At 39:25 the speaker mentions a whole ton of incorrect information about the applicability of the tax credit for solar, geothermal, and battery purchases made in 2022. As an initial matter, the date of purchase is irrelevant because what actually matters (generally) is when the original installation is completed. Source: 26 USC Section 25D(e)(8)(A). The 30% tax credit for solar and geothermal applies retroactively to all solar installations completed in 2022, not just in the last quarter because section 13302(a) and (d)(1) of P.L. 117-169, codified as 26 USC Section 25D, says so. However, the tax credit for standalone batteries 3 kWh and larger does NOT apply retroactively to any of those standalone batteries installed during 2022 because of the language of 13302(b) and (d)(2) of P.L. 117-169. That all being said, batteries of any size installed at any time during 2022 that are 100% charged by solar DO retroactively qualify for the 30% tax credit because of IRS Private Letter Ruling 201809003 says that those batteries are a “qualified solar electric property expenditure.” Summarizing: 2022-2032 installations of solar, geothermal, or batteries 100% charged by the sun: 30% tax credit 2022 installations of standalone batteries: 0% tax credit 2023-2032 installations of standalone batteries: 30% tax credit

1:29:10 Installing energy storage systems with large commercial customers can help simulate the desired demand response effects where it would be impractical for the customer to change their processes. I would suggest starting a pilot program on this sort of installation. It could even be combined with solar installations with these commercial customers. Potentially this could be expanded to the residential sector as well over time.

Whatever happened to those commercials that aired like 15 years ago and it had the firefly but his body was a light bulb and he talked about the importance of frayed wires, loose cords, too much cords in one outlet, and while also looking out for electrical signs. I think I know what the songs were they were “you gotta be cool with cords” and “obey what the signs say.” Please bring those back.
