first real shoot with the BlackMagic Micro Cinema Camera Original... and it was also my first time trying out the cheap Fujian CCTV 35mm lens, which apparently is messed up. Are you using a cheap c mount adapter ? If yes, i had the same issue with some c mount lenses. Fixed that with the ''fotodios'' c to m4/3 (8$) which goes deeper and Closer to the sensor. Lovely greeny vibes.

      I’ve got to try it out on my OG before I’m sure… haven’t had a problem with that adapter with other C mount lenses on the OG or the Micro, so not sure. I think I’ve been using the fotodios, but I’ll double-check

      You’re very right in calling this song “derivative” - it’s the opening credits song to HOUSE OF THE DEVIL, a movie made in the 2000s but set in the early 80s, shot on 16mm, has great period production design… and I’m sure they were aping The Cars with this track

      The 16mm footage on your channel is really great. I have never shot 16 but I like shooting on Super 8 sometimes. I have one remaining Super 8 cartridge of Ektachrome in the fridge that I need to shoot sometime this summer. My dad is selling his 1968 Pontiac Catalina that he's had since 1967 so I think I may use that cartridge to get some footage of that car before it sells.

    • @bryanhiltner3552
      @bryanhiltner3552 23 дні тому

      It took a few tries to figure it out! It looked like these Fujian lenses did not have threading on the ends… but they do. The 25mm has a 30mm filter size, so I used a 30mm-37mm step-up ring and then the 37mm variable ND that I use with my Lumix pancake zoom. The 35mm and 50mm have 35mm filter threading, so I used 35mm-37mm step up rings for those

He says to use 6 nodes, but the raw controls for the BMPCC OG negate the use for one or two of them. Getting everything into the Arri color space really makes a difference. Nice. I like the slow focusing shots. They seem really abstract, and the scenery feels dreamy overall. That gives me some ideas to play around with. Thanks!

    Truly beautiful. I love the way you dramatised and gave rhythm to the bokeh. Some parts seemed almost infrared. Im very grateful you made this. I learned a lot. Thank you

    I've always thought this is a real film stock look aka what they called cinematic look. At least for me ... almost impossible to achieve it other ways. Great work!

    Very nice. Just watching it on my cell phone. I will rewatch on my PC. Not sure if the lenses perform well enough to justify 35mm, since 4-perf Academy is a huge waste if you crop it to 16:9. But its perfect for example for shots with a lot of clutter which requires high resolution. They did that for example on the movie City Of God. Shot on Super 16, but wide angle shots of the slums (lots of clutter) on 35mm.

      Yeah I never crop the image, anamorphic lenses are the only way I would ever try to get a widescreen frame with this type of 35mm camera. Wasn’t on my A game as far as focus-pulling went this time around. I do love the Lomo lenses, but this isn’t the easiest camera to use. And at some point I need to get a fancier tripod to smooth out my tilts & pans. Thank you for watching!

    Looking great! The opening shots are obviously the Takumar 17. The 500T looks incredible here and catches a lot of detail under low light. Excellent hand held work!
