Idaho Bass Fishing
United States
Приєднався 17 гру 2021
This channel is a tribute to Aaron Martens, one of two men who are responsible for my passion for bass fishing. It is also my way of giving back in a small way to the men and women out there who have to work a full time job and raise a family, and don't have the privilege of fishing as much as I do. I will be visiting as many Idaho lakes as possible, the vast majority of which I have never seen. I will take you along as I try to figure out each body of water during the spring, summer, and fall.

Good job man 👍🏽 I’m going to have to go fish out there one day. Thanks for the video keep it up.
Dude... You're missing the boat. Every video I've watched you do has been on bodies of water that have way better fish than you're catching. This is not a bash. It's just obseration. Contact me. I don't usually share stuff, but you don't kill em so I will offer you some solid info. I want to show you what you're missing.
@tonymccalmant444 I appreciate the offer but it just isn't the same if someone tells me how to catch them. For me personally, trying to figure it out is what makes it so much fun. If I just want to catch big fish I can have a swimming pool installed at my house and put big fish in it. I would know exactly where to find them and what bait to use.
@@idahobassfishing1650 I wasn't offering waypoints. Just offering a chance to learn something different to look for that will be transferable to other bodies of water. But, hey.. more power to you. I respect that. Everyone has to figure em out. If someone isn't interested in learning anything, not gonna force em. I love catching bass. I'd rather catch 20+ over 3 lbs in a day rather than 5 under 2. Good luck my friend. I admire the drive!
@tonymccalmant444 Tony, I really mean it when I say I appreciate the offer. I do this to entertain average fishermen like me. Average fishermen don't catch 20 bass over 3 pounds when they go fishing. I might be wrong but I think the majority of the people who watch my videos enjoy the fact that I'm just trying to catch a limit like they would be doing if they had the chance to fish all these different lakes. Anyone who wants to watch a person catch a bunch of big fish can watch the dozens of youtube channels that feature top pros who have that same information that you want to share. I think it's really thoughtful of you to want to share that info even though you wouldn't get anything back. I hope my videos don't frustrate you too much. I can picture you yelling at me to throw a certain colored whatchamacallit off main lake points. I sometimes act disappointed if I catch a small limit or no limit but the truth is I'm having a blast every time I go on a new adventure.
@@idahobassfishing1650 LOL.. I don't yell at the screen...much. haha!! I'm no pro (never will be) but I've become more open teaching in my later years. Not so much certain spots that I've figured out over the last 30 years of doing exactly what you enjoy doing, but more the educational part. Like, not the spot but "why here". And why on that tiny portion of the spot and not the entire area. Things like that. Best wishes Sir! If you see me on the pond, say hello! Can't miss my Kegend w/ orange power-poles.

Very nice!
I just read online that Triploid rainbow trout are modified to make them sterile. The are voracious eaters and grow to enormous sizes. 20-30 pounds. They say they are the most delicious trout.
Caught a lot of nice Walleyes and bass on Sprague Lake over the years. The water always gets green like that in the late summer. Doesn't seem to bother the fish 🐟🎣🐟🎣 That was a nice 5 lb Bass.
@dougstiehl3133 I didn't even know they had Walleye in there. I saw a boat trolling so maybe that's what they were trying to catch. I fished hard for those 2 fish. I was glad they were both quality fish.
@@idahobassfishing1650 They had Walleye in Sprague Lake years ago but killed off the lake. They put the remaining Walleye in Liberty Lake. They then put triploid rainbow trout, bass, bluegill, catfish and perch back in Sprague Lake. They were probably trolling for triploids.
@@dougstiehl3133 Is Liberty Lake good for Walleye?
@@idahobassfishing1650 They killed off Sprague Lake in the fall of 2007. I hear they catch Walleye in Liberty Lake and good channel catfish. I'm retired now and don't have a boat anymore. So I bank fish for walleye at porcupine Bay
@dougstiehl3133 The first time I went to Sprague I saw a school of fish that were probably in the 4 to 5 pound range. They weren't bass, trout, or Carp. Maybe those were the Triploids? I never heard of that type of fish.
Was that water that green in October?
@@mikem3414 Yes.
@mikem3414 Actually, that video was done in September but I went back a few days ago and it was still green.
@@idahobassfishing1650 how did you do the other day when you went back?
@mikem3414 I don't want to give it away but it was about the same as I did in September. It is my shortest video I have ever made for sure.
@@idahobassfishing1650 that Lake can be very stingy at times. Keep up the good videos, I enjoy them. I appreciate that you try many different lakes, I have a few lakes that I fish and I keep going back over and over without exploring other lakes. I guess I had a rut, and hopefully you will inspire me to get out and try other bodies of water
Hey John, appreciate the video’s . At some point maybe share some more interesting boating and fishing adventures from back in the day. Did you fish club tournaments a lot ? Thanks a bunch!
@danneyspain251 I didn't think people wanted to hear stories. I have told a few in some of my videos. I fished the WON bass pro/am circuit as an amateur during the late 90s and early 2000s. I also fished the WON bass team circuit with a guy named Rob Poor. I learned a lot but I also learned that tournaments were not my thing for a few reasons. If I thought a lot of people wanted to hear stories I would try to include them in the videos. I just don't want to bore people.
You need to learn a few new techniques. The Ned rig is a Smallmouth killer, but I do it one better and I came up with what I call the Drop/Ned rig. I tie on a #1 EWG hook as a dropshot and put a Peanut butter and Jelly TRD finesse worm on it. Then I tie on a 3/16th oz chartreuse Ned head and put a Coppertruse finesse turd worm on it. This is a killer combo that many times I catch 2 fish at a time. Also this time of year throw a KVD 300 or Xrap jerkbait in hothead or clown colors. Use a twitch twitch pause retrieve and you will light em up.
Do you do well with that on different lakes or just CDA?
I launch at that ramp with my kayak. Always good videos. Great fishing on the Spokane river..
@FEAR_DaCoachYT Do you fish that area of the Spokane River where it meets the lake or do you fish closer to the Columbia River end of it?
Great video! Keepum coming 👍👍
My friend caught a 6-2 smallie on Roseavelt couple weeks 2
@boba-mg5md That's a giant. I have been fishing for smallmouth for about 20 years and I can count on one hand the number of fish over 6 pounds that I have caught.
Good stuff! Thanks
You need to fish more and talk less.

