I'm also very skeptical of the approach- namely because reynad's underlying assumptions are either wrong or counter-intuitive. First, at 1:53, proof of work does not work; this has been known since at least 2004 via a University of Cambridge paper. Email uses DKIM and most recently machine learning, not proof of work, to mitigate spam. Second, the comment also assumes that bots are not good enough to farm ranked. Corbett has video showing a bot in legend on Hearthstone. With machines learning, all it takes is one sufficiently trained bot to spawn equally "skilled" clones. Third, at 2:15, requiring players to play well to access ranked is cannibalistic, such that the best players feed on and push out the worst from continual participation. If those worst aren't adequately incentivized to return (via ease-of-access or potential rewards), then the ranked population bleeds out, and those underperforming only play casual at best or leave entirely at worst. If I had to make a mostly uneducated guess, the outcomes will be one or more of the following: 1) Ranked is accessible or incentivizing enough that none of these issues 'matter', but botters remain undeterred; 2) Ranked is NOT accessible and NOT incentivizing enough such that the ranked population shrinks as players stick to casual or leave the game entirely; 3) Ticketed ranked play backfires as bots surpass human players, and botters gain a sizeable amount of control over the ranked rewards market while simultaneously pushing humans out of ranked. Rather than try to deter bots from ranked (and inevitably push them into casual), it'd instead be better to make botting unprofitable. The solutions are better for the consumer, but likely worse, less profitable, or less desirable for the business. But I'm just some guy, so I wouldn't weight this all too heavily.

Only quick start tips I need is to explain to me how its possible Ive won 6 ranked and 4 free games and haven't gotten a single reward for it. Game is great and addicting, but the beta isn't an excuse for this shit. Especially if the microtransactions work perfectly IN THE BETA. Love the game, hate this shit though

When i have a bad run it doesn't seem like i lost to bad RNG. There are so many decisions that i can usually find a few areas where i could've improved. Holding an item too long, not saving money when i could, not full pivoting or picking the wrong PvE fights.

Played about 10 times and always get absurdly stomped halfway through the game always, the pig is completely broken, in day 5 he had a 2x 800 damage item and infinite shields while I barely have any weapons, ridiculous

I did well my first game by stacking slow synergy. As soon as i started playing ranked, though, i started getting stomped

By halfway through a run every opponent is impossible to beat with 1000shield per second or 300 poison per turn while I have 60 damaage pistol it's absolutely ridiculous

You mentioned 2 things: How does it work with new "cards" and "packs"? From my understanding and what I´ve seen isn´t it similar to HS Battlegrounds, where there´s a pool of cards that you can pick from without having your own collection. Do items only appear as an option for me if I pulled them from a pack? I get that you have to purchase or unlock different heroes but I thought the cardpool was identical for every single player (dependent on the played hero). Thanks for all the videos!

It's been really interesting to hear that they change things drastically (encounters, merchants, items) this much leading up to and during beta. I understand tweaking and tinkering, but if they completely throw out what an encounter was doing and make it be something so different than what it was, what have they been doing the last few years via balance? Just seems odd that it's not more locked in and they'd only be doing balancing of "this does 1 50 X VS 25 y". 🤷‍♂️

Overall a very informative video, but there was a bit of disingenuousness regarding Bazaar metas. Specifically, in one breath the creator talked about obvious positioning mistakes, but said that, looking at the items in the stash and board, there were many ways to play this and no one correct answer. He also caught himself saying he was used to the old meta and will have to adapt to the new changes, quickly amending his statement to say that the Bazaar has "no metas." It came off as very shilly, and it insults the intelligence of the viewer to insinuate that the Bazaar will never have any metas.

Seems kinda counter intuitive to have to swap the card to the left position before having to click "upgrade your item to the left" and then position it back where you had it, instead of just having the option to "click on the card you want to upgrade 1 tier" straight away? Seems just annoying ?

Regarding ranked. He didn't say what would happen if you finished with 1-3 wins... He specified 4-6 wins nothing happens. If you couldn't lose rank wouldn't he have just said if you get fewer than 7 wins nothing happens? This implies if you get 0-3 wins something will happen, with the most likely thing being your rank going down.

Do we know a specific time for the closed beta unlock? I think I might get shafted as a European if its in US time :(
