January 28, 2023 The Megamat MCZ 56427 linear actuator that lifts the foot rest can stop retracting the foot rest into place. This chair has become obsolete so replacement parts may be hard/impossible to get. However you can repair this inexpensively. Remove the unit from the chair, and while removed and still connected extend the cylinder to the maximum position. Disconnect from the power cable and remove three small "Torx" screws. The cylinder will easily disconnect from the internal threaded reddish colored plastic piece. There will be approximately .010 inch clearance. A piece of an adjustable hose clamp can be used to friction fit/hold the cylinder and plastic part together. Cut about a 1/2 inch strip from a 5/8 inch wide stainless steel hose clamp. Bend it with a small lip on the edge to keep it from sliding into the cylinder. Match the curve of the cylinder by bending the piece and carefully slide the piece and cylinder onto the plastic threaded part. A hit on the end of the cylinder with a large rubber hammer or a piece of 2x4 should force the two pieces together. The slots in the piece of the hose clamp should help with keeping it in place. Replace the three screws, and reinstall, and it should eliminate your problem.

April 12, 2020 The wire that enters the hand control can break inside, from years of flexing. You can either replace the control, or shorten the wire a couple inches and re-solder. The chair will not work, may make some noises, with No error codes on the control.

Well .... Goodbye silicone, glue and old deteriorating plastic part. Hello new ESIM (AKA Fuel Vapor Leak Detection Pump). It actually is a switch that indicates pressure is present or absent. The black plastic section near the terminals deteriorates to a point of "not much hope". If you are getting E0440 it is a very small leak, and could be hard to find. E0456 indicates a larger leak. Seal up the large hole with the palm of your hand, and blow into the white tube, it you hear any air escaping you need to seal or replace it.

After 28 months the glue repair delaminated on the ESIM. This caused a short circuit when it was exposed to "wet" conditions, and the error returned. The contacts were cleaned and checked, and this time sealed with silicone. So far so good.

May 24, 2018 If your chair has quit working, with no error code, try this. Remove the main power cord from the outlet, and disconnect the back up batteries for a few minutes. Reinstall batteries and reconnect the main power. This may happen if the hand control button is held down while there is a restriction to proper chair movement.

March 24, 2016 This chair has been used multiple times per day since the MCM was replaced in March of 2012, 9vdc batteries were changed once. NOTE: If the wires are not routed properly, and secured, they may be pinched and cut during chair operation. The seat heater wire was severed by pinching and had to be spliced.

you gotta lube those kingpins every 1000 miles. Also, replace the gear oil for better cold weather performance.
