Water pumps and oil pumps are consumable parts which go on any car so hardly a fair comment to say don’t buy one because it happened on your mates car once!!!
Oil pumps are very common to shit themselves in these generation range rovers. So he is correct in what he said. They might be nice to drive and look cool. But we all know they are money pits. Wether it's turbo actuators that go, oil pumps, timing belts, air suspension, electric handbrake issues. Each car has issues. But Range rovers all round are plagued with problems. Anyone that says otherwise is lying to themselves. That's why they have depreciated massively and you can pick them up for next to nothing. Because each one of them will have some sort of costly issue.
Well said i want one of these but like you said most of them different engines are terrible. The 2.7 TDV6 is cheapest to buy because they have Peugeot engines, i personally dont trust french crap 😅 they are a nice place to be aren't they "when" they are fully working. Same goes here if i was to buy one it would have to be the 4.4 V8. They hold their prices well
Sadly Landrover never go it just right there was always common issues throughout the range but from my research the 4.4 AJ jag v8 seems to be the only proper option. Thanks for watching the video please subscribe if you havn't already 😁
@@theprojectproject22 exactly mate, how would you compare this range rover or the l322 to the MK1 touareg? I personally prefer touaregs
Ice cold cool this thing
I had a 2,5 liter diesel automatic. After warranty, it turned into a technical and financial nightmare. Sold it for export to Africa.
I use to really like the 2.5 litre but after my last one the engine ran away with its self. So it didn't really end well.
Cracking review lads that exhaust sounds banging 😂

I have a yellow 2003 Barchetta. I chose it because of the style which along with the limited production numbers really sets it apart. That and because I like the Rush song. ua-cam.com/video/rMPdKmyYg9Q/v-deo.html
if you want to daily drive a P38, then i think you need 2 things: A Nanocom, and to disable the immobiliser with the nanocom. If you dont do that, you cant disconnect the battery because the immobiliser will leave you stranded. It a much more humane and friendly car without that immobiliser.
Absolutley 100 percent, this will be covered on the ultimate p38 buyers guide coming soon❤. Thank you for your comment
Where can you get a nanocom for the p38? I would love to buy one. But there are so many….
What a coincidence. I currently have a CLK500 in Aus, coilovers tune wheels etc. I'm looking at selling it for a Legacy GTB ETune. What did you think was faster and better at handling? Cheers!
The gtb was quick, id say the clk500 had more to give and more torque, the gtb was the best handling down
@@theprojectproject22 awesome thank you
Great video brother! I'm subscribing!
Been restoring a 2001 P38 Bordeaux V8 auto in Alveston red like yours. While they are an acquired taste they are hugely underrated. They are also never as bad as people make out. I have always liked the shape of this car so bought a right shed on eBay and have found a brilliant car underneath all the builder's cr*p inside. Perfect body, sound chassis but unlike yours I will be changing back from the springs that are fitted to full air suspension. And everything (finally) works. Enjoy yours it looks pretty mint.
They are awesome, we have a bordeaux coming to the channel aswell that we bought off ebay which will be an interesting few videos. Thanks for the comment. I totally agree they really are cracking cars to be honest.
are you going to sell this one, Thank You for p38 video's
Can you do a video on the 1999-2001 Subaru Legacy B4 RSK?
I will try and find one for you. Thinking about maybe importing one.
@@theprojectproject22 please do, I imported one to nz 2 years ago mint paint with 75,000km is a 2000 rsk in silver I'd love a well made video on one as there basically isnt a singlegood one out there
Hi, I have just bought a k74 model and it’s for lack of a better word, squirrely. It’s all over the road with bump steer, randomly steering left or right! Is this normal for motorway driving as it’s meant for oof road or is there something wrong? I’ve replaced all steering components and problem still there. I’m worried that if I spend anymore money on it for suspension parts etc that it’s a waste if that’s just how they’ve been designed. Any help let me know please! Thanks
Hello sean, what components have you replaced. The steering box on these are adjustable i believe. Has the wteering box or the idler pitman arm of the box been changed?😊
@@theprojectproject22 all steering components yeah, steering box, pitman arm, idler, tie rods etc. after research it may be down to the suspension bushings, even the rear leaf springs might need doing. I’m happy to do it if it needs it, just need to know if it’s actually going to make a difference or is it just how these trucks handling generally
@@theprojectproject22 hi again, I took to an engineer and said it’s just what they feel like. Apparently they’re rubbish at anything other than slow driving and off road. I tried to explain it’s extremely sloppy and no one in their right mind would design a car like this and he insisted that it was. He checked everything and didn’t find a fault at all. I am almost certain it’s the shocks or rear springs as it gets worse with load but after hearing that, I’m going to sell mine.
Mint motor
Where did the front mesh grill come from? Can you post more info about that? Thanks
If you arr in the uk you can have it not my sort of thing.
