I'd recommend rewatching it if you really want to understand a bit better, but if I was to explain it with some real quick and dirty math, 1 dedenne proc increases the odds of critting from 10% to 20%, doubling the number of crits, so if the expected number of crits in 10 meals is 1, it then becomes 2 with a single dedenne proc between crit meals. If we let dedenne proc 2 times between crits, the expected number of crits in that 10 meal duration becomes 3, but because every time the meal crits requires us to run dedenne again to get that crit chance up, the value per dedenne proc is lower the more you get between meals because you need to proc it more in order to sustain that higher crit chance. The math goes as follows for 10 meals: 10% yields 1 crit with 0 procs=UNDEFINED value 20% yields 2 crits with 2 procs=1 additional crit for 2 procs=each proc is worth 50% of a meal 30% yields 3 crits with 6 procs=2 additional crits for 6 procs=each proc is worth 33.33% of a meal 40% yields 4 crits with 12 procs=3 additional crits for 12 procs=each proc is worth 25% of a meal 50% yields 5 crits with 20 procs=4 additional crits for 20 procs=each proc is worth 20% of a meal 60% yields 6 crits with 30 procs=5 additional crits for 30 procs=each proc is worth 16.67% of a meal 70% yields 7 crits with 42 procs=6 additional crits for 42 procs=each proc is worth 14.29% of a meal Similar to E4E, Tasty Chance S has drastic diminishing returns with every additional proc between crits because of this effect. Additionally, since each proc is making the previous proc weaker with it, their value goes down even more than the above chart would lead you to believe. The first proc dedenne gives between crits is worth 50% of a meal; the 2nd one brings the total gained from all procs to 66.67%, so the difference from the first proc is only 16.67%. So that first proc is 3x the value of the 2nd, and it only gets worse from there. For most players, it is rarely worth it to proc dedenne more than twice between crits considering the opportunity cost of running something like an ampharos who has a fixed value for every proc, even though that first and maybe 2nd procs are 100% worth it.

Yea--DSM mons really are like any other skills mons, not at ALL worth it unless you can get their skill up there either through event boosts or skill seeds, which is a HEFTY investment for most players.

It sounds like you've been using it pretty optimally. It certainly doesn't need a ton of procs to be strong, so you've got it right there. I didn't even touch on the fact that cram and weavile running consistently can basically just do dedenne's job for it despite not being skill specialists because of the impact of diminishing returns from the skill.

It will reset the triggers if they have one banked, but just collect the triggers before swapping it--then swap it. As for pity procs: I am unsure if it resets the pity proc counter or not. Even if it DOES reset the pity proc counter though, I wouldn't worry about it at all unless your mons have skill down in the nature, or something. Even on their base rate with no skill chance modifiers at all, the odds of hitting the pity proc limit before getting a proc through random chance on one of the Kanto starters is around 20-30% depending on which starter we are talking about, and that is assuming you don't have any subskills or nature boosting skill chance. If you have that, the odds of hitting the pity proc point are even lower. The opportunity to get a stronger mon on there after the dedenne gets a proc off is definitely worth the risk of making it take ever so slightly longer before it procs its main skill, especially if that main skill is lower level because you haven't invested seeds. I might make a video in the future about pity procs because it is a very interesting mechanic.

It is more important to think about the value of a proc though when you think of it in terms of opportunity cost. You may want to maximize the number of crits, but using dedenne a ton more to get a few extra crits in a week isn't going to output as much strength as if you take that time to run something else that contributes strength directly, unless you are making those REALLY powerful meals. It'll feel better to get more crits for sure, but the numbers just aren't there to back it up as an optimal decision. The patience for the crit with the additional mon that is strong in other ways is the optimal choice. If you like crit fishing though because getting crits is fun and satisfying, then do what is fun for you. The goal of the game is to have fun and if optimizing gets in the way of that fun, then it is the opposite of optimal.

