Thanks for visiting my channel! I have 3 main purposes for this channel:
1. To use as an "audition tape" for prospective gigs so people can see what I would play at their venue;
2. As a reminder of how I play certain songs, especially at church, so that if I haven't played a song in a while, I can easily review my customizations of the guitar parts; and,
3. To highlight and demo gear that I use that I'm either excited about, or where I struggled to figure something out and want to share the answer with other people who use the same equipment.

Headrush FRFR-Go Test as a Bluetooth Speaker
Shout out to a couple of channels that I like, @AskZac and @ThePaddedPedalroom. I listened to several videos from both channels as I went about my day.
I got this for Christmas and decided to test the battery life as a portable Bluetooth speaker. It is advertised to have 8 hours of battery life and I used it for 7.5 hours and it did great. The bass and treble knobs affect the tone, so they don't just affect the guitar tone, but all audio playing from the speaker.
The FRFR-Go is great in my practice room with my Headrush Prime, but if I want to move it about the house to listen to music, it works well for that and will last all day.

2024-08-11 Low end is a little thick still on this rig. I'm going to tweak out some bass in the future. 2024-08-04 But I left it in there. It's live music. Sometimes you just make a big loud "oops" in a song. But I don't really care. I'm not the world's greatest guitarist and every week I'm playing different songs. Sometimes I'm 1st guitar, sometimes 2nd guitar, and sometimes I'm the only guitar. And the members of the band are different each week, each with their own feel and queues. It is what ...

Hey! thanks for the vid! Would an explorer fit in either of them (longshot)? dimensions - total max length 109/110cm, 41cm wide from extremes, and measurement from horn to horn is 70cm.
Great demo, learned a lot!
Main problem with Gator is the low placement of the backpack straps, so the guitar neck sticks up higher than your head, and will catch on door frames when worn as a backpack. For those who travel, that's a huge annoyance every time you get in or out of airplanes, trains, busses and such. The Mono has a much better placement of the shoulder straps and will have less of a problem with this. Mono generally just a better designed bag, and better quality. Also the Mono 5 year full warranty is real. I got one of mine replaced at no cost after it sustained damage after 4 years of heavy use.
Does the gator fit a Firebird guitar?
Thanks for watching! Good question. I don't have that body style. Measure yours and I'll measure my bag and post here.

Thanks for listening. More to come and next week I start using my Headrush Prime!
Really informative video, that looks like a really cool speaker, sounds pretty good too, I may have to check it out. 👍
You should! It sounds great with the Prime, doesn't overwhelm my practice room like the 12" speaker on my Katana does, and doubles as a great way to crank some tunes while chilling on the back porch. Cheers!
Beautifully done Jeff. Please pass along my heartfelt appreciation to all those who performed on this 🙏 It uplifted my spirit and reminded me, yet again, of the most important things. Your singer especially caught the mood and meaning so very well, I was completely swept up. Lovely guitar tones too 😄
Thanks for listening! I also just posted the video on the Headrush FRFR-Go and y'all get a couple of quick cameos. Hope you don't mind. Cheers!
Wonderful worship, perfect HeadRush tone, I have a Mx5 but it doesn't compare to yours here in Brazil it comes with a very high price I bought the mx5 in a promotion, I dream of reaching Headrush Prime but it is still very difficult here and very expensive!! Congratulations to the team.
Thanks, it's nice to hear you enjoy the mix! Those tones are the Original Headrush Pedalboard. I just bought a Prime a couple of weeks ago, but have not used it live yet. I need to upload that rig to the Headrush Cloud. I'll make myself a note to do that here in a little while.
Thanks for the detailed review!
You're welcome! Thanks for viewing. Are you planning to buy one? Do you have any questions that I didn't answer?
@@guitar-21 Yes, I'm definitely going to buy one. It will be perfect for my 335 and Strat. 😀
Let me know what you think. I'm considering getting the Tick, but I just don't know if it's really worth it. Cheers.
I have a bass guitar and have searched for the best bag. I ended up buying the Gator bag for bass because I like the pockets of it. I can carry everything I need in just that one bag, which is also very comfortable to carry and the zippers run smoothly.
Good choice. Gator pockets are the best.
Great explanation on how dial in an ambient effect! Cheers
Thanks! I hope to start making some of the 5-minute deep dive vidoes again soon. What style of music do you typically play?
Cool, I'm following so I'll look forward to it. I play acoustic blues, country and folk type stuff. I ended up getting a Spark 2 just for jammin at home and am just learning how to dial stuff in. Happy new year! Cheers
@@ingmar74 great choice with the Spark 2! I've heard good things about them. The looper and drum machine are wonderful practice tools.
I agree the Gator seems so much better. But the semi hollow is a must for me. I almost wonder if Gator acoustic and electric is the way to go. I "think" Gator actually sells their pads separately too.
I measured the acoustic bag verses my semi-hollow guitars and felt like the acoustic bag would be too deep. However, you idea about getting additional pads is a great idea that I had not thought of.
Ey brother God bless you how are you
Thanks and same to you!