I bought one of these (L322 TD6) on a 2002 plate about 12 years ago, with around 130k miles on the clock, making it one of the first L322s to roll off the production line. I've probably spent about 12k on non routine repairs/maintenance since then, which includes new gearbox, new turbo, new front air suspension (both sides,) fuel pump, brake discs all round and 2 calipers, handbrake assembly, wiper motor, brake pipe, new plastic moulding surround under driver's seat and some other lesser items I can't recall, also some touches to scratched paintwork here and there. I had it steam cleaned underneath and took it for the full "Krown" anti rust treatment to neutralise existing rust and prevent further rust, where they inject the stuff into every possible cavity, and it gets redone every year. As you can probably tellI absolutely love this vehicle and I've got it to the point where it's in great condition; the only niggling current fault is a corroded steering angle sensor which is an easy fix (it disables the ABS and HDC but doesn't affect anything else); I already bought the part on ebay (genuine reconditioned, I don't waste time with non-genuine parts.) As long as you are prepared to spend up to £5000 or so (or less if you an do a lot of the work yourself) and are prepared to maintain a £2-£3000 contingency fund for further repairs, you have NOT bought a lemon, you have a great bargain right there. Unless you can tackle the bigger jobs yourself, I would suggest finding a good independent garage or mechanic that knows Range Rovers, and avoid the dealerships. So many reconditioned parts are available you should be able to avoid paying full whack for most items. Even if you ended up spending £5000 on immediate issues, you would have a great car which you know is in sound condition, for a total outlay of £6000. If you look at it that way, you should be chuffed with that deal.
Wow that is a long list of non routine parts thank you very much for the comment. I feel that these old rnage rovers are worth it and alot of people expect big brash modern 4x4s need less maintinence and this is not the case. They require more. Thanks for watching I have a l322 buyers guide along with a few other landrover videos dropping soon including L320 sport, l405, and a few comparison videos.
@@theprojectproject22 Thanks 👍Yes the list does seem long on paper, but it is spread over the course of 12 years and most of it occurred during the first 3-4 years (the previous owner probably didn’t believe in preventive maintenance!) For example I doubt he ever changed the gearbox oil which as I’m sure you know is definitely recommended every 50k despite the “sealed for life” claim by the manufacturer.Over the last 4 years I haven’t had to do much at all as the main jobs have been done now. There’s a clip of mine on my channel. Looking forward to your next videos 👍

@@theprojectproject22Yeah you can always tell when your dials go crazy! They are cheap enough to buy but you might have to climb in the engine bay to change it! 🤣
The electric seat switches are actually quite easy to fix. They are filled with small springs, ball bearings, and contacts. You can take them apart, clean out all the old dried up electrical grease, put them back together, and they usually work like new again. I'm on my fourth RRC restoration on a 1995 LWB.
This is a common problem. It’s likely rotted out below the scuttle panel, and/or around the windscreen frame. My soft dash LSE needed repairs in the scuttle/bulkhead which are not easy. I have another soft dash I got earlier this year as a parts donor that is spectacularly rusty 😂. The sills fell off on the trailer journey home, and the drivers seat and floor sink when you get in!
Perfect 4x4? Haha good joke.
Those seats are amazing!
They are the standard xs seats. In japan models they were in the countys
What an amazing colour for the XM. Balmoral Blue? Mondial Blue? I must defend the XM however from the "bad brakes, no feeling" comment. In fact the Brakes are an absolute sweet spot of the XM I think. It is a matter of what you are used to. The comment sadly came after only a few meters in the car. The brakes on the XM and other Citroens, (Xantia etc) are connected to the suspension system and therefore the XM does not have a brake server. This has several advantages. I.e. other than brake fluid the LHM does not source water, does not boil, brake fading impossible. It is also stiffer, easier to adjust and dose. This is why most motorsport cars, F1, WRC, don't have brake servers. The pedal sits also lower than what one is used to and has less travel. A lot happens in a short space but you need to press a bit harder. The pedal sits at the same hight as the accelerator pedal, which I think is perfect. When I had my first test drive in an XM, my first impression was also that the brakes are not very good. But after only 10 minutes or so when I returned into a conventional car, I felt it was the conventional car where the brake pedal is in an odd position and there is no feel whatsoever in the brakes!
Where does the blitzen sit in the lineup ? Seems to have all the things mentioned ….
everything but a nice body, idk what porche was thinking
Blitzen is the top spec, Tommy Kaira is tuned one, and the S401, full Sti spec car like the Impreza Sti.
Z32 is the best looking car Nissan has ever designed.
etune for the win.
Its a finisher car!
i have a 2+2 with a vh45de swap goes harder and better than a standard twin turbo.
Sounds like an interesting project
The small hook in the cab is a curry hook..
You know your Discos…not many know about the increased power on the auto models. I have owned 3 of them and I think they were the best car of 1990’s (not 4x4). 13:34 The Disco TDIs ability was its utility…shopping car, school bus, van, great off roader and one of the best tow vehicles. The D1 did it all cheaply and so simply.
It's a shame they used that ugly 2 spoke steering wheel on the XMs from this era - the earlier single spoke one was the best steering wheel. I'm not sure for certain, but I reckon these may have been one of the earliest cars to have the pull-out door handles that all cars seem to have now.
