systems and was eventually discontinued in 1990. Despite this, the Intellivision remains a beloved piece of gaming history and has a dedicated community of fans and collectors.

    I still found it amezing why the nes was so successful for the following reasons, 1,the nes was not the first 3th gen console,the sega SG1000 did come along aside with it, 2,there were other competitors with their own 3th gen game consoles like the atari 7800 and the sega mastersystem etc,,, 3,while supermariobros were also responsible for the success of the nes,BUT supermariobros was not the first side scrolling platformer,that belongs to pac land and zelda was not the first rpg adventure game,that belongs to hydlide, 4,also both sega & atari did eventually had their own mascots with their own platform games for their systems such as alex kidd and scrappyard dog etc,,, 5,the nes was not the first console to be called an entertainment system,that may belongs to the atari 5200, 6,the nes was not the the first console with a frontloading zif systems,that belongs to the astrocadia game console and there was also the channel f console with a frontloading system albeit non zif system, 7,the nes was not the most advanced system,not all the way because the intelevision had a 16bit cpu while both the atari 2600 and the 5200 had a 128 colorpallet, 8,many nintendo games were also on other systems like the atari 2600 and 5200,the colecovision and even on the 3th gen atari 7800 among other systems etc,,, 9,the nes was not per se cheaper then it’s competitors,some competitors did sold their console for a slightly lower prince, 10,the nes was not compatible with other games while both the sega mark 3 and the atari 7800 were compatible with their previous generation games, 11,the nes was not the first system with a D pad and the D pad wasn’t even invented by nintendo itself ,that belongs to the tiger electronic’s playmaker handheld, 12,the nes was not the first console to resamble another electronic device such as a vcr deck no,that belongs to the astrocadia wich more resambles a frontloading cassette tape player. 13,while sega and atari had created their own sports games for their 8bit systems such as succor,f1 racing and tennis etc,,, but so did nintendo for their nes as well. 14,the nes is not the first console to use mappers or expansion addons,the atari 2600 used mappers along with extra ram to expand the capabilities of their system and there was also the super charger addon for the atari 2600,while the japanese nes the famicom had a disk system. 15,the nes is not the first system with a lockout system,that belongs to the atari 7800 because that system was sneakingly already released in late 1984 but fully rereleased in 1986. 16,,while mario was all the rage and so nintendo did advertised the nes system alot with mario as the forefront character but so did atari too,with posters or they put screen shots of mario games on the pakage of their game consoles, 17,the nes was not the only console with a lightgun with games such as duck hunt,because atari did it too atari 7800 with games such as bug hunt and they had also qwak in the arcades back in 1976 and sega came up with their lightgun among it’s games for it as well so you may wonder if duckhunt was really something original or something inspirated from atari’s qwak? Some goes for nintendo’s excitebike,was that game not also sneakingly inspirated from atari’s stunt cycle from 1976? 18.there were also many game consoles released in japan before,alongside or a few month’s released after the japanese nes such as the atari 2600,the cassettevision 1 & 2 etc,,, Same in the us,so it was not that the famicom or nes was the only choise. 19,the us nes might be the first with composite out but the supercassette vision had rgb out for french territory, Etc,,, And these are the reasons why i am sooo amezed that the famicom/nes became a huge success, The nes might come with a robot called ROB the robot to trick retailers that the nes is just a special toy,But that robot eventually became obsolete after other games took over. Also sega did had already an idea about a robot back in 1982 were you can play games on it but it was cancled, But putting it in such perspective,it becomes hard to imagine why the nes did became a huge success.

    Even thought the Intellivision was far more advanced that the Atari 2600 and they both launched at the same time , Atari sold 30 million 2600 units while Intellivision only sold 3 million. The reason ??? Atari was a pick up and play system while the Intellivision was more complex to learn , people back then (myself included) had no understanding about video games and there was only pinball machines around in front of store lobby's and arcades in the mid 70's More than likely Atari could have easily sold 70 million units (maybe even up to 90 million) of the 2600 if they hadn't come out with the 5200/7200 as consumers were thrown off by Atari's new launch of another system and even quicker launch of the 7200 dooming thier console line, most of their best games for the 5200/7200 were just reskinned 2600 games with just a bit better graphics and playstyle but people had to pay a lot for a single cartridge back then 20 to 50 dollars when min wage was around 4 bucks.

    • @datacipher
      @datacipher 6 місяців тому

      Absolutely none of this is true. First they weren’t released at the same time giving the 2600 a huge advantage. Second, some intv games being “complex” was Not an issue - maybe for you, you’re obviously a simpleton, but people craved more complex games and in fact intv’s most successful system sellers were the more complex games like football. People were also playing increasingly complex arcade and computer games by the early 80s. The real failure of intellivision was due to the atrocious controllers, and the lack of the arcade hits Atari had. The rise of activation/imaging and newer Atari games with improved graphics also rendered intv’s superior graphic marketing less effective. Of course the release of Cv and 5200 ended any hope at all intv which was doomed to never sell another unit the day colecovision was released - for obvious reason. The release of colecovision- as well as the improvement in arcades. And lower cost of computers was the reason Atari could never have just sat on the 2600 as you claim lol! In fact bushnell had planned to upgrade by 1980/81 - needed in such a fast paced industry. The Atari 8 bits were originally envisioned as 2600 successors. Finally the 5200 and 7800 games were far more than “reskinned”. Yes it’s true that they rehashed many arcade hits, but the music/sound, AND gameplay were all heavily improved as well as graphics. 5200 defender for example is like 2600 defender in name only. Many other things you said were wrong - but I’ll stop here.

    I found out, late in the 8-bit era, Nintendo was supposed to released a handheld portable version of the NES, entitled, The Express, from BDL Enterprises, a Nintendo 3rd-party accessory licensee of the Turbo Blaster for the NES. It measured 6 inches wide, about 10 inches long, and 2 inches deep. It featured a 4 inch backit color screen, built-in speakers, a headphone jack with simulated stereo sound. It was reportedly slightly bigger than the original Game Boy with a large backlit green screen. The version of the system had ports for any NES controllers and accessories, the NES controllers, the NES Dog Bone controller, the Power Pad, the Four Score, Roll & Rocker, the Power Glove, NES Max, NES Satellite, U-Force, Mega Controller, Hyper Variable Super Controller, Remote Controller, Double Player, the Joycard Sanusu SSS, the Hands Free Controller, Suncom’s Mothership, The Dominator Master Wireless Controller, The Hot Seat, the Turbo Blaster, Competition Pro, Flight Grip 2 Controller, OS-125 Joypad, Trackball, Speedking Turbo Touch 360, Innovation Joypad, The Game Handler, The Super Chair, GameSounds Receiver, The Triton Pad, or joysticks, like the NES Advantage, Hyperstick, Ultimate Superstick, Zinger, Zipper, Zommer, Gizmo Joystick, Quick Shot’s Joystick, Maverick 2 Joystick, Phyton 2 Deluxe. The second version later added a built-in controller. All NES cartridges loaded into the back of the system. The Express ran on 4 c batteries. BDL Enterprises claimed that the system could get 30 to 40 hours of battery life, although, this never confirmed. BDL Enterprises also claimed the console would have supported every entire NES game on the market, minus the Zapper gun (Duck Hunt, Hogan’s Alley, Wild Gunman, etc.) and R.O.B. games (Gyromite and Stack-Up). Sadly, this device was never shown at trade shows and ultimately never came out. It was meant to deliver solid on the do using all existing library of NES-compatible game pak cartridges. It was planned to come out in around 1990 in North America, a year before the launch of the Super NES. It was supposed to be the successor to the Game Boy.
