Welcome to the Camppatton Family Compound. In 2015 we started looking for a place to retire to OUTSIDE of California. My daughter had married at college and was going to settle down in Idaho. My wife said we should look there because she wanted to be near the grandbabies. We found a 4.8 acre lot with a house and a two stall garage and a small workshop, for $130,000. The price was great but the property needs a lot of work and our daughter & husband moved in while we were waiting to retire, and we now have 4 grandsons. In 2021 we got a second 1 acre place & house across the street.
Please join us as we fix up the properties, plant garden beds, an orchard and get ready to raise some livestock. Watch as we make our little place a safe haven for our family.
As the retired federal Emergency Management Coordinator I will be sharing emergency preparedness info on my other channel "Gray Man Prepping" at ua-cam.com/users/GrayManPrepping

Any danger, we use disel in kerosene latern
Diesel has toxic additives that makes it not healthy for use in the house.
Thank u 🙏🏻
And don't forget the button lamp from The Long Hard Winter book of Laura Ingall's. Axle grease smeared onto a china saucer, a button wrapped in cloth and tied over the button, the excess fabric forming a wick. I'm sure it smoked but it gave them light to read and cook by.
Great point! Definitely an emergency light source.
I need a new chipper. It would be a great help.
Now is the time to keep an eye on Home Depot & Lowes for sales
Now you have some good starting wood
We has some last night. it went on and on for most of the night
No disrespect at all, but I don’t think it was stressed enough, that in your thumbnail, you mention that these fuels are for “emergencies,” and not for every day use-at least that’s how I interpreted it. Diesel fuel may work, but given enough time in a small to medium sized room, it will smell like a truck stop very quickly-diesel fuel is smokey. An Amish gentleman who is very experienced with fuel lamps told me that they use Low odor mineral spirits in their lamps. It’s spendy but very clean burning, no smell and doesn’t carbon up the glass on the lamp.
No disrespect taken. Thank you for your suggestion on the thumbnail. I have changed it. Yes Diesel can be smokey if the wick is not trimmed (adjusted) correctly. And it needs trimmed often when in use unless one is using a carbon felt wick. I have since found out that on road diesel has more additives in it than off road and that puts off more toxic chemicals. I addressed this in the live stream I did last November on my preparedness channel (Gray Man Prepping) as a follow up to this video. Whenever I mention oil lamps in any live stream or recorded video, I say to stock up on a good quality lamp oil just like any other supply. Thank you for watching and your input. Stay safe and prepared.
Best wishes ❤
Very nice ❤❤ super 😊❤❤ best regards 😊😊❤❤

I love watching storms as long as not too bad. Lighting up pretty good there.
It kept it up throughout the night until 6am
You get some amazing weather! 👍
You got that right!
wow but so cool
Hi 👋 Gill
Hey Al
nice little light show. my power stations are juiced up ready to go
Should still let snow joe know about this garbage. At least tag them or send it to them. Thanks for review. 👍
Great job
That will make a nice slide set up
Nice job of cleaning up Gil, we’ve got about five acres to cut after the first of the year. Thanks for sharing and hope you all have a blessed week my friend.
Thanks, you too!
That stump will make a good slide mount for the boys
Wonder what killed the pine? You sure don't have a shortage of wood chips. 👍
I have my suspicions who drilled holes into it
Great music Gil…enjoyed the video. It looks real nice too 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Interesting video, we had a drought for over 2 years we lost a lot of trees in our area. I lost 2 in my yard but that was from Emerald Ash borer which has killed a lot of Ash trees in Mpls/St. Paul area.
Cedar apple rust has caused my apple trees to get sick as well.
Fatwood time, Gill. Still sick , had similar cough. Been sending new people to your channels.
Take care of yourself Al
👍👍
My neighbors pine trees were the reason my apple trees were sick. Glad they removed them
This has been quite the year for trees at your place. 😊
Yes it has and next year will also have a lot of changes
The manlift is a game-changer.
At first we were thinking of renting one of the tow behind ones and a chipper. I'm glad we didn't.
Am I doing it wrong? I can't cut cooked chicken with my knife, I hate this shit product
It is the steel used in the knife, some metals will not hold an edge no matter what you use to sharpen them. Keeping the knife ninety degrees to the Sharpal, sides straight up and down, and make a straight pull with just a slight downward pressure should work if the steel in the knife is of good quality.
Really good stuff. Lots to think about. I think there will be lots of people in the move, looking for better conditions. Thanks 👍
No doubt!
I need to invest in me a chipper like that, thanks for sharing Gil and hope you have a blessed Labor Day weekend my friend.
Keep an eye out for end of season sales at Home Depot and Lowes
I need some chips in my garden too, thanks for sharing your Gil and hope you have a blessed Labor Day weekend my friend.
Thanks, you too!
53:20 The AMOC, I think it's called.
Yellowstone is not a threat. Unless you count intentionally distracting the public a threat. Yellowstone is used that way.
34:20 If they've calculated such a window for Apophis, they can nudge it into a more favorable trajectory with nukes.
They wouldn't need nukes, a lander with fuel and thrusters would work

Glad you think so!
Very helpful. Thank you.
Thanks, replaying missed the live
Hope you enjoyed it!
Beautiful beds. New sub here. ❤❤
Thanks for subbing! The beds are getting better every year.
Thanks!
You're Welcome!
You don't want the weed mats around the trees. The best thing to do is place a couple layers of cardboard down before the the chips to get rid of weeds. Those weed mats don't allow the chips to break down into the soil properly.
No, you don't want cardboard in your garden. I have found out that the glues and chemicals used in making cardboard are toxic and making it into the food. Also the weeds were gotten rid of before the chips went down. I don't have weed mats. What I have are the tops from the IBC totes that collect the moisture that tries to evaporate from the soil in the summer heat and puts it back into the soil. Once the trees have been established for a couple of years I may remove them and use them with other new trees. Also the white IBC tote tops will reflect the late winter / too early spring heat from the sun, keeping the sap from flowing too soon and causing bark blistering. That is a big problem in this region. As the wood chips start to decompose, I will rake the compost under the tops where it will continue to decompose. You don't want to put the wood chips too close to the tree truck (especially young trees) as it can allow diseases and boring insects to get at the trees.
