Feeding the Family Horse
Feeding and mucking may not be glamorous but my daughter looks at it like a Disney ride. This is just one of the many videos that I will be posting showing what rural living in North Idaho is all about.

1st Elk Hunt
Переглядів 3264 місяці тому
Just a few of my favorite clips that I put together from an elk hunt last week in Kanisku National Forest in the panhandle of Idaho. It was an amazing experience and even though we saw no elk, I got to bugle back and forth with a bull and we found out where they have been sleeping. Thanks to my buddy we found the elk beds within a few hours and heard the bull bugle from the summit, just like he...

Visiting A Sítio In Manaus
Переглядів 4208 місяців тому
A sítio is just a big piece of land where one grows fruits and vegetables. My father-in-law took me out to his Sítio right on the frontier of Manaus and the Amazon rainforest. He grows papaya, patauá, açaí, cupuaçu, cashew, kale, onion, peppers, and also raises fish. All on about 4.5 acres of land. It is amazing how rich the soil is in this part of the world. I got to walk the whole site and se...

Amazon River Trip (Part I) ua-cam.com/video/DC2VJg649X4/v-deo.htmlsi=rxLAWGV7hp7dqNFH Amazonia is such an amazing region. On this trip we went from Manaus to Autazes and then to a little community about 50 km south where we stayed the night. We went down the Amazon River and the Madeira, which is one of the biggest tributaries of the Amazon. The second part of the River Trip was one of the scar...

    The Brazilian SUS is a great example, inspired by the UK's NHS, which is really impressive. I honestly don’t understand why the US still doesn’t have a truly inclusive, universal healthcare system

    You don’t need to visit a UPA (Emergency Care Unit) for situations like this. In fact, it’s not recommended unless it’s an urgent or emergency condition that poses an immediate risk to your life. UPAs are designed for acute health issues, not for ongoing or chronic concerns. Instead, consider visiting a UBS (Basic Health Unit). These are primary healthcare facilities that provide essential services, including general medical consultations, basic procedures, and referrals to specialists or emergency care if necessary. At a UBS, you can even establish a relationship with a family doctor, who leads a multidisciplinary healthcare team (including dentists, nurses-who can handle dressings and minor procedures-and more). This approach is the best way to make use of SUS (Brazil’s Unified Health System). If you’re unsure about the differences between a UPA and a UBS, check out the infographic created by the Ministry of Health-it offers a clear explanation of when to use each service. When to go to a UBS: You need a routine check-up or follow-up care for a chronic condition (e.g., diabetes, hypertension). You require a vaccination or minor procedures like wound dressing. You want advice or a referral to a specialist. You wish to discuss long-term health planning with a family doctor. When to go to a UPA: You experience severe chest pain or shortness of breath. You have symptoms of a stroke, such as sudden numbness or confusion. You are in an accident or have an acute injury (e.g., a broken bone, deep cut, or severe burns). You face sudden high fever, persistent vomiting, or dehydration. The doctors and nurses at a UPA won’t openly say anything if you go there for a chronic issue, but you might notice them looking annoyed or frustrated-understandably so, since healthcare resources are limited. UPAs are specifically for acute and urgent cases. For example, yesterday I came across a father trying to help his son, who was overdosing. I took them to a UPA, and the boy was seen by a doctor in less than a minute. Within five minutes, he was having an EKG to check his heart and was receiving medication to stabilize his heart rate. No questions were asked until the immediate problem was solved, and after he was stabilized, the identification and administrative process began. This is what UPAs are designed for-urgent, life-threatening situations. On the other hand, at a UBS, you can arrive at 7 a.m. (when they open) and wait to see a doctor based on a first-come, first-served system (“ordem de chegada”). Enjoy your time in Brazil, and take care!

    I'm an American that's been living in Brazil for almost a year and the rental process is absolutely a huge pain lol. Compared to how things work in America, property owners here in Brazil put all of the costs on the renter even though you don't own the place. There are also so many taxes and fees imposed on renters here. Rent is still dirt cheap overall compared to what you pay in the US, but I feel bad for Brazilians who have to deal with all the fees on their lower incomes (relative to the dollar). I'm a content creator in Curitba and it would be great to come see Florianopolis soon!

    All residents of Brazil, including tourists can access the Brazilian public healthcare system, Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), at no cost. Coverage is universal and people who use the system don't need to pay for doctor's fees, lab fees, hospitalization, surgery, or prescription drugs. Under SUS, you also have direct access to primary care and emergency services.

  • @ProfessoraRaquelThel
    @ProfessoraRaquelThel Місяць тому

    O SUS é muito relativo, tudo depende em qual região você está ou qual hospital você você é atendido. Até hoje tive boas experiências com o Sistema Único de saúde, incluindo duas cirurgias, mas conheço pessoas não tiveram uma experiência positiva. Isso não significa que todo o sistema seja ruim. Alguns hospitais públicos são referências e possuem uma boa administração, mas infelizmente outros estão “largados as traças”. O SUS precisa de muitas melhorias , mas ainda não deixa de ser um direito que temos. Muitos estrangeiros ficam encantados com esse sistema de saúde . São coisas que você começa a valorizar quando sente na pele que não são todos os países que proporcionam essa oportunidade para a população.

    It's not free, no! The Brazilian public health system is maintained with tax money thath the Brazilian people pay in other circumstances. The way they are talking, it gives the impression that the government, both at the municipal, state and federal levels will not deduct from taxes the health expenses they incurred with you! Public hospitals and all other public health care services, such as outpatient services are maintained with public money.

    One thing I can add is that, if you ask the doctor, he can prescribe a “medical certificate”, which is a document signed by him with an ICD code (International Classification of Diseases) describing what you have and how many days off you should take from school or work. It is mandatory for the employer to respect these days off. It's also a document you get if you have to leave your job to have a test/exam in order to get a diagnosis (MRI, x-ray, blood test, etc..)

    I had thyroid cancer with metastases in the lymph nodes, I had a radical neck dissection and a total thyroidectomy and all the treatment with Radioactive Iodine through the SUS, I was hospitalized for 19 days in a public hospital that is a reference for cancer in my state. And I still carry out monitoring for cancer control and screening through the SUS, the SUS has its flaws but it is very necessary for the lives of us Brazilians. VIVA O SUS!!!

    A simple question: why don’t you STAY to enjoy our amazing public services? I know the answer: because it is bullshit. Our “SUS” is a butcher shop. People DIE in lines waiting for treatment, and EVERYONE who can uses private insurance. NO POLITICIAN OR RICH PEOPLE uses SUS. Not a single one. And the defenders are all imbeciles that don’t pay taxes because are in welfare or work for the state. Note: SUS workers have other kind of insurances.
