Man, seeing that bent up trim was heart breaking. I can just imagine how pissed you were!
VERY pissed! Don't deal with Steve Clair Young restorations. He was very flippant with me and others.
😎👍
The entire Mopar World feels your pain and knows you've been gouged enough already. You definitely needed a Win! Congrats on finding Bill and finally getting great customer service! 👍 P.S. The Good and Bad should be called out for their actions. It's a Public Service. 😁
Thanks Leanna!
Another great video Darren. The car is really coming together quickly. Thank you.
Should have used a newer spool mount K member as not only is the engine easier to install but the mounts are way stronger.
Agree 100% but customer didn’t want to stray that far from stock. You are right though about the spool mounted K members. I’ve also noticed how much better they seem to drive, especially in the B body spool K members vs the older K member designs.
@@blakesmusclecar Thanks
Hi Blake what shirt you wearing? I seen alot of 70 dart motor mounts cheap on ebay 35.00 for 340 and 440 the highest was 80 why sooo mutch from norms?
I guess I didn’t see any for 340/360 but plenty of 318 brackets.
👍👍👍
I can’t find part 1
Unfortunately I forgot that I had that part posted on my Facebook page called Musclecar Repair Service. I’ll see if I can find the link.
Hemi's are very impressive but historically have been somewhat hard to live with. My '68 R/T 4-gear car is a bone stock 375-horse 440 4-barrel and it has been easy to own and drive for almost 30-years now. Consider your use of a car and then decide what you are trying to do.
I think that is a spot on observation. I feel very similar with my Wedge and how it has really been turnkey, even with a solid roller cam. Easy to maintain and great manners.
Do you have an instagram I have some questions I would like to ask. I myself am building a 69 Charger right now. And was looking at building to about the same power level as what you talked about in this video.
Hi there. Yes I do but I don’t post much of anything there. I have a Facebook page called Musclecar Repair Service. Lots of stuff there as well. You can also call me if you have any questions at 972-921-1470.
I’m a wedge lover, but I’ve never had a Hemi. I know a Hemi man if anyone needs one! 😂
I agree with you Joe. I've watched your friend @Rick Seeman build some awesome Hemi's!
I Machine/Assemble and Dyno plenty of Hemi's for others....right up to 1,000 hp N/A . But for my own I stay Wedge, and even weirder I stay std stroke, entry level Ported Stealth Heads and run around 510hp/525 Trq 91 Octane with the hp Manifolds/Flat Tappet Cam(no problems) Very simply because of costs, ease of maintenance, and because I DRIVE the thing anywhere I want, whenever I want and have NO issues whatsoever. From cooling to street manners at stoplights/exhaust and on and on..... I find the Wedge is plenty for 'enjoying' my factory original X9 Black 1969 Charger R/T SE(numbers original unrebuilt engine is crated to the side) I've even sat in bumper to bumper traffic at 100*f down in Vegas.... no issues, good Car !
That is so well said!! Perfect example you have right there.
Great story on your journey to decide which engine was better for your Charger. I don't have a B or E body, but I do have a stock 440 waiting for that day.
Thank you! You just can’t ever go wrong with a 440. Simple easy power!
Once again, I appreciate your commitment to the build and I am super stoked to hear it for the first time. I love the sound of a Pontiac V8! I still remember the idle sound of my stock 350 in my 1970 LeMans back in the late '80s. I'm sure this one will make a little more noise than that one did! Thanks for documenting your work for me too enjoy! I know other viewers will find your work here beneficial. It is kind of hard to find a lot of material on these small cube Pontiacs. They've always been the Underdogs of the Pontiac community
Thanks Glen!! We are excited too!
Hello we're did you find the crystler Heater hoses thank you. Exhaust sounds nice who did it does it have a X pipe?
Hi Johnny. We got those hoses from Mancini Racing. The exhaust is a factory replacement from Gardner Exhaust. No H pipe.
@@blakesmusclecar thank you Blake love the darts!!!!!
I have to tell you, I don't believe this is the issue.
You might be right. However we noticed the bolt was loose on the field wire terminal and as soon as we tightened it we were back down to 13.8v. I will post more results after we replace the alternator.
Thanks Darren! If they knew all the fun we had, it’d have been a 3 hour long video! Can’t wait to get the red shot on the Barracuda
Joe on your cuda we're did you get them yellow headlights from thank you Joe?
We're did you get your new window felts from? Looks nice.
Hi Johnny. They came from Dante’s Mopar parts
I agree 100% from packaging to delivery. Integrity is lost ... people suck and don't care! Im 42 live in Ca, front row seat to seeing selfish handout people.
I've always loved the Capri's, My older brother has had a 80 Capri since he was 16, his had the 3.3.L (200 CID) Inlne 6 which was the top motor option in 79 and 80, the 302/ 5.0 version didn't come out until 81. You are right about the Capri having more of a European performance look, They also didn't have an automatic/speed manual transmission until 81, ALL of the 79 and 80's were 3 speed manuals.
It looks like we are about to install a new rear end in it. Stay tuned for it maybe next week.
It's great when I watch a video and get more knowledge than I expected. Reading the comment by Bill Stanton also helped. Thanks!
Thank you @cmintsurfer! I totally agree as we also gain knowledge from so many different UA-cam channels ourselves. Lot's to learn from others.
Integrity is what you do when no one is looking. Casting blame -- and any possible recovery on the USPS without purchasing extra insurance -- in light of his "efforts" to package it so inefficiently say in no uncertain terms that he doesn't care about anything except your money. Not the hobby, the parts, the people who devote their lives to restoring them, or having happy customers. It's pathetic and beyond sad anyone should have to endure an experience like yours Darren.