Great to hear your guitar as such an integral part of your worship team! You really cut through the mix. Do you play each week, and is it the same line up of musicians? I am in the UK and we work it on a rota basis so I get to play with a different team probably every couple of weeks. Warwick
Howdy from Texas, Warwick! That is actually my own mix. We live stream services and sometimes you can hear me and other times you can't. It always varies. So this is my direct live recording of my guitar through my HeadRush, which I then mix in with the video after the fact. This is basically equivalent to my in-ear mix. I do this so I can hear my tones because I'm always tweaking them. But also as a reference for next time we play the song. Sometimes I forget, lol. I'm on a rotation at 2 churches. My home Church 2x and a friends church 2x. I also play most Sundays for my home Church youth, but we don't record those services. What church do you attend?
Hi, I have just got the new Greenback correction IR pack from Sonic DNA, it certainly helps with the booming from the HR 108 FRFR. May be worth you checking it out, only a few dollars but for greenbacks only at the moment. Enjoyed your playing, from here in UK. Warwick
Thanks! I will definitely check that out.
Hi, I think I was a bit quick on this, because what I am hearing from the FRFR is corrected, but my FOH is taken at church from the output of the FRFR into the PA. So I don’t know what the sound corrected for MY speaker (with its flaws) sounds like through the church PA which will have different speakers????
@@warwickgb I understand what you mean. That is one of the reasons I record USB direct from my HeadRush, so that I can hear my tone before FOH does their EQ work on it. The tones I got yesterday at church for way closer to the front of house mix that I hear in my ears. Last week I had a pretty good sound the Tone Factor Blue 545-3 Enhanced IR. This week I used an EQ pedal at the beginning of the Headrush rig. I was able to get rid of some of the lows from the guitar before they sent the amp crazy. I also dial back a little 1k & 2k to tone down the harshness. I'm going to try to get those videos done this week plus the last couple of weeks worth of Sundays.
It's so special to know that in the churchs around the world are great singers and mucicians but to glorify Jesús. ✝️🇺🇸🇨🇴🌐🎛️🎹🎸🎤
Andy Randi is one of the best!
Sigh, thanks. I like seeing where it can be used okay. But I don't understand the modulation-like artifacts... is it processing power? Now I don't have to try to get this guy to tell me why I should get real octaver or drop-tune because they are not good features of the gigboard (which seems mainly for modeling rigs like heads and cabinets). I got one as a gift and have even used it for wooden flute, but I want to use it for making relatively unique music with banjo. I am getting one with real magnetic pickups like a guitar for the gigboard and effects etc... I've used it a bit with acoustic and piezos and, lol, it does work if you stick to headphones. But I really want to emulate a long-neck banjo with three more frets on it sometimes, so I better get a dedicated pedal.
A dedicated pedal would probably be the way to go for that. Cheers.
Headrush Octaver 😢 ..... Pog🎉
Yes, it's not for everyone. And it's not exactly trying to replicate a POG. I'm just using it to get "POG-like" sounds.
Can you show your patch? What amp / ir or stock cab etc you are using. It sounds real nice clean
Sorry I never posted the rig, but will be doing so soon on some of the new permutations of rigs I'm using on the original Headrush Pedalboard.
Are you from Houston? You mentioned the astrodome… just wondering!
Yep, born and raised.
@@guitar-21 I'm a Houston native, myself! What side of town do you call home?
Somehow didn't see this follow up...born in the south but now I live in the north. What about yourself?
Ir?
For that one I used the Vintage 30 2x12 (Open Back) pack that I bought directly from Celestion Plus. The pack was only $12 and are the speakers and cabinet used in a physical Orange AD30TC. I use the 121+57 balanced mic setting with a low cut of 72. No other changes to the IR. Hope that helps!
Thank you for these videos, they are great. Although I am from the UK, I don’t think I have ever tried an Orange amp, (always Fenders and then a small Boogie 22),so very interesting especially on the tone controls. I just play at church now but have been using this amp on my MX5 as both clean and EOB. Keep the videos coming.
