Traditional Japanese Oni Dance Performed at a Mall
We happened to come into this mall one morning while on a road trip when searching for sliced ham at the y grocery store. They were just getting ready to start the performance. It was incredible and was two hours of non stop action and live music. Here is just a glimpse.

We Just Moved to Rural Japan and Now a Super Typhoon!
Переглядів 80Місяць тому
Within the first 10 days of us moving into our new home in rural Japan, a category 4 super typhoon (Shanshan) heads directly for us! We certainly didn't get weather like this in Alaska. Our home is considered old and has no insulation and only single-pane windows. There are storm shutters on 2 of the 3 sliding glass doors but that is it. We did the best we could to prepare and then hunkered dow...
We Moved to JAPAN! Our 10-Day Road Trip from Tokyo to Kagoshima.
Переглядів 209Місяць тому
We arrived in Tokyo on August 9th, were picked up by a friend at the airport and driven 3 hours to the west where we had a van waiting for us that we had recently purchased from overseas (no easy feat)! We started our road trip at about 11pm and spent the next 10 days winding through the backroads of Japan. We avoided all toll roads which doubled our drive time but made for incredible scenery a...
Moving Out of ALASKA and On Our Way to JAPAN!
Переглядів 27Місяць тому
After living in various parts of remote Alaska for the past seven years, the time arrived for us to move on. We loved our careers in the national parks over the past 20 years, but my line of work had taken its physical toll, and I had to medically retire. We felt that we were being called to the mission field and were on our way to southern Japan. We'd have to make the 3,000 mile drive through ...
Solo Snorkeling Myoken-ura Beach, Amakusa Islands, Kumamoto Japan
Переглядів 832 місяці тому
The water off the Amakusa islands was so clear that I was dying to find a place to jump in and test the underwater case I bought for my camera. There was a road that led down to a rocky beach where a number of people were heading in and out to scuba dive a large rock arch. The water was a refreshing 75 degrees f and was filled with many small tropical fish.
Last Hike in Denali with Trophy Dall Sheep and Golden Eagles
Переглядів 282 місяці тому
After a few years in Denali, my long career in the national parks came to an end. It was bittersweet. It would be my last hike in the Alaskan wilderness. I spent the day with a good ranger friend, and we hiked a trailless ridgeline punching through patches of snow in the late spring. At the windblown top, we came upon a group of huge Dall Sheep and later some golden eagles. It was truly a spect...
Hidden waterfalls in the mountains of Kagoshima Japan
Переглядів 344 місяці тому
Driving up into the mountains west of Kagoshima, searching for waterfalls and came across these two hidden gems. The road to the second one was pretty sketchy and was still covered with storm debris from the latest typhoon. Chigo Falls had some amazing deep swimming holes, probably 3-5 meters deep. Faster moving water by the waterfall, but peaceful and gradual deepening by the upper falls. Ther...

Great video. From 0:53 are two guys discussing in the Kiswahili Language of East and Central Africa, one of them in the vehicle, the other on radio. The guy in the vehicle says that another lioness has recently given birth to two cubs, referring to the lioness and two cubs seen at minute 0:55 onwards. The guy on radio answers by saying that these are certainly good times for the lion pride, in that the pride is eating well, and further growing the pride by "new arrivals" (the newly born cubs). Beloved, do you know the Lord Jesus Christ? Jesus is the Word of God, who became flesh. He lived a perfect, sinless life, then He died on the cross for our sins. On the third day, Father God resurrected Him; He rose from the dead; and now He is alive, and He sits at the Father God's right hand. He is the one and only true living God; there's no other, apart from Him. He loves us; He created us! He is not the God of religion, He is the God of a personal relationship! He desires a close relationship with us. He said in John 14:6, "Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' No one can come to heaven except through Jesus! Therefore, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior today, if you haven't done it yet! Repent of your sins, and ask Him to forgive you, cleanse you, and make you a new creation in Jesus Christ! Then invite Him into your heart, and into your life. Talk to Him and acknowledge Him on daily basis; run to Him in your distress, and He'll give you rest! Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Beloved people, tomorrow is promised to none of us; and without Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we won't have an eternal life in heaven. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and His sacrifice on the cross today; do not wait another minute! John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. ua-cam.com/video/TaKBTVpBw3g/v-deo.html

Agree we were too close, but our guide was driving us down a dirt track in high grass when they popped out right in front of us. All he could do was just stop the vehicle and let them move around us. It would have been much better if we had seen them from a respectable distance!

Are you a lioness ? The mothers decide when it's time.

    • @theartsyzoologist
      @theartsyzoologist 3 роки тому

They know what they are doing, notice there slower movements, in order to allow the smaller cubs to keep up and essentially keep the pace. If they were misplaced or confused the cubs would be scattered and the mother’s body language would look much different. By the way they were scoping the area out, they are likely moving them to a safer site. We see only half the picture, the obvious, but the lions are already ten steps ahead of our thinking or assumptions.
