I’ve heard people say that the clarinet soloist’s mic was tuned to the stadium speaker frequency and that’s why it was so loud. That or it was just left on by accident 🤷🏾‍♂️

One of the directors accidentally did a frequency reset of the battery backup for the mic system in the mixer as we were warming up on the field. This caused the clarinet receiver to link with the frequency of the stadium speakers. Since they didn’t want to reset the whole receiver system again and risk having no mics for the rest of the show, they were trying to signal to our clarinet soloist to stop playing, you can hear the moment he realizes what’s going on and stops playing. It was a super rare and funny moment after the fact, but during the performance it was probably the most challenging listening environment we’ve ever had. As center snare, it was so hard to keep time with the drum majors while you have a loud clarinet blasting out of the speakers facing towards you about a half a second late. But we pushed through and finished the performance, got second surprisingly, but finals was unfortunately cancelled due to rain

@@ghdesign_ curious, what is the “battery backup”?

@@dallashobbs2000 it’s so that the mics stay connected to the receiver during the time it takes to move onto the field. Then after they move on, the mixer is plugged into a generator so no battery is needed anymore. It basically just keeps the mixer running for the ~20 min in between warmups and performance

Thanks for listening! Agreed, especially about the brass having a lot of echo to it. I love the improved audio quality for each individual instrument, but the dynamics for each one are starkly different compared to the old version and other composition software. I thought the saxes sounded funny lol during the woodwind feature when they first come it I kept thinking I had input wrong notes lol One of the biggest issues for me is the reduced range for the instruments. As you can see, I had to include lines with high notes that don’t play for certain instruments on the MuseSounds software :/

Also, do you know what I can do to fix the page settings when I upload the score to UA-cam from MuseScore 4? As you can see it’s all zoomed in even though it looks fine on the website 😅

Stupendous performance by you guys! Such high quality sounds all around! And I can tell you all improved a lot in this performance compared to your HEB performance.

@@dallashobbs2000 Thank ya! Also I can shine a little light on what happened at HEB in our part 2 or part 3 technically. Our left your right drum major was one beat ahead which especially with being a tuba had us go early, which caused the massive tear you hear because half the low brass went when he counted us off rather than the proper time frame.

@@sirus976 ah ok. Yeah when I saw the performance in person I was wondering what happened there. I was assuming that because the brass had all that multiple-tonguing going on it was just hard to get the timing right. The more you know lol