Nets aren't that expensive
@@jasonlong3929 It's cheating.
@@idahobassfishing1650Cheating yourself outta a fish:)
@yamilehernandez8215 Trying to land them with no net is part of the fun and excitement. If I was doing it for money I would use a net.
👏👏👏👏
Good fishing, I enjoyed your excitement. Get a good 4 foot net and it'll definitely cut down on your losses 🪡
@@danielanthony9621 I feel like nets are cheating. I only use a net when I'm fishing a lure with multiple treble hooks because it sucks to get a hook in your hand.
@@idahobassfishing1650 Ok 👌 I say this in the most joking of manners and not out of any type of a dark heart I swear, but when I read your reply the first thought that jumped in my old Appalachian brain was if you don't want to cheat why are you using a fishing pole and not your hands 😊. Please find the humor in that. 🪡
@danielanthony9621 If you compare what we do today versus the pioneers of bass fishing we are cheating big time. I'm not even talking about live scope. In the 1960s before there was any type of sonar, those guys used to drag a lead sinker along the bottom to determine whether it was hard or soft or whether there were weeds. Now THATS impressive.
Love this place! Loaded with 3 + pounders...Hint...Next time you go, keep that topwater in your hand and stick to flats w/ weeds. A lot of big fish suspend there. Those are the ones eating your craw up high. Those suspended fish will usually eat top water too. If the wind blows, switch to a spinner bait and hang on. The last time I was over there, I went through 3 spinnerbaits in one day. Easily 50 fish OVER 2 3/4 lbs. Best five went around 22. Rosey's got em!
@tonymccalmant444 If I'm still doing this next year I will go again. I spent another day there and did get a double digit limit but nothing like what you're describing.
@@idahobassfishing1650 Keep searching. That place is fun! See you on PO sometime. Headed there tomorrow to pre-fish for ABA Championship. Gotta find 20lbs a day.
@@tonymccalmant444 That's why there were so many bass boats out there today. They must be all in the tournament.

That's a whopper
@@bow-leggedfishing5883 I was there a couple of days ago and got a 5.
Fished that place in 81, 83, there's lunkers there. There's also a lake called Turtle lake per the locals. It held some 5 pounders there. Got them on water dogs.
@olympiawashdrummer I bet there were a lot more lunkers there in the 80s. Hardly any people fishing for them and the few who owned a bass boats had primitive technology compared to today.

Did you catch a show at the theater?
@rschiwal Since I don't know what theater you are referring to I'm going to say no.
Good video, what's your best Lake PDR smally?
@tywaltman4044 I'm not 100% sure how much it weighed because the batteries in my digital scale were dead that day and I had an ancient scale in the boat that used a spring to calculate the weight. It was the first scale I ever owned. That scale showed just under 7 pounds but there's no way to know how accurate it was. I have caught a few around 6 pounds and this one was the biggest I ever caught.