Yea; when I made the tier list, I made the cutoff niche vs generally good for C tier. I didn't at all take into account 16 pip investment cost cause I was trying to evaluate if you already have one with great stats, not whether or not you should hunt them. As you can probably see in responses to other comments, I am still very torn about if I am to use it or not. I'll let it sit in the box for now, and at the very least, if more things power creep honey production and/or apple production, then he'll fs see the light of day eventually.

This gave me a chuckle. I wish it were as simple as just taking the Smogon tiers. That would make things real nice and easy. I wish I had usage stats just like Smogon does because that would be a really good basis for uses, although it would be kind of flawed for certain things. I feel like anything that costs 16 pips wouldn't be used as much just because of the cost to catch a good one, and fan favorites that aren't necessarily good would have unfairly high representation due to a pretty casual fanbase that doesn't necessarily always care about min maxing, but at least it would be SOMETHING objective that defines the challenge, even if the statistic used would have some flaws. I'm very on-the-fence about it. I can very clearly see both approaches to it. On one hand, Pinsir is definitely a decent option that a lot of players throw biscuits at even if they AREN'T this account. On the other hand, It is not the BEST option for any one of its particular jobs--skeledirge outperforms it for apples and venusaur outproduces it for honey. On one hand, I don't want to push the lines of the spirit of this account, but on the other hand, I don't want to be so restrictive that we don't have fun with it still by every team just being 4 berry specialists and an energizing cheer mon because nothing else even works. I'm trying to postulate more objective methods/lines in the sand and it isn't the easiest thing to do.

I've considered that. If I did do that though, I think I would exclude Dedenne, Weavile, Steelix, Delibird, and Heracross for sure though. They are all the best thing at what they do and I can't justify using something that is the optimal choice for any given role, even if they are expensive.

Yea; that and dragon; potentially poison even . Still though, if I had a butterfree in advance, then I wouldn't need to hunt a [whatever mystery bug-type is] when it comes out; I would already be set. I would just need a GREAT one. It is easy enough to hunt and evolve though, so I am not bothered. It just needs to cross that raichu threshold.

I don't need an apple or honey farmer immediately so it will be sitting in the box for now until I can potentially make usage of it; once I could actually use the apples, then I will reconsider if I think it should be allowed. I've been contemplating how to evaluate all of this. I go back and forth quite a bit. It's a personally made challenge so like, I set the rules, but at the same time, I don't want to go against the spirit of what this account is designed to do. If I start allowing really mid-tier stuff, then the bottom tier stuff don't even get a chance to shine here. I'm very conflicted.

For the sleep sleepers account, I am using an old phone that is kinda not the best for this game--its got no actual motion detection compatability so every time I do sleep research with it, it gives me that error message and replaces it all with balanced sleep. I do start it before I actually go to bed though and oftentimes forget to wake it up right away, leading to some hilariously long sleep sessions on this account.

Anytime! I don't think there is anything wrong with the slow twins video, as they haven't undergone any drastic meta changes, buffs, or nerfs, but just keep an eye out on my videos how old they are if using them to gauge which investments to make. The game devs change things quite a bit and I don't want people making any bad investments due to old advice I gave that was good at the time, but may not be the best for the modern meta. I do intend to start remaking all the old ones that have outdated info to help with this, but I want to finish the dex we currently have before updating the old ones to be more accurate, and I am still not there yet.

It depends; I would say generally, that is fine, but I would maybe hold off from doing somthing like that if they are a pseudo/legend, or have an XP down nature. Consider the circumstances though; if you can get a LOT of strength from a mon for one week by just barely pushing it to 25, especially if it isn't one of those top-tiers that you really want to be phenomenal, then every time just get it to 25.

If you have a great pot expander, it EATS those ingredients so much. There is certainly a lot of potential there.

I would LOVE more ingredient bag space. If you use that bag space intelligently, it opens up SO much potential for team planning for events. even just 100 more ingredients would be great.

Yea, for triple trigger, speed down doesn't matter at all. Skill up, speed down is still a net positive for skill specialists. I hope I can get as lucky! (although I would love HB on it as well)
