Songwriting - What is an Action? PART 1
OMG that's where I know you from. You're the guy who got kicked out of sick puppies! Jeeez what a turn for you. Those who can't do teach I suppose... I might not take such pleasure in it if you stuck to your lane of corporate safe alt rock. You don't know a damn thing about hip-hop, you're obviously just making these videos to capitalize on the biggest story in music at the time for your stupid music courses.

This song is awesome. Is she really talking about herself? I don’t know really. I think she wanted to make a fun pop song and that’s it
I’m a vocal and music producer. Singers often want to add add add. But it is really about better choices.
Billie said this was the most difficult way she could have sung the song, but it was what the song wanted. She knows her craft very well.
Love this !
Yes definitely in the details I’m learning …
I would LOVE to hear you dissect some of REN’s “ songs”.
It doesn’t matter how many times I hear this song, I cry. It’s relevant. It will ALWAYS be relevant.
I understand the title and song is inspired by Spirited Away but for me it’s what the song does - It spirits you away .
how i hear its his last album, that why firt song is from slim times
I’m not a musicIan but I am a an artist (visual artist and writer) and your sentiments regarding art and its purpose very much resonated with me. Thank you for that.
Amazing analysis. It really makes me wonder how you would dissect “my future” by Billie. Oh! And also “The 30th” my gawd, that song is masterful in its storytelling.
You didn’t finish the song! There’s still a little isolated ad-lib that has been present throughout the song. I do understand what you mean about the tiniest of little lulls in terms of momentum in the establishing of that part at the beginning of the song - at least the very first time one hears it. But I think to continue listening anyway and trusting that it’ll be worth that moment is something that I think Billie has earned. I know that there have been some rare songs by Billie that I’ve initially disliked purely because they FEEL disruptive or jarring to expectations, but literally as soon as you listen to it repeatedly and your brain catches up with all the intricate details of the composition, you couldn’t even imagine it being any other way and it often becomes some of my favourite sounds. And I think that this moment in the song is one of those. I feel like it very much makes sense within the context of the song, as a kind of cyclical process of events. That could be inspiration, a toxic relationship, awareness, identity, all sorts of things. And it has such a deep seated generic (in the best possible way) truthful element to it, that it can’t be any other way. Despite the fact that it initially feels like it doesn’t match what we have known. It’s kind of difficult to explain. Billie’s songs just have an element of consistency that one has to - in a way - surrender to, and sometimes that includes the initial discomfort based on “what we know”, which doesn’t exactly mean that it’s been good, or that it fits with our reality now. I’m rambling and don’t even know if I’m making sense, I hope so. My point is, I totally get what you were saying upon first listen, and I also get why there are commenters saying how dare you because they’ve listened to it a lot now. Oh, one more thing. We so consistently get insane quality from Billie, that I think we hold her to a different standard than most artist in the industry at the moment. As you said, even at first listen, with that initial sentiment toward a tiny part of the song, within the industry as a whole it’s an absolute slam dunk. And now add lots of listen and it becomes a space jam Michael Jordan kinda flying slam dunk.
good content shim ! keep it up
FYI, he owns the label
This song is prfection
“Like a silk sheet kinda flapping …” YES!!!!! So well said!!
I’m so glad you mentioned that the chord progression is classic country. People are saying that she has a country twang in this song but I feel like it’s less her voice that’s giving that vibe and more the music that’s reminding people of something Dolly would sing.
i think this whole album is billie's best work and i'm loving it, but agree some of it is slightly repetitive and a little extra tweaks could elevate each song individually and as a whole more. she's still young, and i've been loving her music since "bored", i think if she continues to do what she's doing she will refine her craft more and more and be able to change up the 'boring' parts. i also get that she's a bit more alternative and sometimes that comes with being experimental and so i welcome whatever repetitiveness, or parts of her songs where i think it could be better because i know that's part of the process of growing as an artist. to me, the best song on the album is birds of a feather 10/10
So... never heard of set it off... will now be hearing them a lot more.
That’s a really good point !
I really love this song I’ll be listening to the group ! Very excited to hear something new and fresh …so much to learn 😊 love the style .
i feel like some of the blandness is required for the big moments to actually feel big and like a slow crescendo
YES!!!!!!!
I love all her songs... this is a grower song not a shower imo. it took me multiple listen to the album. atmospheric!
This song is like crack - the more you listen the more you crave it. You’re unfamiliar at first then as you listen you know what to expect and you want it. Chorus and all! 🎉
chihiro is the song of the year. You are not allowed to find it boring.
