My parents were very firm with us at home. We spoke absolutely no French nor English at home. My parents understood that English and French was spoken to us at school and friends so for their children to speak their native languages they had to reinforce in their home. I thank them everyday . 🙏🏾

Unfortunately my siblings don't know creole nc i learned creole and english so well i was the translator. So it was more a coincidence i got the creole so well. It is easy to make them know their origin. My nephews and nieces were brought up in Western countries but never saw themselves as anything other than Nigerians or Africans. They learn and speak the Yoruba Language. The teaching my parents gave me made me who I am. If you neglect to teach your children, the street will teach them, and this will be to your detriment.
