Im a beginner, and i have the both, but everyday pen is lamy safari, for resistance reason. And twsbi is awesome, as well.

Is this 9x14 or 10x14?

I would love to see a nib size comparison with the same ink in all the pens. I believe FWP Storied Blue is a drier ink for example so the EF and F really did look the same 😅

Thank you for sharing. I enjoy seeing your ECO collection in use. I have and write with several ECOs myself. It is nice to see other colors that I do not have. EF is my favorite nib grind because I must write on cheap paper at school. But I am a nib chameleon that likes to match nibs to color, saturation, viscosity and shading/sheening properties of ink for my personal writing. So it is especially nice to see a comparison of grinds in relation to inks by someone who really uses ECOs often. Thank you!

Favorite TWSBI nib overall is M nib, but I don’t have a B nib, yet. I may order the Cream Eco with a B. I have a TWSBI Swipe with a custom B made into Architect nib that is wonderful, though!

So glad to see they sent you a new barrel section! I really love the rose gold color. Thanks for doing the comparisons on the different nob sizes. I don't have an EF or the Stub in TWSBI.

Howdy! Good job on the video, I've been curious what other people like for water resistant inks. Just wanted to point out that Noodler's Air Corps is NOT claimed to be full waterproof. It's listed as a partial on their website. The blue/green part isn't waterproof, but the black part of the ink seems to be.

For the TWSBI you need to use the tool to remove the piston. Clean the pen and then put a small amount of silicon grease on the piston. This will coat the barrel and stop stuff from sticking.

Platinum nibs are great but their gold plating is the worst in the business. You really have to be careful how you carry them. Any amount of small rubbing will remove the plating. Really annoying.

My first pen was a Monteverde Ritma. I have purchase about 20 pens since then, and now that I have some experience with other pens, I find the Ritma to be too heavy. Early on in my pen life, I also bought a Monteverde Invincia Vega, which is too heavy. The second pen I got was a Narwhal,and a big chunk of the cap cracked off the first night I had it. The pen store I got it from took it back with no questions. The resin is cheap. I won’t buy it again. It made me hesitate to get any resin pens at all. Now I save my money and get good quality pens, preferably with a gold or rhodium tipped nibs. OR, super-cheap pens that I can stick a shimmer ink in and not worry about it if I wreck them while cleaning.

I have 8 580’s and vac 700’s and come to realize replacing caps and some parts is all part of maintenance. I write with mine everyday. Replacement parts are very nominal and easy to fix. In comparison, I’ve sent in my pilot 823 few times to get it serviced.

I recently bought a premium kaweco nib for my Al Sport, out of curiosity. It's really nice, the writing experience is much better. These nibs do cost around 40 euros, so I guess around 45 bucks ?... but I'm very happy with my purchase, find myself picking up that pen way more often than I used to.

there's a twsbi limited edition i've had my eye on, but the limited edition are twice the price of the normal ones, and yet i keep hearing time and time again that they're breaking, so I just can't justify it :(

You really used your pens alot! I did the same last month and I didn't even realize it until 4 days before the end of the month. I hope your mini has an easy fix considering its more expensive.

This Kaweco Art Sport Hickory is a beautiful fountain pen. For me however: it is too light (only 12 gr) and too expensive. With a medium nib it writes beautifully. I have now filled it with Lamy Amazonite, a very beautiful green.

Oh you really love those!!! I purchased one and was so mad at the cartridge lol. I’m writing and ran out of ink. I knew then, that would be my first and last one. 😂 but your new one is soooo pretty.

Congrats on adding on to your tortoise collection. I have only one the Esterbrook Estie and I just love it. The white one of the Art sport has been on my list for a while but I keep getting distracted by other pretty pens. But I will add it. This is such a classy pen and I really love writing with my Kaweco sports. I do wish they came with the converters but I've been refilling the cartridges for now.

Twsbi strikes again

I love everything else about TWSBI except this persistent, known, disastrous issue. I have no idea why they have refused to do anything about this for YEARS. Mine cracked in half like 7 years ago. To their credit, if you contact them, they will send you a new one or at least a replacement part.

