come on chap,he's been around for a while when john was around..josh covered the RHCP during tour its just that you dont see him on stage cos he's behind covering John's riff at times...so if u ask me he is just as peppers as any any of the rest!...

With that logic we shouldn't give a shit about what John has to say as he isn't the original guitarist. Think about it...

Nick Morgan wrong... John has been around for most of the bans existence and he had a huge impact on their sound. Even if he wasn't the original guitarist, he joined the band before they were a well known group. So to most fans, he was always in the band. There aren't too many people out there who can say they were listening to the Chili Peppers when Slovak was alive.

IkHouNietVanKaas no he hasn't. get your facts straight... he basically officially became part of the band in 2009 when they got back together after a 2 year hiatus to record their latest album. Sure he toured a bit at the very end of the stadium arcadium tour, but John was still in the band, and Josh was there just for the fun of it. like for improvising jams live, and just as an unnecessary backup guitar. but yeah, he wasn't an official band member when he joined the final stretch of that tour. he just played with them cos he was a friend of the band and had done work with John on his solo projects. I imagine that most of the people who see him as an actual member, instead of just as a guy who plays with the chili peppers are fairly young. it sorta reminds me of new smashing pumpkins fans who like the new members, even though it's not really the smashing pumpkins when the only original member is billy corgan. sure the chili peppers only have one different member, but it's quite obvious that John had a massive impact on their sound and ultimately their success. he's an amazing guitarist, and he also influenced flea a lot, and taught him to focus more on putting emotion into his bass playing rather than showing off with his fast aggressive playing. john was great at knowing when to write something simplistic or when to write something complex. I didn't like a single song from the chili peppers last album. To be honest, I think the should have disbanded when John left. Ending with a double album would have been a great way to go out, rather than to drag out a career end tarnish the bands past successes with shittier music. i'm not saying the last album was crap or anything, but it doesn't compete with any of their previous work. i think it's best for bands to disband once they've been around for a long time and have put out tons of great music already. the whites stripes were smart, and quit while they were ahead. their last album already showed some signs of weakness, it was still a good album, but it was a little more monotonous than their previous work. there are many genres of music where you can only go so far with it. unless you started with a genre that was already a bit of a mix of genres, so it's easier to transition to different style without turning into a completely different band. the chili peppers are basically just funk/alternative. you can only do so much with that. they've already done enough and have proven themselves, which is why i think they should have disbanded and then they could have started new music projects under different names and try something totally different.