RIGHT!!!! HOW IS IT HONESTLY SO UNDERRATED, THE PRODUCTION AND VOCALS ARE PHENOMENAL
The song and even the title is inspirated by anime called spirited Away, the title CHihiro is name of the protagonist. Also there are important scenes in the anime with door and name, or forget.
I actually like the space in this song and the repetitiveness of it because it gives it a casual feel that's so nice
I think this video represents Billie’s struggles with her masculine side! She’s closing doors in her mind that don’t fit with how she feels inside. She finds a door with exploring. It’s upstairs (uphill battle) to get to where she finds her masculine side. She’s fighting it only to realize it’s in her mind. She finally excepts it and the she’s out (outside) she’s happy being free only to realize she will always be struggling or fighting that inner fight with her masculine side!
That's what I thought too.
I think its about a man
@@Why4k ya the man within her!
I love that interpretation, and it makes sense in terms of how she said in an interview that the chase at the end that there are situations and thoughts and one can’t escape.
Stumbled across you today. Enjoy the information and way you present your content. Super interesting. Subscribed.
Great reaction, pls check out Feather
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤okokok
She’s taking you on a journey with her voice …it’s a little long at open up the door part in the beginning for me ,may get disinterested at first but I listen to the end . I love the part where she’s melodic with her voice …it’s catchy I’m singing to it . I’m realizing melodies and inflections play a good part in song writing …I love the flow and how her voice is unassuming she just takes you on this ride .
After my first listen to this track I would have tended to agree with your assessment of that first "open up the door" part. Now that I've heard it more than half a dozen times (I can get a little obsessive) I just hang on and enjoy the experience. She has done amazing things with her voice on this album and the soundscape is incredible. This feels like a transition album to me and I can't wait to see what's next.
Please do a reaction to her song espresso
if you enjoy her songwriting I would absolutely recommend her song tornado warnings! it’s very clever and the melody is super catchy. she got the idea to write it after getting two tornado warnings while out with a guy because she realized that might’ve been a red flag for the relationship lol
shut up and listen to the song.....
Thanks man!
Second time around to comment …I love the melody …it’s spoken like she’s reading out of her diary or thinking out loud …I like it . She’s got good hooks . Smart and I feel this could help me in one of my songs … it’s flowing and very interesting it pulls me in .
You’re awesome. Thanks for being here
@@shimonmoore2486 I love these analysis of songs and it does help to see the different styles …really no wrong way it seems as long as it flows and fits . By the way you’re Awesome too glad to be here.😊
Believe me I’m getting value out of this 😊 and I’m enjoying new music (to me) I will utilize this to my songwriting …I believe in watching something to the end you never know what you’ll get out of it. 😁 have you ever done an analysis of One Republic ?
I subbed bc of this awesome reaction.. you spoke my heart.. keep up the good work, and thank you!! xo
I want to be punched in the face in concerts, this is the song for it
Well not quite, this song is in its Cor Form 5 Years old. Then Babymezal released it on (I think) " Metal Galaxy". Only the Live Version, wirh a different mix is new.
Maybe do 5 seconds of research before posting your videos. This song is more than 5 years old. It's the opposite of a new song, genius. Duh.
Song came out from galaxy album four years ago
Although Brand New Day originally came out five years ago on the Metal Galaxy album, this was somehow the first time that Babymetal and Tim and Scott finally managed to be on the same stage to perform it live together. They didn't waste long playinging it again after this first time, because they performed it at Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium a few days ago. I was in the pit at FOX_FEST for this performance, and it was actually pretty special to see this live in person. The way it was staged was spectacular, and it looked pretty much just like the video here.
I think this is a near perfect song and very much diasagre with almost everything you said lol
Good one, this song is absolutely amazing. I will say that Babymetal definitely utilize that whole stage throughout their show, but not in this song in particular. Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊
Tip: you put a kpop tag on the video, but it's jpop (Japan) not kpop (Korea). 🙂
Good reaction/analysis, welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊It sounds like you may be familiar with some BABYMETAL, I wonder how far you have looked into them and if you are aware of how diverse their catalogue is? 4 studio albums plus live albums and numerous live concert DVD, about 70 songs and each one different to the last - and each with its own bespoke choreography. 'Brand New Day' is 5 years old now, it was on the 2019 album Metal Galaxy. Tim and Scott provided the guitar tracks for the original recording, this was the first opportunity they had to play it live together. One of your comments suggested you didn't think BABYMETAL fans would be too familiar with Prog Metal? Can I point you towards 'Tales of the Destinies' from the 2016 album Metal Resistance. It was only played live once - at the Tokyo Dome in 2016. Some say it pays homage to Dream Theater's 'Dance of Eternity'. I would be interested in your reaction and analysis.