Thank you. I wanted to share as my friends have had even worse done to them. I have made mistakes but made sure we made it right with our customers as it goes beyond just money but integrity as you mentioned.
Hello, CC!
I have an all original 87 with 50k on it. I’m the second owner. The previous owner had the car re cleared and it came out really good. The paint gets a lot of compliments at shows. If your still looking for suggestions
If you are talking about Claire he is a complete clown and his work sucks shit......he used black tape on my grills years ago instead of black paint......people who use this ass hat are grossly misguided.
Sue this guy Blake this is totally wrong and yes it is on him!!!!!! And parts need insurance!!!! I would definitely Sue him Blake he needs to learn a lesson you don't do this things this way!!!!!!!
I don't think it would be worth it.
@@blakesmusclecar can't let him just get away with it Blake!!!!! Ps been looking for the Direct connection license plates any help thanks blake.
Agreed that the cost/benefit analysis doesn't pay out here. If your video helps just one person to make the right decision as to using him or not, it was worth the time to tell your story even if he keeps his side a secret. Thank you!
Hi Doug!! 👋
Like a new car!
Thanks Joe!
😎👍🇺🇸
We use to say "if a Chrysler saw a dark cloud it wouldn't start"
Thanks for the breaking it in...See ya in 400 miles to really "shakeitdown"...
Thanks Robert. If you watch our recent video of the Southern Plains Mopaar Fest we cruised it on the Route 66 Poker Run and I got into it pretty good on some open highway.
😎👍
Great stuff!!!
Thank you!!
Nice looking car, there's a voltage limiter on the back of the gauge cluster that runs the temp and fuel gauge it's suppose to cut the voltage down from 12 to 5 volts, you will have to pull the cluster out to do your checks and replace the limiter if it needs it. Classic Industries should have them.
That’s great information! Thank you
Glad that helped! Thanks for reminding me about the star washers. Those suckers really dig in!
Stop with the drama, man. M&h makes it plug and play. You're acting like you have a painless wiring kit in front of you. The plugs will only fit in one place! And if you're doing that job without a schematic, then that's lame . There's no way you should have been on the phone needing all this assistance.
Awesome show!
Very cool cars, the 1970 Plymouth GTX dark green with black top I've seen several in that paint scheme, it looks great.
Cool video! I've done the Western leg of Route 66 from the Santa Monica Pier to Amarillo, and a few years ago we did some of the Route east of Amarillo up to Missouri. We stayed at the Boots Court Motel in Carthage which has been restored with all it's neon. You should book a weekend there sometime. Carthage is the County seat, and the first floor of the Courthouse is full of memorabilia. There is also a Civil War museum in the town square. Since you're in OK, you should head over to Tuscaloosa and check out the Blue Whale!
Thanks Glenn! We will check that out for sure!
Blake who did your back trim and your front trim in argent silver???? On your red cuda I would honestly leave the roll bar in Alot less mess just paint it looks nice nothing wrong with the bar I would leave it alone!!!!!
Thanks Johnny. Steve at a place called Clair Young Restoration on ebay did our grills and trim. I’ll try to find the link. 904-466-4125 is his phone number
Too bad people want way way too much for these cars but they are special
A guy I went to high school with back in 86, 87 had a hatchback Capri with the bubble glass in the back. It was a 5.0. Grey in color. I always liked the Capris. I would take one of those over a Mustang any day. Rare as hen's teeth nowadays. I guess that bubble back glass was a thing from '83 through the last year in '86.
My buddy next door growing up in N Garland . He had a 79 Capri RS 5.0 coupe with manual and it has the cool forward facing hood scoop was a very cool car just faded silver black trim and the 302 2v 4 SPD OD manual with exhaust opened up it shredded the right rear tire great for what it was ... It didn't have a trac lok... hard to find now !
No he didn't, atleast not from factory, They didn't put a 302/5.0 engine in them until 81, ALL of the 79 and 80 Capris were either a inline 4 2.3L (140 CID) or a 3.3L (200 CID) Inline 6 and both had a 3 speed manual transmission. So if he had a 5.0 Capri it was either an 81 or newer or he put the 5.0 and 4 speed trans in himself or bought it from someone who did, it didn't come from the factory that way. My older brother is a walking/talking Mercury Capri Encylepedia.
The Capri had a 302 (5.0) in 79, 255 (4.2) in 80/81 and both in 82 (5.0 with stick and 4.2 with auto)
@@blackmagicfan3431 Not according to FoMoCo, the 5.0 didn;t even come out until 81 period, the 302 was made but not put in the Mercury Capri, they based the Capri's styling off of the european Ford Capri, and the rally cars that were popular at the time and they had to have either a 4 or 6 cylinder. The 79 and 80 only had the the 4 cylinder and the 4.2L strait 6. So IF you have a 79 or 80 with 5.0 or 302 period it was put in by someone else.
@@TheREALOC1972 Don't argue with me Skippy. I am sorry if you read bad info but stop regurgitating it. I have owned over a dozen of these and been a hard-core Mercury Capri guy since the 90's. You are wrong, get over it.
@@blackmagicfan3431 Sorry dude but you abslutely fucking wrong, My Brother is Dan Carnes, who is THE Mercury Capri Expert, so much so that FoMoCo often refers to him for production info on them. You..... don't..... know.... shit....... stop talking.
I had issues with mine I had no idea why my RPM were so high ..I disconnect the choke then set the main idle adjustment then hook up the choke again and set that
Hey I need some help tuneing mines u got a number got a question or two

That Meguiars is great stuff!
What an amazing car.