Glad you like them! Thanks for the comments. Funny how we sometimes miss what's right there with us, huh? Orange amps are great and the Headrush model is excellent. I too play primarily at church, though I'm taking some time off right now.
I cannot get my ambiverb to work right. It doesn’t give me a sound at all unless I have it at the beginning of my chain.
That's interesting. I always put mine near the end of my chain. Tell me what each setting on the ambiverb is set to and I'll try to help.
@@guitar-21 i just tried it without my compressor on as normal and that seems to be making a difference. If I turn the level of the compressor down that is allowing it to work better also. If I put it at the beginning of the chain I don’t have to turn the compressor down as much.
I wonder why they didn't put an modulation speed parameter. Did you find a good use for the reso delay? I kinda couldn't figure it out.
I haven't really messed with that delay yet, but I'm about to start a few videos on reverbs and delay, especially how I use them for church and ambient music. Stay tuned!
Great videos, Sir. First headrush vids I see allowing the effects to be heard, giving listeners the sense of what the effects actually do. Brilliant! Can you please do a video dedicated to the reverb algorithms/presets that work for lush/ambient/church tones?. Would be much appreciated. Best.
Thanks, will do! I'm posting today the second half of the Orange AD30 deep dive and then I'll more reverbs. Cheers!
Wow. That’s really unexpected. I never realized that might be happening. That means even when you create your own preset for a block it’ll matter which preset you based it off of. Thanks!
Exactly! Which is not what I assumed, but once I started another video to show another feature, I discovered it. Sometimes you learn more about something when you try to explain it to someone else. Cheers!
It isn't the preset that is making the difference, it's the model... directly under the preset. How are you guys not seeing this?
Like number 11 from me. Sounded really good. Best wishes from the UK 👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊😊🎶🎶🎶🎶
Thanks for listening. I'm posting the deep dive on Channel 2 of this amp right now. Cheers!
I have quite a few presets/rigs based on the Orange AD30 model. It's a good one.
Do you find yourself leaning towards channel one or Channel 2 more? Or do you notice much of a difference? To me I tend towards Channel One, but I'm also playing in church primarily where I don't need quite so much drive.
@@guitar-21 I too tend to use ch. one a bit more. It's a nice round and clear tone. If some drive is needed there are plenty of pedals to put in front of it. I tend to play in a Chris Buck sort of style, pick and fingers with a semi clean tone, but kicking in a bit of chaos with some grind too. For what it's worth I do find myself using (on some rigs) two compressors to get the edge and feel I need.
@@davidwoods358 I always like to hear what other people do. With your compressors, which ones do you use? Do you run one into the next or anything separating them? What are the settings of each? Cheers.
@@guitar-21 I've been using the Dyn3comp (Attacks) and (Hammer) almost exclusively as they seems to have the most parameters to adjust. I do separate them, one in the beginning of the chain after any fuzz but before any drives and one just before the amp. I always have to experiment with where they are placed for the preset to sound and feel best. As you know ... everything matters, the amps, the cabs, the mic/mics. It's a never ending journey to create the perfect patch. Thresh -16.6db attack 28.04ms gain 2.0db, ratio 3.2:1 release 22ms knee 25.6db. (This is just a reference as they are all tailored to each patch.) If you turn the release all the way off you get a more clear low end. The higher the knee, the more high end snap you get out of the string. Gain is adjusted as to how much dirt or grind you want in the signal.
@@davidwoods358 thanks for the tips. I've not used the dyn comp and just stuck with the (more simplistic) Ross compressor model. I'll have to try it out. Cheers!
Did you manage to decipher what the reso delay is?
Not yet, but I'll work on that soon. I just published a vidoe on the Octaves Up pedal in Headrush.
Really good lessons . Best Headrush lessons. Do you do other effects. Chorus Flanger etc etc?
Thank you! I just released one on the Octaves Up. More to come.