Your Rose Gold Lamy is an LX not an AL-Star.

I second the others saying just to get a replacement barrel from them However, I’m not sure it’s really necessary to remove the feed every single time you clean it. Only remove it when absolutely necessary. It’s possible that this contributes to the cracking issue. The 580’s are designed to be removed easily. The Eco’s are not.

if all else fails, get a TWSBI Eco demonstrator, and swap out the nib , piston and cap, so you just use the barrel from the demonstrator and all other parts from your limited edition pen.

TWSBI is junk, het a wingsung or asvine.

You want a simple answer? Don't buy Twisbi anymore, it's crap, their transparent plastic cracks ALL the time. Turn instead to Nahvalur (formerly Narwhal), they're much better quality for the same price, and don't have any pathetic business practices.

Twsbi have an amazing customer service if you contact them they will send you a replacement part. I had the same problem and they sent a replacement barrel.

Great pens! Wonderful Writers. It's hard to find really strong clear materials. I love my TWSBI 580 Diamond but I do treat it delicately. If I have to treat a pen toughly, I use a Safari or especially a Lamy 2000. They may or may not be as good but they won't break ..... or even that damned expensive Pelikan. Once it has a scratch, I'll feel better about using it. When I had a problem, I emailed TWSBI a picture and they replaced parts at no charge. Brilliant service as it was well out of guarantee. Of course, being a lover of the pen and saying so loudly probably helped. Making pens transparent AND strong may be a contradiction. The cockpit of an F-22 Raptor is clear Lexan, the same material as in in an L2K where the material uses the name Makrolon. Keeping the price reasonable determines a lesser material.

To people said to purchase a new barrel I second that, just reach out to them and they would just have you pay for shipping and you can just take it apart with the included wrench and put it back together. Besides watching a number of youtube videos you can also just take it apart and slowly put it back together. Yes it is a bit fiddly when getting that piston part to extend enough, but it should take 15-30 mins tops for people that have not tinkered with this pen before. I tinker alot and can do this in less than 5 mins, so I believe that you can do this as well.

Do NOT try crazy glue! It eats the plastic. Ask me how I know? ;) (my Vac Mini barrel has cracked twice) Not buying any more TWSBIs.

I got two replacement feeds and two barrels (pen bodies) about a month ago. I had my white and rose gold crack and swapped it all out. LA office. They take PayPal only though.

This is easy to fix if you get a new barrel. You will have to take out the entire piston mechanism using the wrench TWSBI provides. It's a little tricky to get the piston mechanism back in correctly, so you may want to watch some videos first. (Goulet Pens has a good one. It's for the 580 but the concept is the same.) Remove the nib and feed and insert them into the new barrel. Just be careful not to crush the fins on the feed because they are fragile -- I hold the nib and feed by the side as much as possible to pull them out. You will be able to get them into the right spot on the new barrel easily. While you have the pen disassembled, put a little silicone grease on the edges of the piston head for maintenance. Honestly, this is an easy problem to fix. If you are not sure about doing this, maybe a pen club member can help you?

I avoided twsibi to save myself heartbreak.

This is a commin problem and easily fixed. You can replace the entire barrel, as it appears that none of the unique Golden Horse pieces are in the barrel. You will need to remove the entire filling mechanism using the wrench TWSBI provides. It's a little tricky to get the mechanism into the new barrel exactly right, so you may want to watch a few videos first. (Goulet Pens has a good video. It's for the 580, but the concept is the same.) You can also just pull out the nib and feed and move them to the new barrel. Just be careful to hold it by the sides so you don't crush the fins on the feed. They are fragile. This is an easy problem to fix, to be honest. If TWSBI can't ship you a new barrel, but a regular ECO and use the barrel from that.

warm water expands the metal and pushes against a weak plastic. sorry. they need to change their sections to a softer plastic.

There is nothing to do about it. You can only buy a super cheap version of any eco and take the body of this.
